Anyone else think the city area which is obviously the most fun part of the map going to be too small?

I mean the desert is cool and all but its not very fun besides dirt bike racing and stuff.

Why is it obvious that it's the most fun?

"City area" is all we got in IV and many people hated it...

I think people hated it because it was too brown and bloom

I think that the city area is the most boring place in LS. I just cant wait to be able to climb mount chiliad with bike, hunt some animals, explore the desert and stuff like that happy.gif

los santos will feel more alive and colorful by the sound and looks of it, you cant really compare los santos to liberty city, anyway i agree that the surrounding area will be the most fun.

Most of LC was useless and didn't really fill like a good spot to visit. Maybe in LS they have every place unique.

I just hope they didn't give us one city and then a gigantic area of country/desert 4x the size of the city.

gta sa balanced it by having two other cities. Imagine only having LS, and then SF and LV were nothing but country/desert. It would've been overbearing.

The city will obviously have more stuff to do and more stuff to interact with. That's part of the reason I prefer GTAIV over RDR, that and the fact there were no vehicles in rdr for obvious reasons

I asked that question because people like myself prefer flying around, or driving around Chillad, and who knows what we can do with the wildlife....

Everything will probably be fun, I can't wait for this game period

I also think it's way too small also! I was hoping in the hundreds' sq miles big!

Actually, I prefer both. Sometimes too much city get's boring and you want to go out.

Sometimes you get tired of the *quiet and calmness* and want to go back to the hustle and bustle of the interesting city.

I personally didn't think LC was that bad, it wouldn't be half bad if we got a countryside, I'm sure people would barely complain about the city then.

OT: City area is not small sir, and it's been confirmed, it contains more square mileage the Liberty City altogether, it's just less dense. Don't worry.

I think that you guys are putting to much emphasis on the size of the map and city rather than think about how we will be spending our time.

No, we hated it because we've played 4 damn years through Liberty City, getting tired of buildings, want to see tall mountains and deserts.

"Downtown area of LS is smaller than Liberty City" they are comparing just the DOWNTOWN part of Los Santos to the whole LIBERTY CITY. If this is too small for some people.. well then i dont know what to say about that confused.gif

No they are comparing Los Santos downtown with liberty city downtown.

Los Santos definitely covers more square footage, just as the sprawling Los Angeles metro area does compared to New York City.

So los santos is bigger than liberty city. Maybe the city is also bigger than L.A noire Los Angeles.

I never got this. Go to settings and turn up the game's satuation and the game actually got quite colourful!

LA is one of the larges metropolitan areas in the world. True Crime streets of LA did a good take on it, but it fell into the pitfall of realism - it was boring (though i LOVED the highways in it). GTA has always scaled the city down, so it's not so huge that it's unfun (LA NOIRE also suffered from this - the city was FAR too big for the kind of game it was).

The cities in SA were tiny, really small, and bland, but everyone loved it so much; the reason was variety. IV did fantastic work, and it saddens me people are too spoilt to see it for what it is; each district looked and felt unique. I expect teh same in LS - the city may be the size of GTA IV, but each district will feel different and traveling from one to the far end of the city will feel right, then the country, which is going to be fun with ATVs and quads etc.

I'm not worried over the city size. The screens make it look spot on - it's scaled down remember. and more importantly, the city will feel ALIVE.

The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.

See for yourself. The area we see from LS in this pic is a bit smaller, though we're not even seeing all of LS in this pic. So I guess they're are equally big or LS is a bit bigger.

*PICTURES*

Thanks for posting this overview over LC - I wanted to make something like that but since I have the PS3 version I can't make screenshots

Two things to keep in mind for everybody who is still worried about the size:

1. The GTA IV map is 50% water- When Los Santos was the size of the GTA IV map, it would actually be 2x Liberty City

2. We haven't seen anything of the poorer Los Angeles areas except a part of it in this screen: https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hpho...392201341_o.jpg

(you can also see that on Fido_le_muet 's map in the "mapping Los Santos"-thread)

In GTAIV the city had hardly any interiors, GTAV has will have lots of them, so that makes the city more interesting.

I think that the outskirts and the open land will be the most exciting part too.

But anyway the cityarea can be very cool. For some reason in IV they didn't make it happen.

In Vice for example there were lots of ramps on the top of the roofs so we were able to jump from building to building with a crossbike and so on.

I hope that R* make the city as well as the countryside a joy for us to explore!

do you have a link that shows the map (sounds like you've seen it with that statement), so i can make a relevant answer. i know the game isn't out yet, so i could not tjeck it that way:P

Well, in IV, I can't recall ever thinking "Geez, I wish there was more city in this game! It's so fun!".

Actually, I think everybody here will say that playing IV, all they would think was "Geez, I wish there was some countryside or desert areas... I feel like having fun!"

And then I'd end up on some deserted beach while a random hobo spawns and asks for some money. That's about how calm IV got.
