AuSsIeThUnDeR36
Go to 1:00 and see where Michael's Fortune is on the street. Check out how wide those lanes are! Maybe it's the show of an unfinished section that Rockstar needs to fix up or maybe this is how it will actually be so we can weave through the traffic. Colonel_Buttfuck
Could at least have linked to the video in your post. I'm to f*cking tired to care about people complaining about how bad a game is that they've never played as it is.

Freezer89
Aren't the roads in US usually that wide? Especially in LA. Or am I confusing wide lanes with several (and wide) lanes in one direction on highways? But it's far too wide anyways.
t3h PeNgU1N oF d00m
I think Rockstar always makes their lanes wider than usual, in order for you to pass between traffic. Those lanes do look a little extra-large, granted nobody wants to be stuck behind a bus the entire game though.
Adriaan
Just one of those things where they change things up in the fictional world for game design reasons. It's like in GTAIV where in reality Manhattan's avenues are one way only (the ones that take you up and down the city), yet, in GTAIV they go both ways. kasparlaks
I know several games that make the lines wide(er) to make it easier for the PC gamer. (It's obviously harder to drive with a keyboiard)
Flyer922
yea i think they do that on purpose to make passing easier?. If this was a real location in los angeles it would have been atleast 3 lanes. but on the other hand if u look at this screenshot u can see the lanes are pretty narrow. Gustopher
I go to college outside of LA and that's how the lanes are connecting to the city. They're like that for the mass amounts of tractor trailers coming in and out of the city.

douggoud
I think it's something that Rockstar does. Or even game developers in general. Like what kasparlaks said.
visionist
Broker Bridge has two lanes in each direction as opposed to three for the Brooklyn Bridge. It's not just to make driving easier. It also reduces the amount of cars needed to spawn.

Park Avenue is a 2-way end to end. Anything after 7th Avenue becomes 2-way somewhere above 59th street. I think IV making most avenues 2-way made up for there only being 7 of them instead of 12. james_root
This thread made me smile. One of the complaints people made when they saw my game on Steam Greenlight was the tight lanes , which were sized according to the lanes that i see in my country:) Long story short i guess it's really hard to satisfy people with lane sizes:D

Magnet_man16
Yes its because americans cant wait, so they just drive around others. They need wide straight raods because if you try driving fast and turning a corner the car would barrel roll.

Shreddy Krueger
I think it's a good thing, It'll give you room to swerve out of the way of the AI traffic that decides to cut into your lane for no f*cking reason.
Mokrie Dela
UK Motorway or some highway Jesus how bad are those drivers in the second picture? Idiots. OT: Firstly American roads are wide anyway, but translate that into a game, and you have to give the player some lee way. Play IV and look at Alderney's roads, they were strangely wide, explainable by it being industrial - lorries turning etc. It's a combination of an exageration of america's wide roads and allowing the player to have some room to overtake. The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. Click here to view my Poetry

I have seen lane cutting with a CAR...
