Anyone else think Obey 7F sounds better than Obey Tailgater?

If I can be honest, I was dissapointed with a lot of the new names this time around. The Rapid was already used by Aston Martin, the Tailgater sounds like little to no effort was put into it, and most of all the Dubsta, Dear God, the Dubsta. What does that even mean... I mean I guess I wouldn't mind it so much if it was the name of the Japanese SUV, but European carmakers are usually all about luxury and nobility and the term "Dubsta" is the literal opposite.

According to GTA Wiki Rapid GT was just a play on the Aston Martin Rapide's name. The Tailgater got its name because Audi owners are supposedly known for tailgating. Dubsta was a combination of D.U.B. and the gangsta mobile. The only name I can't really fathom is Felon, that sounds really childish. Its like a name you'd expect in an E rated racing game with unlicensed vehicles. Felon isn't a play on anything nor is it perverted. Rockstar did a better job naming their cars in IV. But hey smile.gif at least the cars are doing a better job resembling their real life counterparts compared to IV.

Wait, where does the Felon name come from?

Lampadati Felon GP.. was named in the CVG online gameplay article

Yeah that Dubsta name is really pants truth be told, What I wouldn't give to have it called the Benefactor G-spot.

I thought the car in that picture was a Huntley Sport, have we even seen one of them yet?

If you're willing to count the Evoque lookalike, then yeah. Other than that, we didn't see anything.

We have seen what looks like a regular Huntley since the first trailer though.

Oh man, I'm not the only one who thought "Dubsta" sounded completely idiotic.

I guess R* doesn't want to use the "Model letter and variant number" Mercedes uses in real life so the name's easier to remember. Almost no cars are named like that in IV or V, we'll never see a name like MP4-12C, it's gotta be a word.

That's why they said, Almost no cars were named like that, I mean two out of what the 100+ cars in IV isn't much.

Well PMP was a pun, but you have a point.

I think that number-letter names are really boring in real life, but I would at least prefer if R* kept continuity. If you call one Audi a 7F, at least have the decency to call the other one a 4F. If you call one Tailgater, use a word for the other one. Go with themes for auto makers.

Sentinel and Oracle made sense together, but Tailgater and 7F sound stupid with each other.

You mean the 9F? Yeah I was super disappointed in the "7F" actually being a tailgater.

That name would have been absolutely perfect for a big american pickup truck.

Eh, sorry. I paid more attention to the American cars. IMO GTA car names could be a lot better. IV introduced brands rather messily.

#79 Oracle 2 looks to me like it has the front end and body of a 1999-2000 Mercury Cougar:

Has it? Searched the topic for the RL model name and didn't come up with anything relating to that specific vehicle. Oh well.

The Mercury more fits the Unnamed Sports Car 10 as seen on the sides.

The trim and raised door bumpers on the sides was part of an options package. Here's a pic of a car without them:

Change the shape of the headlights and it's pretty darn close IMHO.

Eh, I'm glad they got made fictional brands at all. It's a really cool level of detail even if they sometimes were a little odd (Why is the Corvette a completely unique company instead of being a Declasse?)

However, I hope they aren't as lazy--the amount of re-used stuff is sometimes ridiculous. The Bullet GT uses literally the exact same chassis as the Turismo--they didn't even remove the "TURISMO" labeling from the engine or dashboard! Come on, R*.

I don't have a problem with the Turismo, it's that R* just re-used its interior for a completely different car and didn't even try to hide it.

from the company that brought you the Sentinel, the Huntley and the Infernus... now introducing the Tailgater, Dubsta and Carbonizzare... the Dubsta doesn't bother me as much as the other two... i don't care if audi drivers do tailgate, the truth is it's a pretty weak name... and carbonizzare just sounds generic as hell IMO...

oh yes, and who could forget, the Dominator... if R* is pinching pennies by cutting down on the naming department, it's showing....

that said, i can't wait to drive the Tailgater... It's a pretty hot looking car, BUT i really wish they would rename it... like packardcaribien said, Continuity... 7F makes way more sense... if they want to make a statement about Audi drivers, maybe the drivers of those cars should be more aggressive in-game...

Part of me thinks the fauxerrari could have its name somewhat inspired by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrozzeria_Scaglietti, See the connection.

No, just no. The Cougar is a sports coupe. That car is based on the BMW 6 series, a luxury sedan. Where do people get some of these ideas from... confused.gif

it sort of makes sense. The name of this car is Mercedes Gelandewagen, often shortened G-Wagen, or G-wagon, So G-Wagon = Dubsta.

A combination of Dub, and Gangsta.

The real irony of this is that the G Wagen was originally a rugged, simple car built for offroading, and in many countries used as a military vehicle ( Norway included) While it is now often sold amongst "gangstas" and is for one thing, popular in Russia, with the luxury trim the newer versions have.

Older G-wagen.

I agree, a lot of the new car names are disappointing sad.gif. I know that the tailgater and such are named after people in audis tailgating and such but it's still disappointing

I personally thought tailgater was a great name, as generally (over here at least) thats what they spend most of there time doing (well until you put your foot down and leave them standing)

Did any of you saw that screenshot ?

I can't post pic, but it is in that

at 7:15 min.

It's another shot of the "unnamed sedan 4" (#37) apparently, with a Blaine county police cruiser.

If you already saw it, my bad ^^

Hmm... Seems to have the same exact rims as the Quatroporte/Jaguar lookalike, but the body is obviously a lot more blocky and angled when compared to the Quatroporte.
