So I just played IV again, and after taking the Huntley around for a cruise, I can actually see why the Huntley S in V is a Huntley. It's definitely got the Huntley feeling on it, and I can actually see quite a lot of the Huntley on the Huntley S, even with they looking so different. Even the handling is somewhat similar, though of course, there is still a difference due to the different games.

I've had that feeling too. Like Huntley S takes the basic design cues and makes them look round and posh.

There is certainly some clever connection in all of this. Massacro seems to be Super GT's successor with a similar looking greenhouse area - as the new Vanquish is the successor to Super GT's real life counterpart.

So anyway, what else do I want from new gen... the exposed engine on the Dune Buggy is completely static, so I want it to be animated - even the 3D era BF Injection had an animated one.

Plot twist: We at Rockstar are proud to annouce the return of another GTA classic in our newest GTA Online update. As requested by many fans, the Bravado Oceanic appears once again in a Grand Theft Auto V.

Unrelated, but by the way, does anyone know which car the Polaris V8 from VCS is based on? I can't seem to find anything like it.

That may be why I like driving the Huntley S so much. The Huntley in IV was my favorite SUV and even though it wasn't the funnest car to corner in, it was enjoyable to drive. The Huntley S feels similar, although without much body roll.

That wouldn't be too bad imo.

What this game needs is more common city vehicles.

The problem wouldn't be the car itself, but calling it the Oceanic. Which wouldn't be too far off their capacities. Look at the Jester.

I would change the grille, it looks a bit weird. I'm sure R* would change anyway, they usually do it to look less like the real car, like all BMWs. By the way, it would be a Dundreary.

The Washington is an Albany, so it could be that rather than Dundreary.

But who knows, this is Rockstar we're talking about.

Come on though, look at GTA IV. It took many old names from VC and SA and turned them into modern reimaginations - Admiral, Washington, Intruder, Vincent, and so on. It made sense, since all those vehicles were old in VC and SA to fit those games' periods, and IV needed vehicles that fit the 2008 time period. Some classics were also reimagined into different classics (Emperor, Manana, Uranus).

I was kinda bummed V didn't do it that much, I think the only vehicles updated this way were Sadler and Sandking.

Man, I first thought the Carbonizzare was 100% V12 Zagato.

But now that I saw a Cali upclose, it's definitely 96% California.

It's only 40% or 45%. The only thing about it that is California inspired is the overall shape and the fact that it has a retractable aluminium top. The front fascia reminds me of an F12Berlinetta, but way too simplified, and a GT-R, which is just stupid because who the f*ck though mixing a GT-R with a Ferrari would be a good idea? I think they just improvised on the side profile, I don't know why, and of course the rear fascia is a V12 Zagato with a tacky rear diffuser and slight Ferrari resemblance.

I think they could've done a much better job on that car.

Ferraris all look the same anyway... I really don't get why anyone cares about them anymore.

So if you think all Ferrari's look the same then you probably think that:

  • All Lamborghini's look the same
  • All Bentley's look the same
  • All Audi's look the same
  • All BMW's look the same
  • All Mercedes' look the same
  • All Cadillac's look the same

Etc, etc, etc . . .

There's a thing called brand identity. And hey, at least it's not like it was back in the 30's and 40's where almost every single car looked the same no matter what brand it came from unless it was super, super expensive.

Okay so their brand identity is ugly. Which, BTW is a stupid and lazy excuse for slapping the same cues on every car. It's no better than Chevy forcing that split grille on every car and SUV they make. Or Audi making the same car in different sizes.

But Ferraris have been ugly since they ditched Pininfarina so this is nothing new. Not a single car you posted even looks remotely decent.

The only car I posted that wasn't designed by Pininfarina was the LaFerrari. And you're telling me that this isn't pretty?

Or this?

I guess that's your opinion, but I just don't agree with it. I couldn't disagree with you any less.

Turns out you're right, they have designed a few recent Ferraris. I wouldn't know because I could care less about Ferraris since the F40 came out. Of course Pininfarina has different designers now than in their heyday. The California is the cleanest design they've done in a long time and it still has lots of awkward detail conflicts. But I wouldn't expect most people to understand design aesthetics, they just see the Ferrari badge and low slung shape and think it's nice without paying attention to the details. That vent on the side and the line it creates serve no visual purpose and don't even work with the shape of the car. The door handle looks like a complete afterthought and that vent on the bottom looks like a ricer aftermarket side skirt. There's nothing special about the shape of the car at all, they just threw on a bunch of aggressive looking details that don't even fit well. And like most cars today, the headlights are just amorphous blobs that add nothing to the design.

So no, it's not pretty. It fails industrial design 101.

Need I go on?

I think you're being ridiculous and I think you're being a moron by saying, "But I wouldn't expect most people to understand design aesthetics, they just see the Ferrari badge and low slung shape and think it's nice without paying attention to the details." That's the kind of ignoramus drivel that people come up with to support their point of view just to make them feel better about themselves. I respect your opinion that you don't like modern Ferrari's. But you should respect mine as well. I like them because I think they're attractive. Not because of the badge, not because I don't pay attention to detail (I do pay attention, I do all of the time). The only modern Ferrari I don't like is the F430 because I think it looks like an uglier 360. Also I think the FF is the ugliest Ferrari out right now and the California comes second, but having said that I still like those cars a lot.

I wasn't directing that at you, I said some people.

But if you don't have any training in design and can't see how most modern Ferraris fail basic aesthetic principles then IDK what else to say.

Lookin at Rockstars habit to quickly create a car based on a new one (Elmiraj/Alpha or Jester/NSX). So, the 2nd Surano actually had a chance. If Rockstar not ruin it.

They'll likely screw it up. I mean the Surano was already a screw up. It was such a nice concept but they somehow managed to screw it up by making it a Benefactor then giving it a weird body, half-assed tail lamps, and a reused interior that looks so cheap and out of place.

Surano can be a Benefactor, just like the Dukes can be an Imponte, I guess. They're seldom based on a single car after all. It only becomes apparent when it's paid attention to - for example, the IV Buccaneer resembles a Monte Carlo but also a Buick Riviera, and we found out that it's the latter in the end when the V Buccaneer is a different Riviera.

The most confusing however have to be the various vans. Speedo is a Chevrolet Express, but Vapid badged. Then Rumpo is also a Chevy Express, but Bravado-badged and being based on it in a different way.

I think for the most part Rockstar got the brands right, especially in IV. But they just seemed to not care in V. And I'm less bothered by classics being badged wrong than I am by modern and easily distinguishable cars being badged wrong.

R* has messes with the vans since Vice City, so it isn't really a surprise.

By the way, does anyone else think the Youga looks much more like what the Rumpo did in 3D Era than the actual V Rumpo?

Dukes will be back!

As will be the seaplane, but this time Dodo is the seaplane.

Dat Z-Type screenshot... takes me back to when I was a couple months old.

Also, the screens may be hinting that the DLC vehicles may be integrated into the game. Just what I wanted.
