Mefris
That photo is unfair. It was taken with a camera with exposure cranked up. Just look at the ground... it looks nearly like day time, yet, it was taken at night! This^.No way in hell you're going to see a night sky like that without special equipment. Actually you can just go somewhere really dark, and I mean really dark and you can see most of it. Obviously they've coloured it up a bit, but other than that it really does look like it. Take a look at this YouTube video: http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=ofmi03d1U0s...mi03d1U0s&gl=GB Tell me the last time you've seen a night sky like that? I've been to places with zero Light pollution and I haven't seen anything that comes close to that pic. Edited November 20, 2012 by Mefris

THEBIGZED
It would be more like this naturally... This is a fairly good example of a good looking night sky. Also as in real life it would be cool if when you looked up on the sky it would take a few seconds and then you'd start seeing more stars. In other words, I want to see some stars but not a f*cking star riddled mess as in some pictures here.
BlackNoise
If they're going to make it more realistic, then the city, country, and wilderness should all look different. The wilderness should look amazing with a lot of stars and the country should be similar but not as many, and the city should be much less stars because of smog and light pollution. I thought RDR was pretty good, but I still think R* should put a bit more time into making it look perfect for GTA V.
Mister Pink
The image is a little extreme. You just wouldn't see so many stars so brightly. I do love the photo though, it's beautiful. I would like to see stars, alright and a big massive moon that you see sometimes in real life. MOVING LIKE BERNIE
Adriaan
What's really cool is how much the sky is actually illuminated at night during a full moon. I'm talking about a blue sky where you can't see stars. If there are low clouds, it looks pretty cool as it's quite lit up, too!

Mokrie Dela
I personally hope they get nighttime right at last. RDR was close, but why can't night in games be dark - like you know, it is in real life. I'm fed up that every damned game when night falls the screen just turns blue. Even if you tweak the settings to make it look good, day then looks crap. Mind you with the smog that LA/LS has, in the city at least, i imagine there will be some kind of ambient light. In the desert though, night should be dark - and that's what bugs me the most. The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. AtomicPunk
I liked the night sky in Elder Scrolls Oblivion. For V, I'd definitely like to see a better sky. R* always improves on the sky in every game, so I don't think we have anything to worry about in that dept..

CTCCoco
Go to LA at night and look at the sky. You'll be lucky to count 30 stars. Go to Mississauga or suburban Toronto at night. You'll be lucky to count 15 stars. Go to Norway at night, you be lucky to count 1 star. Go to Spain, Almería at night, you be lucky to see where is the sky. douggoud
Pretty much anywhere in Southern California you'd be lucky to see any stars, thanks in large part to the pollution here, lol. I'm pretty sure there aren't many stars to be seen in L.A. I wouldn't mind being able to see some from the countryside though, but when in Los Santos, you probably won't be able to see anything, like in real life. DeadZombie
Haha. Graphics graphics. Go out side. It looks much better. Although it is a possibility because there is less light out here in the desert. I live in Arizona and about 20 miles from where this game is going to based off. LTA1992
i took this pic, its pretty much what our sky looks like in NYC. -Too big- Um, I didn't know our sky was overcast every night. The amount of stars you see in the sky depends on where you are. In Coney Island at night, you see a lot of them, I an count up to around 45. During the blackout after Sandy, the sky was in HD. Couldn't believe the amount I was seeing. I almost fell into a hole in the boardwalk.

Mr. Tuna Taco
Im not trolling. I want a realistic night sky! In Gta IV, the night sky sucked balls. The RDR had a better night sky, but it was in complete darkness yet you couldn't see the Milky Way. I want to go out at night on Gta V and see the Milky Way, R* need to step up and make a better night sky. I want it looking like this: http://scienceblogs.com/startswithabang/fi...ruckmuller.jpeg Bro, you're in LA.. We are lucky who can even see the vinewood sign from some views of these screenshots. R* could have taken this to their advantage. IRL you can stand in South Central Los Angeles, and you can't even see the Vinewood sign because of all the polution. So anyone who lives in LA might get happy when playing since they can see how LA looks from a distance

That's true, but if you've ever been somewhere truly dark (no street lights for miles!) your human eye will see a lot more detail than you'd get on a 'normal' photo. That's not to say that the OP's pic isn't a little OTT but it still looks great and I for one agree that we could have some really stunning night skies out in the boonies. I actually live up in the desert area of California near Edwards, While you can see plenty of stars you can not see from light pollution in LA they are no where near that level of detail, You will see great detail with a moon on land and more stars without the moon, Some areas of the Antelope valley have a light pollution ordnance. Street lights and parking lights must project there light down and not up as to preserve the view of the sky.
ThisIsHorosho
excuse me but no...thats not what i want...in fact for my taste nights in RDR wasn't dark enough! (yes! and thats my opinion op.!) i want them so dark that it would give me serious creeps when approaching haunting house behind the trees in the mysterious mist and slender-men hiding behind my back! i want nights in GTAV to be as scary and realistic the same time as it is possible!... Cwave
I hope to see the moon. And as long as it's not too ambitious, I also hope the moon appears and rises/falls at different places and times in the night sky. For instance, one night it could be rising above Mt. Chiliad and the next it could be rising above the sea horizon. And it would be better still if we could also observe the different lunar phases. Oh and the occasional solar eclipse would be nice, but I highly doubt that will ever happen

You'd be lucky to count the people 5 feet in front of you, lol. But seriously, I doubt they'll have a night sky anything like RDR. The lights of the city, plus smog and pollution, really keep us Californians from being able to see the stars. I mean, even just this morning I was driving to school and I drive down this one hill, sometimes I can see Angels Stadium, sometimes I can't, today was one of those days where I just couldn't, because of the smog out here in Anaheim. It's been a while since I've been to L.A., but I know that more often than not, it's worse there than it is here in Anaheim, so unless it's a windy day, you aren't gonna see sh*t in that night sky, lol. But who knows, they might make it to where you can see a couple, I expect you to be able to see a better night sky when out in the countryside.
