PC version in the works?

Guys, read this, from RDR not coming to PC confirmation:

 

We've got bad news for you and your custom-built, Western-themed PC gaming rig (complete with tumbleweed HDD and whiskey-distilling cooling fan). Rockstar has confirmed that Red Dead Redemption is not coming to the PC. In a Q&A on the company's blog, Rockstar explains, "All we can say is that whenever it is viable (technically, developmentally and business-wise) for us to release a game for PC (or any other particular platform) – we will and we usually do; unfortunately, that is just not the case 100% of the time for all platforms."

 

The post adds, "To PC gamers, we hope that between the Grand Theft Auto titles, and the forthcoming L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3, you'll have plenty of great Rockstar action to enjoy." Just, you know, no cowboy action. Which is like, the best kind of action.

This is from October 6 th 2011. Means that they are not talking about GTA IV, they are obviously talking about the future: GTA V and so on.

R* lied. And proof is reality.... Its happening right now.

GTA V is only confirmed for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Why not the PC, Wii U and so on?

 

 

Everything else is up for consideration. That's all I can give you. The main thing is we are not... we are a third-party publisher. We're not Nintendo, we're not Sony, we're not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there's the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market. If that's on Apple we put something on Apple. Wherever it might be. I think that's the fun in what we do. We see ourselves as a content company that uses technology. We don't make it; we use it to make the most fun stuff.

The only thing we can do now is hoping that Rockstar learns to close the time gaps between consoles and PC version of their games. We can only hope that Rockstar learnt with the development of Max Payne 3 that it's maybe better to release the PC version sooner than 6-8 months after the consoles. I think it will take about two months with GTA V which is still long compared to the timelines of the other game companies.

See, the thing is, a lot of PC players are respectful to console gamers until the latter decide to hate on PC, call it useless, call every PC gamer a torrent-user, etc. It's all peaceful until somebody gets butthurt or someone's ego inflates. What the console people don't get is that we're asking for equality. We don't seek to be better than them, we just don't want to be much worse. What is it going to take away from console players? Very little to none. What is it going to give the PC gamers? Hours upon hours of fun.

In reality, I could easily borrow a friend's Xbox and play through GTA V on that. I could also buy the next generation console (since PC is being treated like sh*t more and more and loyal as I am, I'd play anything that has a PC version on Pc but the exclusives on an Xbox) and be safe for the future. But for someone that has not owned any console but the original Xbox (for a year or two), playing on the PC brings me joy. The euphoric feeling of playing a great GTA would be ruined for me if I had to wrestle with joysticks I never liked to use. Sure you can get used to them, but for some reason, I feel more in control on a PC. That's my personal opinion, but I feel that a lot of other people have the same experience. Sure we could talk about graphics and argue about modding, but the bottom line is that Rockstar could choose to make a lot of people happy and make more money, or give that money to console producers by way of making PC gamers buy Xboxes and so on...at the end of their life cycle.

The financial outcome for Rockstar would most likely be the same (it's all about weighing the amount of money it would take to make a PC version vs. the profits they'd get from it, and I think it would still be better than expecting console sales to carry them), but the amount of praise and satisfaction from customers would be much greater if a PC version was released. Be it 4 months later, whatever. As long as they release it and it actually runs, I'll be happy, and so will many others.

They don't really need to work on it, once the game is made there's not any changes made that need work on, it's like a port of the game. Maybe a few technical things but that's all.

 

I don't even know why there's a big fuss over a PC version, and PC gamer's don't need hope, GTA V for the PC WILL come out eventually, it's inevitable.

I used to be cool with console players, and still am, but I have to admit, the worst, more immature console players post on gtaforums. All they say is how they don't want GTA V on PC like it even matters to them.

 

Then there is the fact that the most annoying PC gamers post on this forum. Yeah, point out problems in ignorant posts, but don't respond with more hate. One guy in this thread even has a "Proud PC Gamer" label under his username. Seriously, you might as well give yourself a medal for taking a sh*t. I used to think PC gamers were cool too (I am indeed a PC gamer), but seriously, the worst, most stereotypical PC gamers post on the gtaforums. It is sad that the console fanboys actually have reasons to hate on PC gamers in this forum, even though it is still unecessary.

 

I guess GTA gamers in general are more likely to be immature, ignorant dicks. And we really are just gamers, PC or console users. Shoutout to the cool guys on here though, as I know there are a lot.

Hell, the people from the General Chat call us V tards even though they know that not everyone is so immature. It was like this when GTA IV was around the corner. Maybe not all the time but mostly. Now, R* wants to earn money, and it will definitely earn more money the more platforms they release the game to.

 

However, with rampant piracy on the PC, they want to cash in on the consoles first, then rely on the PC gamers who have missed the game, and those real gamers with multiple systems who want to experience the game with much higher details.

 

It's all about money to them, nothing to do with PC vs consoles love/hate relationship. The did not publish RDR for PC because they claim you would have to play it with a controller, therefore they don't want to provide bad experience for the gamers.

 

However, for GTAV, they are simply saying we have nothing to tell you now, and of course they won't be telling anything for at least several months after the game launches, to sell as many copies as possible.

 

Only after that period, they will announce PC version. But I believe it's in the pipeline. Mark my words.

No, piracy is just as bad on the X360, most games get leaked and you can buy access to partnernet despite not being a dev or member of the press, which can be used to play pirate/prerelease games and find out what's being made. So, no piracy is not a bigger problem on the pC. Go to any torrent site, and look at the top overall torrens, X360 is up in the top two or three.

 

For instance: Hitman Absolution is leaked before its release date, Halo 4 was leaked and that made the press. When was the last time a PC leak made the mainstream press?
