Hey maybe it's silly that i'm asking it here, but i just wanted to know...

How come you guys were down for the last couple of hours?

Was it due to heavy traffic? I just want to make sure i haven't missed anything GTA V related... like uh, i don't know, the new trailer that's on it's way

Apologies for the downtime - especially with the influx of new GTA V info - but we had no option other than taking the network offline.

 

Rather embarrassingly, we almost ran out of storage space on our database server. We didn't anticipate our database growing quite this quickly.

 

Needless to say we've added more storage so we don't anticipate this happening again any time soon.

 

Damn, is it too late to blame Sandy?

Sorry to ask Tank (your honour my highness) but does deleting threads create more storage space? Or do staff still have a way to access deleted threads in a sort of 'archive'?

The staff stores and can access EVERYTHING!

 

There is a recycle bin where all binned topics are automatically sent to. Only mods and admins can view it.

Deleted threads do, indeed, go to an archive. At least in V section. Access is limited to global moderators and admins, I believe.

GTAV.net takes token from gtaforums, I believe to check which member is logged in and so the member name on the right side of GTAV.net's home page.

I'm sure that the whole gtanet is on the same server.
