Tailgater is amusing but it should be 7F, with an (as yet unseen but probably included) SUV called 8F. The Carbonizzare (sounds like a type of sauce or something... hardly inspirational) should just be the Annis Alpha let's be fair.

And the "Dubsta"?! barf8bd.gif It should be "Panza" if anything.

Hmm... Seems to have the same exact rims as the Quatroporte/Jaguar lookalike, but the body is obviously a lot more blocky and angled when compared to the Quatroporte.

What I see that can match :

(sorry again I can't post pic..)

Specific things on the car on the 'new' screenshot :

- the chrome bar on the rear = matches with the #37 pic 2

- the 'triangle' / pointy rear lights = matches with the #37 pic 2

- the chrome bar below the side windows = do not match exactly (it's not that large on previous screenshots)

- the 'bump' on the hood = matches with the #37 pic 1

- the rims = = matches with the #37 pic 1

Global line of the car do match. Less obvious with #37 pic 1

Just my personal analysis ^^

Anyone else think Obey 7F sounds better than Obey Tailgater?

At first I don't understand why they named the Obey sedan Tailgater because at least in Germany, BWM and Mercedes drivers are more known for being tailgaters than Audi drivers.

Yes 7F sounds better but I honestly expected a name that makes a reference to a movie where an Audi sedan plays a big role like the Transporter series.

I like the names. I really do. Besides, there already IS one F. The 9F. We don't need 7F, that would be repetetive.

I've got a strong feeling unnamed sedans 3 & 10 are the same vehicle. Both seem to have the Hoffmeister kink in the rear side window. The pumped, high-tech sleeper look appeals to me tremendously. A smooth body with minimal shutlines & panel gaps (hidden in all the usual ways- running them along chrome lines (which here are minimal- very sporty) and wheel arches etc.) hides a howling V8 (two exhaust modes: Loud, and LOUDER) and massive wide wheels wrapped in fat rubber over gargantuan drilled discs gripped by chunky coloured calipers. A Coquette saloon.

I'm absolutely loving this game if my theory is true. This will become my favourite car over the venerable unnamed sedan 5. I'm betting it'll be quite rare.

EDIT: It's sedans 3 & 10, not sedans 3 & 8. WTF was I thinking.

If I can be honest, I was dissapointed with a lot of the new names this time around. The Rapid was already used by Aston Martin, the Tailgater sounds like little to no effort was put into it, and most of all the Dubsta, Dear God, the Dubsta. What does that even mean... I mean I guess I wouldn't mind it so much if it was the name of the Japanese SUV, but European carmakers are usually all about luxury and nobility and the term "Dubsta" is the literal opposite.

Oh man, I'm not the only one who thought "Dubsta" sounded completely idiotic.

I guess R* doesn't want to use the "Model letter and variant number" Mercedes uses in real life so the name's easier to remember. Almost no cars are named like that in IV or V, we'll never see a name like MP4-12C, it's gotta be a word.

it sort of makes sense. The name of this car is Mercedes Gelandewagen, often shortened G-Wagen, or G-wagon, So G-Wagon = Dubsta.

A combination of Dub, and Gangsta.

The real irony of this is that the G Wagen was originally a rugged, simple car built for offroading, and in many countries used as a military vehicle ( Norway included) While it is now often sold amongst "gangstas" and is for one thing, popular in Russia, with the luxury trim the newer versions have.

Older G-wagen.

see my post on page 340. i made a comparison picture of those 2 cars, and another 2. one thing someone pointed out is that Unnamed Sedan 3 has a more curved rear end, and 8 is more straight

Yeah, you could do so in GTA IV by holding Y/Triangle, didn't do anything of worth though. So it's great to see that it's actually useful this time around.

Were i live Audi drivers are known for being tailgaters, Mercedes drivers are known for owning the road and BMW drivers are fine unless you get the occasional person going 40 km/h in a 60 zone, wonder if there is a new Mercedes lookalike other than the Dubsta if they will put a Mercedes pun on it, also was hoping there would be the Huntley Sport from GTA IV would be in V but i guess not.

why are people bothered by names?  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif  confused.gif  bored.gif

The vehicle names in the series have generally been spot on because they tend to be very subtle, make sense, and in most cases, describe the characteristics of the car perfectly. I still think Sentinel is the coolest name in the entire series. Obviously Rockstar was aware of how much fans appreciated the vehicle names, which is why a massive chunk of the names carried over to the brand new GTA IV era even if they didn't need to. The names in GTA IV were generally good; Ingot to describe a bland station wagon like it's literally a block of metal and nothing else, Oracle is a good name as well for a large luxury sedan, Pinnacle, etc. There were misses like the Schafter, DF8-90, Chavos and the like, but vehicle names in the series are generally very spot-on.

