Based on the Buffalo and van differences, I like the theory that they're just placeholder rumblings and work-in-progress stuff - however I have a theory of my own that Rockstar may be including multiple 'generations' (just 2 maybe 3) of some of the vehicles in order to give a feeling of continuity to the world. It's more likely that it's lack of polish, but who can say.

 

Also, I posted this in the Michael trailer thread already, but while I'm here I figured I'd add something else for us car lovers:

The inconsistencies (especially in graphics) are interesting, but in all fairness, this is a particularly ambitious game. I'm sure it's not easy to make this huge world work seamlessly, but R* always makes a quality final product. I'm glad they delayed the game because they've done a lot with it that they couldn't have with a deadline of around now.

Two different playthroughs?

The more I watch it the more it really just looks like there is a quick jump forward in time, like, a matter of seconds.

 

Trevor is strangling the old man, then there's a camera angle change, and then Trevor is strangling the old man at a different angle.

 

I think it was just a very short gap in time and a new car came up the road.

OMG! 9F with roof up! I knew I was going to see one.

 

Oh and, the pickup that looks like a Ram has a Bravado logo on the front (and bravado is based off dodge). So, more signs that this was mocking the Ram. Can't wait for the FJ Cruiser too, and the new Buffalo (damn thats sexy).

regarding the matter of the different Buffalos, i really hope the (facelifted) one is the final product. someone mentioned that one could be an earlier model, and someone also theorized they could have multiple year models of the same car. i would be fine with either, because like that one person said, it would add onto the feel of realism (not everyone drives a '05 corolla ) it addition to giving a more varied sandbox of vehicles. i really liked the buffalo in tbogt, but this facelifted model looks badASS. really hope there is a very slight level of car modification. (by that i mean no sponsorships on car, no crazy paintjobs, no rim coloring, etc)

I wouldn't be surprised to see more cars, like the Sultan RS appearing. The Feltzer Black edition could be a similar case and so can the Buffalo SRT8. Faster and better versions of common cars.

and another SUV the rear is too short to be a landstalker so it might be the shorter version of the police SUV they were talking about or the big huntley

That just may be the civilian version of that Declasse SUV, which also had a police counterpart, from at least one screen from last year.

The Police/Declasse SUV looks a lot bigger than that SUV. The Police SUV is based on something like the Suburban but this one looks smaller like the Tahoe.

I say it's a different car to anything we've classified already: we have seen all the other SUVs from every angle.

 

Actually saying that it could be the rear end of the Jeep Cherokee-esque red SUV in the ghetto train screenshot from Trailer 2.

 

 

Though the Cherokee doesn't have this much chrome trim, this seems more like old Navigator or Escalade knockoff.

 

Maybe they added chrome trim to the Landstalker seen in the Michael-on-bicycle screenshot from a while back.
