Miro
Trevor being able to set things on fire when he wants, not just in missions is indeed the best thing I heard from this Interview. I'm still extremely worried about PC announcements not coming. It's also surprising that yet they haven't mentioned a specific release date for the game. Spring 2013 okay, but that's lasting 2-3. In any extreme case, of not knowing anything about PC release after console release, I seriously think about getting a PlayStation 3. Gutslab
Downtown area of LS is smaller than Liberty City - now THIS is just ridiculous...first they say the whole city of Los Santos is around the size of the whole LC! now they say LS Downtown is even SMALLER than LC! WTF? what's next? we'll find out that LS's downtown's actual size is the size of the tin can?... ridiculous...simply ridiculous...i understand there're lots of countryside and deserts, which are obviously much bigger than urban areas of the map, but gimme a break...just not THAT small! i would be fine if Los Santos city was the same size as Liberty City map, but smaller than that? ...pfftt...i hope that countryside and deserts f*king worth it, otherwise i'd blame its inclusion as a reason why we got such a small downtown part... why are you so paranoid/scared
.JimmyHopkins.
Well OF COURSE the downtown (CBD) area of Los Santos Will be smaller that the whole of Liberty City, since, as others have already said - it's just ONE district. And also, I think one of the reasons why someone people think that the LS metro area looks small is because the buildings are generally smaller than the ones in Liberty City.. ...i hope you're right...but i find it hard believing anything IGN says anymore, they're just plain unreliable when it comes going into details like that...in their interpretation Downtown could be the whole urbanized part of the map!...earlier GI article told us that Los Santos is bigger the the worlds of RDR, GTAIV and San Andreas combined with a room to spare, later they elaborated that its its actually not Los Santos, but they whole GTAV map, which's quite a difference if you'd ask me...so thats why i'm being skeptical with this particular "downtown smaller than LC..." statement... if they are unreliable then why the big fuzz about it? Also what you said before is like saying : one part of LS is smaller then Liberty City...well DUUUH of course it is,look at the screens where the city is shown, does the part with the skyscrapers look like its as big as LC? seriously ,some people overreact a bit to much sometimes over some minor things that aren't a big deal at all.I actually expect LS to be smaller then LC and it will still be perfect....so chill out. Downtown of LS = the whole area of LC the whole are/city of LS = maybe two, or three times larger than LC Downtown of LS is like a equivalent to Algonquin of LC Did you saw the screens? Isn't the city alrady big enough? To be honest LC was kinda too big for me.. yes, I am serious.

Vormek
About the downtown area in Los Santos being smaller than the DT area of Liberty City. It doesn't surprise me a bit. Liberty City is based on New York and the downtown area in New York is much bigger than the one in Los Santos (Los Angeles). I was expecting this. Los Santos is still around the same size as Liberty City, which is more than enough. Plus this time we will have huge areas of wilderness, desert, mountains wetlands etc etc. I'm relatively happy about the game world R* created this time, all of you should be. It will be a great gaming experience no doubt! Just relax and stop paying attention to minor details such as not being able to buy property. It's not a big deal really. Kirsty
When they refer to 'down town' to me they are talking about just the skyscraper area. We don't really use that term in the UK so I'm not sure exactly what it refers to, but I've always thought of it has the centre of all the tall buildings. If that is the case then down town LS is obviously smaller than Liberty City in that respect because the skyline of NYC in real life is mainly skyscrapers. If you look at the wide scope screenshots of LS so far, there is a bunch of skyscrapers in the middle (down town?) and it isn't that densely populated with them but there seems to be a vast area of low rise and flat areas surrounding it. It's especially noticeable in the screenshot below. The city as a whole has already been described as the same size as Liberty (that's excluding the surrounding map of countryside/desert) so to think the city is smaller just means that you've misread the answers they are giving. Yes Downtown means the location where the skyline is. New York has a much larger skyline than LA and is a much more vertical city overall. So its obvious that the "Downtown" are of the city. Meaning where all the skyscrapers are. Would be larger in LC than LS Here is some pictures to explain it New York (And this is only a piece of it) Los Angeles Edited November 17, 2012 by gtamann123

Midtown is not Downtown. Lower and Midtown together is known by most in the boros as "The City".
Vormek
Los Angeles I must say R* did a pretty lousy job on recreating the skyline. I understand that not every building can be in the game but they should have added more highrises in the skyscraper cluster.

wwinterj
This is how I see it working in free roam: when you switch between characters, you'll see the story missions available to each one, and can choose them at will. At one point, however, two characters won't have any story missions available, and the only one available for the other character will - once it's done - open up a new set of missions for each of the three. I like this idea. Basically do one mission for each of the other characters to "finish the chapter" so to speak and then go back to your preferred character and continue doing new missions that have opened up. I hope it's the case. I don't want to be forced to play as other characters much if I don't want to. GTA has always been about freedom so it would be a shame if this was to change. I guess time will only tell. Edited November 18, 2012 by wwinterj
Kevert
LS is small because as I have thought so all along despite being in the minority that there will be another city, just not SF or LV. If the map is to be as big as they say it is then there must be at least 1 more city or else, loads of countryside towns. I would be quite disappointed if my fears are confirmed that this will be the only city.

Los Santos IS bigger than Liberty City (but do they mean that it includes the countryside or just the city?) We don't use the word downtown at all in my country, so i don't even really know what is meant with it and why it seems so significant and such a big deal. If the city (without countryside) is bigger than LC...what is there to worry?

Sounds absolutely fine with me. LC was big enough a city to explore and i bet LS is more interesting and probably more diverse to explore. And i already know i will be spending countless of hours in the countryside with my bmx, mountainbike and motorcycles, just driving off clips to see some awesome deaths ahahhaa.
