When I was like 4 I snuck up on my older cousin and bit him in the thumb as hard as I possibly could. When he asked "Why the hell did you do that?", I responded "Because I didn't have a knife". sneaky2.gif

I really like this one, it kinda gets to me when i think about our mortality and what we believe to be our lives to be. All Our lives really are to us, is a collection of moments and memories...

All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.

Which is said in a way.

I forget who said it, some say Rowan Atkinson, there's a song about it, and it's in Blade Runner, where it originated is questionable, but i guess it doesn't matter.

Yeah, that makes it strike home just a little bit more, clearly that one resonated with him too. How sad.

It *IS* from "Blade Runner". Rutger Hauer ad-libbed it on the final day of shooting. Ridley Scott liked it enough to keep it in and it has become one of the great movie quotes.

The personal, as everyone's so f*cking fond of saying, is political. So if some idiot politician, some power player, tries to execute policies that harm you or those you care about, take it personally. Get angry. The Machinery of Justice will not serve you here – it is slow and cold, and it is theirs, hardware and soft-. Only the little people suffer at the hands of Justice; the creatures of power slide out from under with a wink and a grin. If you want justice, you will have to claw it from them. Make it personal. Do as much damage as you can. Get your message across. That way you stand a far better chance of being taken seriously next time. Of being considered dangerous. And make no mistake about this: being taken seriously, being considered dangerous, marks the difference – the only difference in their eyes – between players and little people. Players they will make deals with. Little people they liquidate. And time and again they cream your liquidation, your displacement, your torture and brutal execution with the ultimate insult that it's just business, it's politics, it's the way of the world, it's a tough life, and that it's nothing personal. Well, f*ck them. Make it personal.

And also at the end of the quote in GTA3Freak's signature it says 'time to die' which makes our loss even more sad

But here are two of my favourite quotes:

I always tell the truth, even when I lie.

- Tony Montana (Scarface)

In this country, you gotta make the money first. Then when you get the money, you get the power. Then when you get the power, then you get the women.

- Tony Montana (Scarface)

Yes, I like Scarface. Probably my favourite movie of all time. smile.gif

Did you bother reading anyone else's quotes? Because it's already been mentioned a few times in this topic and you make it sound like you're the first to bring it up.

By the way Thanks to the guy who confirmed it from Blade Runner.

Another one to keep on topic, i have no idea who said this.

You can do anything, but not everything.

EDIT: I do actually thanks to a google search. It's by David Allen some motivational speaker guy who seems to do these talks to try and help people become successful.

Here's what GTA3Freak's sig says:

Open your eyes and spot the difference. I was merely bringing up that his quote had an extended part on the end.

And for the sake of being on topic:

Try not, do or do not. There is no try.

Touche?

The extended part isn't really extended, that is the original quote Chris didn't add it, mine was shortened and i shortened it for a reason because i felt the last part was unnecessary. But whatever.

It's too bad she won't live! But then again, who does?

Interesting.

But my favourite.

I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

I've got a heap that I love but that just sums up MJ.

Nothing is True, Everything is Permitted.

That is not by him, when I went to Alamut (the Iranian Masyaf, because Al-Mualim was Iranian and all) there was a sign reading that he didn't really say that, nor was there such a creed.

Not much is known about them, some speculate that Hashashin was possibly related to the Turkish name for Opium, Hashash, (because Alamut and most other places the Hashashin were located are places where Azeri Turkish is/was spoken) while others still stand with the Hashish theory.

^ I like the advice one. It reminds of a quote from The Devil's Advocate (most likely inspired from somewhere else) said by Al Pacino: "The worst vice is advice."

There's also "Not even a good thing is as good as nothing.". I think this one is my favorite; I don't know if this is the exact phrasing and I can't find the author.

I also like "A man can do what he wants, but not want what he wants." by Schopenhauer.

If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you've got a business—you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen.
