You guys should have listened to me all the time.

If by "going against other ppls opinions for the sake of it but not knowing sh*t" then sure, you were right.

By saying May 2013 for month now - yes. I was right.

I'll remember this when I'm playing V in April.

It's probably safe to say it's only been in real production for about 2 years. The couple years before was probably a bunch of lollygagging and loosely guided development and story creation. I'm guessing the nitty gritty developing was started much more recently.  confused.gif

We can make a gross estimation of how long the development of GTA V take. GTA V is developed by Rockstar North. The last project before GTA V, that Rockstar North made was Agent. The last time we heard from this game was late 2009 when in a newswire post the release for 2010 was announced. November 2009 was the time when Dan Houser claimed to The Times that it's likely that the sript of GTA V will have 1000 pages. He claimed that Rockstar "will think of a city first, then the characters". That pretty much sounds for me that GTA V was in its very early stage of development. So I think GTA V development was beginning in early 2010. GTA V will be released in spring 2013 which would mean GTA V was 3 years in development.

@73Duster: Err, I only want to hear what Strauss Zelnick says, no prediction or anything, lol. Calm down.

I wasn't attacking you, because you seem like a nice guy, but i'm just pointing out that shareholder meetings aren't a surefire way to predict anything. Sure, you can get an idea of what MIGHT happen, but it's not rock solid. The stock market is a casino, and if it was so predictable, EVERYONE would become rich off of it. I said the game would come out between March and June, which seems likely, and i'm not beating my chest about it because it was a GUESSTIMATE. I got lucky, but i didn't get my take from any financial report. Again, this is not an attack, but a reminder that these countdowns have always led to nothing.

Okay, they have downgraded it from 1.7-1.8 billion dollar to 1.1-1.2 billion dollar so that are 30%. Now we can see how much GTA V can move (even though I already knew it before tounge.gif). Take-Two expected $1.75-$2 earnings per share and now it's downgraded to $0.0-$0.20. Yeah, that's pretty much.

A few months ago you and bud23 and tons of other guys were proclaiming to everybody how V would come out before march and that it was a sure thing.

"2012 believers" = owned.

Let's see, first you were WRONG about October, then it was all about 2012, THEN it was all about the "fiscal year 2012" meaning March, and now you start a whole NEW countdown? Dude, you've been wrong EVERY F*CKING TIME! I keep telling you that the stock market is an unpredictable place to make predictions.

He along with bud23 were wannabe experts all along. They're kids. Offcourse they only knew f*ck all.

Are you complete idiots or just kids or what?

Previous Take-Two's financial predictions indicated that the game will be released before April. Now they have changed their predictions

Yes and it's not surprising because financial predictions change all the time.

You people shouldn't have put to much weight on the financial predictions from TakeTwo to begin with. But no you had to proclaim them as evidence that V was gonna come before march.

I remember quite a few people telling you guys not to take that old financial prediction from TT as gospel. This is exactly why. You didn't listen.

You and all other 2012 believers were just teenage wannabe experts on an internet gaming forum thinking they are finanacial analysts.

All these so-called "Analytical" threads about revenue forecasting and financial information is totally bogus. None of this information in the past pointed to a Spring 2013 release. Everyone in the "analyze financial reports" camp said 2014 release or late Q4 2013 (generally).

We got the information we were looking for. Leave it be lmao. And a thank you to Rockstar.

Sorry, you're just ignoring information. In spring 2011 Take-Two started talking about revenue for fiscal 2013, ending in March 2013, which could only be explained by a GTA game, based on company history of never doing anything else that successful. This was the first indication that GTA V was intended to come out BEFORE the end of March 2013. There's no other explanation.

It's also unlikely Rockstar intended for the first trailer to come out a year and half before the game.

Clearly, they made the correct choice not announcing a release date, and by that decision they allowed themselves freedom to take their time. But that doesn't mean there's no evidence they wanted GTA V to come out sooner than it's going to.

When you beat a prediction to death for MONTHS, don't be surprised that there will be people who will remember and call you out on it. Masterfocker has been strangely silent, don't you think?

