mkey82
I want to put this out there. Food for thought: So Rockstar announced a Spring 2013 release date for the game. So nothing specific. A rough guide of April to June (March is excluded as Take-Two said it'll come out in the next financial year, which starts April). So let's say they plan on doing a PC release 1-3 months after the console, it makes it difficult to have announced the PC platform, right? They couldn't say "Coming Spring 2013 for consoles and PC", because they don't have a specific release date, yet. PC may end up releasing in the Summer. This was already laid out before. They could have just as easily said "the consoles versions are in bound spring 2013 and the PC version will be coming afterwards." But they haven't said that, have they? No, they have intentionally said what they did. Plus threatened people to stop asking about the PC version.

In a way it's smart for them because if they said and given any hope on PC, people would wait for the PC versions instead of buying consoles just to play the game. This way they will maximize the profits to the limit by making people buy both console and PC versions of the same game. Note that usually console versions are more expensive as per usual because it goes on Dual-Layer DVD or Blu-Ray discs which are a more advanced media
Adriaan
Yeah the sentence "Spring 2013 for consoles, with PC version coming afterwards" doesn't sound like a good announcement to have made.
mkey82
Yes guys, you're right. It's much better to keep PC gamers in the dark and show them absolutely no respect, respect paying customers deserve. Better yet, they should not even mention the PC version for at least 6 months after the console release and then when all hype has died down just mention the GTAV PC release at the end of some completely unrelated press conference. That sounds so much better.
EvilEmperorZoRG
...i think R* just lies about not focusing on PC version right now, they lied about other things like that in the past, i even remember them saying there won't be PC version of GTAIV at all, but then after game hit console shelves they all of a sudden announced PC version...what a coincidence if you'd ask me...in my opinion they already work on PC version, but are lying about not working on it, so that some of us (PC players) would go pre-order game for consoles first, so we'd give them our money and THEN announce PC version is going to be released after first day of console releases!...this is called marketing! they lie for the marketing profits!... Can't thing anything else either. OK Red Dead was always console exclusive but every other Rockstar Game found it's way on the PC. They won't let down PC gamers like that. We just have to wait and play the console version for a while.
lefantome
Trailer 1 and most of the screen in the previous weeks are from the PC version. Sunrise Driver
maybe R* don't want to see their game getting abused by modders Modding is the major reason why people re-buy the game for PC after console versions. So no.
Adriaan
Yes, the screenshots and the trailer are taken from PS3. Rockstar always distinguishes between versions like they did in the platform agnostic run-up to Max Payne 3's release where they specifically said "PC screenshots" whenever they showed them. That sounds so much better. actually yeah... not better, but that's pretty realistic. Just face it, Rockstar has never been a very PC centric developer. And paying customers...? Hehe, if more pc gamers actually were paying customers I bet it would be a much healthier platform. The simple reason developers turned away from it, is because they're just not making their money there. And you can't make a game the scale of V for PC only, you don't make enough money to warrant that kind of investment. There is not going to be so much as talk of PC version until they get the game and it's DLC out.

That sounds so much better. Yes, they behave as if they do not care about PC players. But this is not exactly true. This is a business, and for some reasons they can not announce and release the game on PC as soon as possible. It's not about the purposeful disregard for PC players. To be fair, I don't have strong grounds to claim that the game will be released on the PC as usual, 6 months later, or sooner. But in defense of Rockstar I can say the following. They have good reasons not to give exact dates because Rockstar is like the real creators - if you do not limit them with deadlines, they will work and work on the project, each time perfecting it more. So they are never able to finish development in time. Actually, I think that very possible that Rockstar were forced to postpone the release of the game from autumn to spring. So, according to Dan Houser, the game is far from over. They are constantly add something, delete, edit, etc. And that's why they have not named a specific release date even for consoles. Because they are not sure that they will be able to complete the work in time. I would not be surprised if they even will move release date again. You can see what happened when Hurricane Sandy disrupted their plans. They worked on the trailer until the day before it's released. So, the same is true and for PC release. I can assume that right now they are afraid that they will not be able to complete the console version of the game in time, not to mention the PC version. And if they do plan to release a PC version is much sooner this time, you can imagine how much mud will be poured on them, if, as it's usually happens with Rockstar, their plans will change Edited November 18, 2012 by Game2048
Andreas
oh so it has been confirmed it's ps3? i never actually thought about if it was xbox or ps3 though wheather xbox or ps3 it looks amazing It has been confirmed by Game Informer that the screenshots are from the Playstation 3 and Matt Bertz claimed that the GTA V demo was shown on a PS3. It's known that games from Rockstar Games usually look on XBox 360 better than on Playstation 3. Look at GTA IV. Play the game on X360 and then on PS3. It will look better and less blurred on XBox 360 and the framerates are better and maybe more stable. The same goes for Red Dead Redemption but it's already improved compared to GTA IV. All these issue are history. Max Payne 3 is well optimized on all plaforms. It runs with stable framerates on XBox 360 and Playstation 3 and the game looks pretty much the same on both consoles. Sure, the game shows maybe a bit less light sources on the PS3 than on the X360 but the difference is marginal. This and the game runs on a great ammount of PCs. The system requirements are lower than the ones from GTA IV. It doesn't matter that much if the GTA V trailer was from the Sony or Microsoft console because it will look like the same on both consoles. Since the demo was shown on a PS3 it probably means the engine is better optimized than the one of Max Payne 3. That's good news for console gamer and most likely even for PC gamer! mkey82
They have good reasons not to give exact dates How does saying "don't worry guys, the PC version is in the works, stay tuned for more info" equate giving "exact dates?" Where have I asked for any dates? What I'm asking for is some common decency and respect for PAYING customers. This is something that should be guaranteed and practically overlooked, taken for granted by the end user. But with R* it's a luxury paralleled only by a line of 100% pure Colombian white sprinkled with diamond dust.

Not exactly. Yeah, it won't look 100% like the same on both consoles but like I said before the difference won't be as significant as it was the case with GTA IV. Here are examples of how GTA IV looks like on both consoles: Here's a video of how Max Payne 3 looks like on the consoles: Rockstar has improved it a lot because the differences aren't as big as in GTA IV. It has been confirmed that GTA V is developed parallel on the consoles simultaneously which means there is no lead-platform because the game is developed seperate on each platform. sats
Gta v will never be on pc just like red dead redemption.when asked by ign they said everything is up for consideration "GTA V is only confirmed for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Why not the PC, Wii U and so on? Everything else is up for consideration. That's all I can give you. The main thing is we are not... we are a third-party publisher. We're not Nintendo, we're not Sony, we're not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there's the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market. If that's on Apple we put something on Apple. Wherever it might be. I think that's the fun in what we do. We see ourselves as a content company that uses technology. We don't make it; we use it to make the most fun stuff." they said they can only do what we want where there is a business oppurtunity and its seems they think there are no business oppurtunities like they said about lack of red dead redemption pc because these games will sell tens of millions on ps3 and xbox 360 alone while pc may sell from 3 million to 6 million copies they think that it was small percentage to console sales which were around 30 million.small games like max payne 3 and la noire will make appearance on pc because their sales will be less on consoles.there they see business oppurtunities on pc.gta will be released on wii u but not for pc.its a sad fact.maybe starting a petition to bring gta v on pc like pc gamers did with dark souls may help.if dark souls pc can reach 100000 signatures gta v pc can reach millions of signatures.