This time around, the names are in-your-face parodies which is something Saints Row does, not GTA We get it; the Dubsta sounds like a wannabe gangster's car. There is a car in real life which is known to be driven by drug dealers, but you would never know that, because in GTA IV it's called a Huntley Sport, and not something like 'Dope Wagon'. Similarly, Carbonizzare sounds like they didn't know what to name their Ferrari parody, so they combined two random words like an 8 year old would in hopes that it would work. Like someone mentioned, these names, along with 'Lampadati Felon' and 'Entity XF' sound like the generic ones you find in racing games with unlicensed cars.

Ah right, I just remembered.

@Stingray Chavos was great don't see what's the problem here, not every name has to be witty or carry a hidden meaning you know, and Schafter fits with the sexual innuendo theme set by the Feltzer, if anything I'm hoping for a third car named the Fiedler. And Lastly, as I've explained to the other Stingray Felon DOES work.

I'm honestly kinda worried: It seems that with GTA V, R* is REALLY trying to appeal to the dumb SA fanboys who hated GTA IV, which is why they're going for such ridiculous names and stuff. I'm already worried about the driving physics--if those SAkiddies are the reason for these dumb names...ugh.

Nah that can't be, San Andreas had by far the most generic games out of every game in the series, Merit, Elegant, Vincent, Tornado, Remington, Buccaneer, Elegy, Jester, Super GT, Bullet... etc etc.

But that's kind of the thing...they may have went TOO far the other way to compensate for the SA fanboys who didn't like IV. Companies all around and in all businesses have a tendency to swing way too far in one direction, and even a high-quality one like R* might make a few screw-ups.

I just guess that I have issues with the names R* gives to cars because they have degenerated, and I always think there could be something better.

Like, really a Stallion SHOULD be a Mustang and a Sabre should be a Cutlass, but neither are true. They would be clever names if they were consistant and well-thought out; i.e. considering the actual ideas/systems behind naming the real car. The names are starting to sound more like Saints Row - gimmicky and generic.

For a game that had really good names for brands, I look to the first Mafia. Lassiter for Cadillac is the best fictional car name I have ever heard.

these names remind me of the names used in Beta III... the Sentinel was called Beamer, the Manana (then based on a Plymouth Reliant/ Dodge Aries) was named Ariant... then they changed the names to the counterparts that we know them as...since then we've come to hold R* to a higher standard... i mean, even if you ARE trying to appeal to the SA fanboys... i can't really recall anyone complaining that the car names in GTA IV were too good or realistic and should be dumbed down...

Beamer, Ariant, Tailgater, Dominater and Lampadati...

they just don't belong with

Sentinel, Manana, Stratum, Huntley, and Albany, Ubermacht, and Grotti

just my two cents...

So.......... for the Khamelion, would you really have to pay for paint jobs? It'll be cool if you didn't have to, since you can probably "blend in" with the environment to escape from cops, or gangs and more.

I'm with you guys on the names. But these are names for pretty ostentatious cars (except the Dubsta, I'll be making that an offroader like the original G-wagon). Let's not overlook the better names, like Bodhi, Rebel, Gauntlet (my favorite), Khamelion, Surano and Dominator. Granger does roll off the tongue a bit awkward though, I don't see why they didn't just call it the Rancher...

Surano works for you? i think that was actually the worst copout (IMO) ... it's like if Chevy said, oh well we already have the Chevy Cruze, but you know what, just to f*ck with people, lets release our newest SUV model as the Chevy Crews, ya know, your whole CREW'S gone be up in there with ya!

Granger had me wondering too... even if we can't use the name "ranger" anymore, Granger doesn't really sound that good to replace it...but the Tailgater is the one i really had to shake my head at... it's becoming a pattern... confused.gif
