TenEightyOne
In the little spare time that I have I'm a very amateur singer/songwriter; I write all kinds of things and a few months ago found myself putting together a song about San Andreas. Strange, but those of you who play instruments will know the kind of strange places your imagination can take you to from time to time. I've performed it a few times in public and it goes down quite well although few audience members understand the reference. When they do however they get pretty noisy - in a good way! I wasn't going to post this bit, but here's a very rough cut that I put together to try the guitars out - please don't tell me how bad the vox are! TMH(SA).zip. Well, here are the lyrics; Take Me Home (San Andreas) Weeeell... My boss would say I don't drink too much Don't work too hard Don't drink too much But I'm happy when I roll my truck across the County line. I gotta run fast 'cos I gotta hot load An' the cops have got my number and they're runnin' real close But a thousand bucks says I'll dump my load by five. Well the desert looks peaceful sliding by But there's more in there than meets the eye; You wanna see the things that fly when the sun goes down. I swear one night in that velvet black I was passed by some dude with a jet on his back Chased by an Apache flown by Michael Myers. Take me home, San Andreas. Bayside to the South Los Santos shore. I never thought much to the West Coast vibe 'Til a girl in San Fierro went and blew my mind... ...and more. There's a U-FO bar where I sometimes sit. The owner's a girl with 80 inch hips And she swears that an alien ship beamed her up one night. They came a million miles just to read her mind, Kind o'makes you wonder what they hoped to find And how they hoisted that heifer using only the power of light. Take me home... Liberty might seem real nice And if you're escaping from a life of vice Then the bright Star Junction lights might lift your soul. But I was always cold there and alone So this Bayside boy's a comin' home To drop eighteen wheels on the desert road and drive! Take me home, San Andreas. Las Venturas spin your wheels for me. I never thought much to the West Coast vibe 'Til a girl in San Fierro went and blew my mind... ...and more. (More quietly) Well I got a lotta girls but I got no wife, Denise was cool so we went for a drive Then a guy with a camera took his life before our eyes. She said "Take me home, I don't feel so good - And I swear that something's watching me from outta those woods, And I got hot coffee - just don't tell the FBI". Mokrie Dela
That's not bad man I laughed at the last line You said you've performed it, was it to a crowd that would be familiar with gta? But mmuch respect to you; I've performed in front of a crowd, and it take balls, even more so when it's your own work Btw what is c&w? I know I'll kick myself but I just can't think I must say though I quite like this. The hot load bit made me laugh; good double entendre inthr same vein as rockstar themselves. It's good to see porms and songs uploaded here. We don't get that many here so thanks for sharing Edited November 17, 2012 by Mokrie Dela The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. Verdant
That's beautiful. Great work man, I haven't seen anything like this before . And I swear that something's watching me from outta those woods,And I got hot coffee - just don't tell the FBI". I chuckled there, it has a funny genre to the song. Love it! TenEightyOne
Haha, thanks guys I perform live fairly often - mostly to people who know nothing about GTA, on rare occasions when I introduce it I here a few "woots" from the back and I know there are some GTA fans in. Like most songwriters I concentrate on things that mean something to me; my partner thought it was hilarious when I started writing a song about San Andreas

TenEightyOne
oh and a side note regarding your voice - It wasnt as bad as you made out. Well - thank you I never seem to succesfully mix my own voice... I guess it's hard to hear it from a neutral critical standpoint.
Mokrie Dela
Indeed it is A couple of years ago me and my mate recorded a cover of 'Galway girl' and I have yet to build up the courage to upload it. My vocals are poor, but my gf loves it and Simeon else said its alright! Mixing is an artform like every other field of music. It can be tricky But I liked the song you did; your voice and the guitars have a charm to them, sorta like American south country folk music. Add some bass and drums to that and hell I'd buy it (if it was on iTunes ) The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.
