The first Grand Theft Auto-game came out 1997, whereas the first Saints Row-game came out 2006. (Not like it matters anyway - the more the merrier, right?) Grand Theft Auto is a bit more realistic, with focus on realism, whereas Saints Row focuses on overdoing things and to ridicule. Grand Theft Auto is set in modern day, whereas Saints Row is set in the future. The only similarities really are that they're both open world - and there are plenty of those kinds of games out there. Presuming the OP is claiming that V looks too over the top and ridiculous, what happened to all the people who said IV was too serious and lost all the fun from SA? Dear lord, there is no pleasing some fans. SA was great, IV was great. V looks like a happy medium and probably will outdo both games but some people are never happy. Saints Row was always in the same city after my informations, so they firstly copied the GTA theme after San Andreas (or was it Vice City?) with the open world and just modified their game a little bit in SR2 and SR3.