To all the people who were gettin butthurt because I was saying they wouldn't release gtaV that close to Bioshock because of cannibalism between the 2 products. Told you so!!

Now suck my dick!!

The bottom line is rockstar learned from ur mistakes of GTA IV. Instead of announcing a release date when they know it's pending they are waiting until they are certain.

The projections show that a release before march 2013 was intended but they obviously hit some development road blocks and have changed the window.

The financial projections is a source of intentions but is obviously not concrete. To think that rockstar intended on a spring 2013 release back when they released the trailer in November of 2011 is absurd.

I agree.

I think it was meant to be out this month but, as usual, they had to delay. Technically, it wasn't really a delay since they never gave us a release date. It was just delayed internally.

It has been obvious since ~mid 2012 that a release wasn't happening this year. The financial predictions can be changed at any time. I think they were planning to ship it for March (since thats what they had been saying since the start of FY2013) but between July and now they have encountered a slight delay which pushed it into FY2014.

I'm not disappointed with it. I'm happy with just "Spring 2013" right now. I'm fine with a release in April or May (possibly June but unlikely I think).

I always knew my opinions were unpopular and I totally understand why everybody believed in Carl or Masterfocker.

Because they wanted to believe.

I had one clear advantage on my side - I used common sense.

If GTA V is out after March, then why can we pre-order it on Nov, 5th? Isn't that to early or is that normal to have a 6+ month gap???

I agree with this. I would much rather there be an internal delay than an external delay. Announcing a Spring 2013 release was a smart move. It gives them a large window in case they need a few more weeks in development. I would hate for them to say it's coming out on X day and then two months before the release they change it to Y day.

That's my opinion. Personally I would like to see the game come out in mid-May, only because I have exams and I want to be able to focus on them.

Yeah, I know that finance reports aren't fact since they are based on predictions which can change quickly. But Take-Two predicted numbers since May 2011 ($2 earnings per share) that can only be earned with the release of GTA V. May 2012 was the first time when Take-Two has spoken about the expected income itself (1.75-1.85 billion dollar) and the earnings per share that were upgraded to $2.25. All this gave us, with the help of historical facts, an idea what to expect or better said when to expect it. Sure, it's not set in stone since this are predictions that can change any time but you can get an idea of all this. That was the whole point of it. The countdown I made is only made for people who want to listen to the conference call. I only listen to it this time because I want to hear what they have to say. Nothing significant. The post from GlamFM wasn't aimed at you.

Oh, well, to be honest I don't give a f*ck what you say since it seems that you don't have a good point unlike 73Duster. You could've at least elaborated your opinion but yeah. bored.gif

Rockstar have said themselves that this time around they aren't gonna announce anything until they are absolutely 100% sure that it's right. The best they can do right now is "Spring 2013". We'll get an exact date when they are certain of it happening.

They learned from IV and previous games. They always delay games. Technically, they never delayed the game because they never gave out a date. I prefer it this way smile.gif

Yeah man, i think that's the case too. Otherwise they would have announced a release date much earlier already, but they didn't. And now they still aren't giving a concrete release date, so they have space to push it further a month, if need be. I just hope it's going to be April and that there won't be any unpleasant surprises further down the road, but i know for sure we all hope that.

GTA IV was delayed due to issues with the PS3 version, i wonder what kind of problems they ran into this time. Cause it's quite plausible to think that they had intended October this year planned?

And this for a good reason. They don't have delayed GTA V because of Bioshock Infinite. If Take-Two would think like you think, then why was Duke Nukem Forever released 24 days after L.A. Noire? Both games were AAA-titles and Take-Two had relatively high expectations for these games.

How awesome would it have been if they never announced ANYTHING about the existence of the game until NOW? They could have come out with the same info they just released about GTAV coming this spring, and nobody would be complaining about any delays. Although Rockstar took a good step by not giving any concrete release dates, and therefore avoiding delay announcements, they should have kept EVERYTHING under wraps until now. Hopefully, next time they will just wait until the game is ACTUALLY on the verge of completion, and then surprise everyone with a sudden release date.

Yeah, that would have been explosive, even more than it was back in November 2011. Let's hope that this is the case next time.
