cousinletsgobowling
I'm sure most of you have played multiplayer in GTA IV. This was one of the most surprising things when IV was released. At the time we did not expect it and Rockstar did not have to add it in but it was surprisingly very good and people still play it to this day. V will be no different and based on the information that we now know and the info from the trailers I think these areas for V multiplayer are a given. (For now I'll talk about Deathmatch/Team deathmatch mode) since these are the popular modes. Los Santos Airport This is a given considering how popular the Franklin Airport in IV was used for deathmatch/team deathmatch. This time I believe they will be an enterable terminal (like Vice City) and it will spill out onto the tarmac and perhaps the inside of a 747 parked on the tarmac. Del Perro Pier This would make a great map. Reminds me of the final mission in TBOGT. Lots of places for cover. Would be fun to scale the ferris wheel and snipe from there. Salton sea town area The area where Trevor lives. Great location. Reminiscent of Blackwater in RDR. Overall has a unique atmosphere in regards to GTA multiplayer. Ganton (hood areas) Good to relive the gang wars of San Andreas with these places. Military Base Would probably be the most popular area for multiplayer. Players are able to access military jets for dog fights. Also will have access to attack choppers. Maybe tanks and other military vehicles. Feel free to contribute any other ideas. japse123
What do yo mean? Maps? Rockstar said the multiplayer will be revolutionary, so I dont think they are gonna introduce TDM maps like harbor or airport dude o_O
Deffpony
I'm stoked about the military base and even more curious about anything underwater for multiplayer
cousinletsgobowling
I didn't say anything about maps. Just areas for multiplayer like in IV. What's your interpretation of multiplayer in V?
Androyed
I didn't say anything about maps. Just areas for multiplayer like in IV. What's your interpretation of multiplayer in V? Read this topic: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=534951&hl= I think they will focus less on making different game modes (although they do sound fun), and more on the free roam aspect. My guess is that they want to copy that freedom you have in GTA SP to GTA MP. I don't know if you've played free roam in GTA IV MP, but it just wasn't the same as the free roam in GTA IV SP. I think they will try to make the free roam in MP as much as it is in SP. It should feel like you are playing SP free roam, only there happen to be 31 (hopefully, maybe less) other humans like you to interact with. You might meet them, you might not. You can play poker with them in casinos, play golf with them, kill them, maybe even play some co-op missions with them. Kind of how RDR MP worked. Remember that? I'm sure that was a "test" for R*, and now they want to try it in GTA V. Yes, I would also like it to be like this. And it would be awsome if not everyone was spawning with weapons and you had to work for them. It would be cool traveling with people out in the while and suddenly have a murder on your tail because he had worked for his weapons, not just spawning with M4A1 or something. I think they want to get rid of the line between multiplayer and singleplayer, to make the experience very similar. Of course, the story and characters will be singleplayer aspects, but free roaming just isn't the same on your own. Like in Just Cause 2. The world is great. But eventually you really want some other humans to play with. GTA SA had this with co-op free roam. I hope V will have this with 32 players. If you've read the previews from IGN and other sites, you might have noticed that they talked about how the character switch system looked. It is something like this: Trevor | Franklin ------------------------------ Michael | Empty spot The people who saw the demo thought the empty spot might be multiplayer. My idea is this: GTA V will not have three, but four characters. Three characters are for the singleplayer, and you have one character (that you can fully customize) for multiplayer. R* wants to make MP feel important. By putting your MP character together with the three SP characters, they do just that. Switching to MP will feel natural. First you want to free roam alone in SP with Michael. Then with Trevor. Then you want to free roam in MP with the character you made yourself. What's different between switching from a SP character to another SP character or from a SP character to your MP character? I guess leveling up would be a big part of MP, since you have one MP character. When you play SP and then go back to MP again, that character is still the same guy. Just like Trevor keeps being the same guy when you aren't playing him. You don't become a new MP character every time you start multiplayer. Again, this is all kind of like in RDR. I think RDR was a foretaste of what's about to come in V. BUT rockstar said they are revolutionizeing the MP for GTA, so I have my hopes up. Maybe it will be a presistant world with more servers and 1 server is able to hold over 100 players? That sounds crazy. If that would be possible... 32 would already be cool though. I can only imagine how cool it would be to walk around a detailed Los Angeles with 100 other guys. What I would be more than content with though is to feel no reason to play SP free roam, except for if I just want to be alone. 32 is more than you think; even in a world as big as the one in GTA V is going to be, you will still have plenty of human interaction. People tend to stick around certain areas anyway (like the airport or times square in IV). I do hope that there are more than just 2 spots like that in V. In fact, I hope the city will be so cool that almost every spot will be a spot where people want to go. 03silverbullet
i just really wish the good people over at R* aren't listening to these whinny ass cry babies about not having fighter air craft for multiplayer, or those wanting limited ammo for said craft. TBoGT multiplayer was the best thing to happen to gtaIV, imo. i was scoping out hiding places in screen shots. the screen shot where the guy is para-gliding down in the valley next to the train and bridge, is a great place to hide. i noticed the tunnels on both sides of the valley are going to be ideal spots to hide when i piss off someone in a fighter craft. NGC BemaR
Just to comment on what was said about. 32 players is alot of players for a map the size of GTA IV. We are talking bigger than GTA IV, Red Dead and GTA SA combined. BIGGER. Not the same size. GTA IV and Red Dead both had a maximum of 16 players and anyone who has played both games when the server is full will know, it is not bustling and busy. Unless everyone is crowded in one area and usually a few people will be riding or cruising together and you can be in areas of the map where it is completely derelict. GTA SA MP on the PC was a different story. 500 players were the maximum on servers for SA-MP and while I never played a server where it was ever full 250 people running riot in SA made it incredibly enjoyable. I played SA-MP for quite a while after buying GTA IV and being disapointed with the online multiplayer. Obviously 500 players, 100 players is asking alot of Rockstar in my opinion for GTA V (consoles). I believe 32 players would be a insignificant amount to make free roam intresting. But as was mentioned earlier Rockstar have claimed multiplayer will be revolutionary and for me if Rockstar say something they mean it. I have no idea what they have planned but I am a huge MP fan of GTA and will be spending 95% of playing time online. Also all this talk about not having aircraft or more to the point, military aircraft on multiplayer is silly. They should be on multiplayer, but I think even if they are going to be as powerful as they were on IV, there should be some sort of homing missile launcher that can be fired and helicopters and jets. This would make us free roamers feel alot safer. I hated standing firing spiralling rockets and would hardly ever hit a moving helicopter. GTA SA had a homing launcher so maybe we will see it and many other anti-air guns. Just my two pence. Red XIII
I hope there arent any map packs included in gta v, i cant believe they released map packs for rdr, how can you do that, we've already payed for the map once. 32 players isnt revolutionary, anyway, 16 players is not bad as it is in other games, it wont feel like a ghost town because AI will be included/ IMO i think the multiplayer may include a lot more interactions with other players in the world, it can be drug dealing to even possibly buying and selling houses or cars with each other. Haha, I must have got out of RDR early... I didn't even KNOW there were map packs Hmmmm.... makes you think though.... if they did that for RDR then it potentially sets a precedent for GTA, but I guess we just don't know... StateofMind15
Just cut up the map like GTA IV. Hated TBoGT because you could only choose small areas.

Hopefully the money aspect on the servers will be a feature where you can make money from businesses and from different jobs and you can choose to be legit or just look for the guy with the carrying the most money on him. Me and my friends did some sweet hits on rich people on the way to bank their money or on their way to buy businesses. Alot had their friends employed offering protection so that made it fun! This would be a great feature for freeroam!
