We all saw in trailer 2 that Michael when near his pool picked up a leaf and threw it to the side (0:12 seconds in). Did you realize that the leaf fell to quickly and blockey. and also when the Aston martin looking car fell from the car carrier (0:50), it stopped moving to quickly and for some reason the wheels turned. Also when the kid fell from the boat onto the car, the car swerved to the left and pretty much insta stopped.

 

The physics suck as if now. Rockstar better fix/tweak it.

EDIT

Also when the house explodes the debris is flinging around to much and not falling fast enough. Gravity is this game need to be re-looked at.

Sure, people will immediately cancel their pre-orders and refuse to buy a game that has scuba diving, plane flying, train driving and crashing, sports cars, golf, yoga, great graphics, cargo planes big enough to skydive a car out of, and many many other things because of bad leaf physics.

 

By the way, how is it living in crazy land?

3. Yes. Because lets just continue going 50MPH while your f*cking son just dropped in the car. Don't worry about him and stop for a second or anything.

2. Watch the trailer over 20 times then come back and tell us if your disappointed in leaves falling.

Did you forget who is making the game? Rockstar, not Jesus. I'm sorry that everything in a game can't be completely perfect. If you're gonna bitch over simple physics such as that, then how about you go outside and play some GTA instead of bitching about a video game not being realistic enough for you.

I'm starting to think people are now just looking for thing to complain about. 3 protagonists and no buyable proprety I can deal with, but bad leaf physics?

 

This isn't even in Zee's realm and that's saying something. confused.gif

That leaf actually fell very realistically. Air pressure manipulated it's path and made it flip out and and take a quick dive. If a leaf goes perpendicular to the ground and happens to continue with that orientation it will fall quickly since the the leaf is "cutting" into the air.

 

Just go outside and throw some leaves. They will all fall differently.

Seeing the ASton DB 5/6 lookalike falling off the truck and having it's wheels turn, adds to my theory here from a year ago http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtop...entry1060823755 that a vehicle's wheels can be set in a position without having someone in the car holding the wheel left or right. Nice to see that it seems to apply to static/unentered cars too (as in cars that have not yet been entered since spawning). Good touch of realism.

The Aston did what it probably would have in real life. It's called being in Park or having the Parking brake on, and the spinning of the car turned the wheels. You must not know much about vehicles.

 

As far as the leaf goes, I don't care enough to go back and look.

You do know those events you mentioned are all scripted, they don't actually use the physics engine.

 

There were many missions in GTA IV that were like that, most notably when chasing somebody, their car will instantly speed up if you get close, so that you cant touch them, and there are always other vehicles scripted to get in your way to make things harder, then there's the crashes; there were a few missions where the person your chasing is crashing into other cars, causing them to flip over etc... well those crashes always look unrealistic and different to how all other vehicles behave...because its Scripted.

Makes total sense! The car that fell out of the carrier simply had it's parking brake on and had it's front wheels turned to the left.

OP, go write a code script that can properly dictate more realistically the falling of leaves, and sell it to R* games and become a millionaire, since your pompous assclownish self seems to think you know the be all and end all of gaming production with a quality leaf analysis that you've blessed us all with. I can't wait to read all the game reviews that state the best feature is how the god damn leaves fall and that they all cite you as the saviour and hero of the next GTA era.

Leaf dynamics are important. I think they captured it in a very realistic way.

 

Im calling it now, the leaf was wet from pool splash. Thus having a denser mass than normal and why it appeared heavy.

 

Think about it.

The realistic leaf physics was what got me into the game to begin with. Seeing R* downgrade such a pivotal part of the series really killed my enthusiasm for this game. Pre order cancelled.

Every written code from scratch before. You see my f****ing hairline, it comes from 3 years at University attempting to write Java and Visual Basic Code. Now Pi^^ off!!!! Programmers get my respect! You dont now taking a running leap!

Agreed on the leaf. looked like It fluttered down in the wind, only faster than it should have. It didn't spear down.

 

But the other two were fine. I'd say from cut scenes which should be movie-like and they were. Also, If you slow down and go frame by frame. Theres someone driving the car that fell off the truck.

When he falls into the car, he skids and slides a bit but no brake lights. He was still moving when it cut away through. Just cutting through traffic so maybe he just drove off.

What im trying to say is that everything is not a smooth animation but seemed to be rushed. Also did u notice the lack of anti-aliasing? I bet that wont change either since the game is so big.
