I'd imagine it'll be as much of a commercial success as the despicable 3D television system which has failed miserably in North America. I don't know exactly what it's like, this I have no experience, but I'd imagine it's a lot like 3D TV, which has been described as an unpleasant, eye straining experience in which picture quality varies by the angle in which your viewing from, especially with the "glasses less" sets.

It doesn't really ad much, you do notice it a bit and it's fun for 5 minutes, but after that it's normal and it's just not worth the money.

The problem is most hardcore gamers play games for hours at a time. You can't combine a novelty experience like 3D with gaming, unless you also treat video games as a novelty. I would think most hardcore gamers think of video games as more than just a novelty, so anything that f*cks with the overall experience like 3D or motion controls is just pointless IMO.

Its a generation that has only just began at the moment its basically like having a brick phone in an iphone generation.

It just ain't good enough to use yet. espically the equipment cost it just ain't worth it. I got a 3D tv ... not sure why anymore lol. guess I just needed a new tv.

I'm glad I have it... but I rarely use the 3D function on it.

depends i guess. i use 3D for all my games because i don't get headaches from it( i can literally play 3D games or watch 3D movies for 12 to 14 hours straight without getting headaches like what some people are talking about)

I got a 3d monitor not for the 3d but for 120hz.

3D is good, but its a gimmick. But than again, you might enjoy gaming in 3d!

If you do decide to, go for Nvidia 3d Vision 2.

Lock n' Stock

3D is overrated imo. It looks cool at first but a few minutes in and the effect starts to wear off. I often feel like taking glasses off during 3D films due to them darkening the picture too much, but then I see duplicates.

I can tell you one thing that Nvidia will always be better than AMD

Not true.

At least explain why you think that, then we can talk properly.

I honestly haven't had great experiences with 3D gaming. I went to the All-Star game convention in Anaheim back in 2010 (for the MLB All-Star game at Angels Stadium) and they had MLB 10: The Show to play in 3D. I tried playing it but there would be times where the 3D would basically act as if I didn't have the glasses on, even though I did. Not to mention, my experiences with 3D tv is basically that they're cutouts placed a little farther ahead of something else to create that 3d effect. Which I don't like. I personally don't think it's worth it, I'd wait a few years for them to truly perfect it. Maybe they already have, I don't know, I just don't think it's all what its cracked up to be.

I'd beg to differ, I prefer my AMD Radeon to the Nvidia card I had before. So honestly, that's my opinion, while you have yours. There is no fact that one is better than the other.

I personally dislike all the 3D gimmicky stuff. Gives me a headache after watching a movie. I'm happy with a good quality HDTV and surround sound.

I'm not sure that this thread's in the right subforum... but I'd point out that 3D TVs aren't 3D, they just do some 2D trickery. Games convert to this format more easily for the most part as the objects are taken from "3D space" and rendered into 2D, it's (kind of) the other way around for moving film.

Like most people I'm waiting for a) a proper standard and b) HD's successor. Both are around a couple of years from the mass-market.

No. I hate useless gimmicks. If the next Xbox has a touch controller or anything like that I'll be pissed off

3D is a GIMMICK. For the past couple of years, the electronics industry, in conjunction with Hollywood, have been forcefeeding 3D to the masses with little to no effect. The electronics industry has taken a HUGE gamble with 3D becoming the standard, and it may prove to be disastrous. Many people find it to be annoying and uncomfortable in stretches of more than 30 minutes. Perhaps when they perfect a system that doesn't rely on special glasses, it may take off, but until then, it's just a gimmick.

Game developers would be wise to simply wait a while longer.

cant remember

Like most people here, 3D isn't impressive. And unlike the name suggests, it's not really 3D, but it's two 2D images that give an impression of depth that isn't really there, which is why people get headaches.

Got AMD 3D setup myself and tbh I must say it's probably not worth the money at this point. First of all the equipment costs a pretty dime. Got 120hz Samsung SA700 LED display myself, and while it is the best display I've ever had, I rarely use the 3D. I actually have a 3 screen Eyefinity setup with LED/LCD-hybrid, LED and LCD displays so I can tell the full LED wipes the floor with the other two!

Even if you can afford to buy the stuff you need to set it up, you will hit these two issues: 1) 3D mode takes a hell of a toll on performance, and 2) it doesn't work with every game. Add to that the possibility that it can give you a headache and/or make you feel dizzy. And you look like a dork wearing those glasses...

I have to say that in some games the 3D effects are just awesome (Mirror's Edge for example) but it's really more of a thing for movies. In conclusion, if you got extra cash coming out your ass, go for it but don't expect it to revolutionize your gaming experience.

Excuse me, I got a sudden urge to play some 3d Skyrim...
