Based on this, and everything we've seen so far, I'd say we've seen a part of the map that's as big as GTA IV + half of San Andreas. Yes, there's still a lot to be seen! Area 6 appears to be based on the truck skydiving aerial shot and if we use my scaling of that, the "known" area of this map works out to about 8.4 square miles. On the other hand, using that scale makes the city of Los Santos only 1.1 square miles which wouldn't be much bigger than the GTA San Andreas version and that can't be right. On the other hand, if we scale Los Santos to have the same land area as GTA IV, then the "known" area of the map is 26 square miles. That's more like it. The combined landmass of GTASA, GTAIV, and RDR is 20.7 square miles discounting water/out-of-bounds land. I'd say the proportion of city to map is plausible but details on the map may be oversized, so there will be more stuff between stuff in the real thing. LOL that doesn't sound too big at all if you count all the deserts and countryside!...this should be at least two times bigger in order to match descriptions of the map size from GI article and different interviews, where scale of the map is mentioned!...
