After playing the 360 version even more for a constant of 8 hours, I can say this...

 

The game had no business releasing on current-gen platforms.

 

I love the game itself. It's an amazing experience that I'm very immersed in but...

 

It's technically awful. It's an incredible achievement, but at what cost? I'm starting to think that it would've been better to delay it to about April-May 2014 and just release it on PC and Next-gen only side by side.

 

I mean look, GTA Online is basically broken. Didn't Rockstar say they can't remove people's money? So people are stuck with modded money? Awaiting a ban, if anything? It seems like a mess to me, just reading about the stuff.

 

I'm obviously quite aware of the apparent reason to release on current-gen. But I'm mostly talking from a technologically optimal and balanced standpoint.

 

Damn how beautiful it all would've been if we just waited for early next year...

 

But hey, it's Rockstar Corp now. Not Rockstar Games.

Unfortunately they are using this answer on other questions to, but maybe they'll announce it soon as they answer this also to the heists question for the online mode.

Other questions which were answered some days ago, asking about a next gen version, were answered that they have not released any information about that.

As they say "Keep an eye out for info on that on our newswire page", this means they are going to share some information about the PC version, am I right (I know that there is a PC version)? Otherwise they would say "Unfortunately we have no info on this topic...".

I strongly believe that GTA V will be the first GTA game that I will play on PC since GTA 1 back in 1997.

 

The current state of GTA V on the console is horrible. And when I speak about GTA V I speak about Singleplayer.

Expect a PC/NG announcement together. PC release date was pushed back for a simultaneous PC/Next-gen release instead, the recent find of "PC/NG only" in the visual.dat files strongly suggests this. PS4/XB1 release sales have been huge, and in a few short months (2 - 3 months), there will be a huge user base from which R* will make profit from.

 

I'd be shocked if PC version gets announced separately.

As for the Tweet, it's the first time we've ever received such a response with regard to the PC version. In the past months, they've either said "no information to share on that", or have simply ignored the question. The fact that they actually chose to respond to the question without beating around the bush for once, leads me to believe that we are indeed close to getting an announcement.

PC is also doubtful whether it will solve it or create additional time consuming problems in polishing online. I just pray among all this confusions single player of PC game doesn't suffer.

Well I was a BA in an online game so I have some experience in that matter, I had a "GM tool" where I could monitor and take actions about game items and player actions. It all depends on the effort they put in those tools. In an online game for example when there is a major issue, like some huge exploit that people abuse or there is sign of some major hacking and unbalance of the economy, usually the option that allows it is locked if possible, and later it's performed a "server rollover", which basically reverts all the earned items back to a day that was in a backup.

 

If Rockstar acted soon as they knew this, they could have done it but they had to have the issue solved, but Rockstar not only have to wait till they get clearance to force an update on consoles but also had to do a major change and testing to make sure it works.

 

If within Rockstar "GM tool" they had a "flagging system" that signals awkward events in player accounts like receiving a huge amount of money and RP in a small period of time, or level a lot in a matter of minutes or even in the change of the number of money characters in the player deposit (imagine going from $100 to $100.000 in a few hours) or any event out of the normal the system would flag those users and provide a report that GM's could investigate and take proper action.

 

I mean there are plenty of things that can be added to a monitoring tool and aren't hard to use once they are implemented into the game system, and would guarantee the safety of the game and the protection of their own investment. I mean who would pay Rockstar real money to acquire virtual money when they can easy get it using an exploit or by trading with someone? Without mentioning the pararlel markets created within this, like people selling in game money for half or less of the price of Rockstar without any profit for the company.

Rockstar answers are the normal ones, although the fact that they answer this is a strong indicator that it will happen, otherwise they would say what they did when asked about RDR for PC and say "at this moment we have no plans for releasing this title on PC". Here they say they don't have any information to share about it, which is very different.

I do hope they've got instructions or not just misread the question as they saw "PC".

But now we're way behind the release for the consoles, so it could be possible now.

Yeah, but do you know how many people have sent questions about PC to their official Twitter support page in the past months -- couple of years? I'd wager that number is probably and collectively in the thousands by now, and to my knowledge, this is the first time they've bothered to openly respond to such inquiries in this fashion (openly on Twitter). The Rockstar e-mail support team (not Twitter) typically gave automated responses which were incredibly vague, and always mentioned there was nothing to share at the moment before hand:

 

"although we have no information to release about this subject, we recommend staying tuned to newswire"

 

As evidenced by several others in here, that response was clearly automated, and was given to everybody who inquired about the PC or next-gen versions. On the other hand, this recent response from the official Twitter page was pretty direct. None of this "nothing to share right now" automated crap that we've been getting for the past two months. And the simple instance of them responding in this manner "keep an eye out", could mean announcement plans are on the horizion. I mean, how much longer do they expect people to "keep an eye out" for? Months more? A few weeks sounds more reasonable than months with that kind of wording.

 

Aside from that, it's now December, and the advent of an announcement shouldn't come as a shock to anyone. December is not by any means "too early", as I've read some people comment......I say It's about goddamn time they make an announcement.

 

Also, PS3/360 sales of the game plummeted dramatically after the first week of launch, and have held steady at that point, neither increasing or decreasing too much ever since. Holding out much longer before announcing the PC and NG versions on the hope that doing so will generate more sales for the last-gen versions, doesn't seem wise from a business perspective. I suppose some last minute "milking" is a possibility (R* is greedy enough), but if the last two and half months of sales numbers are indicative of anything, then the Holidays won't exponentially increase their profit margins.

 

There will be an uptick in sales numbers in the next couple of weeks for sure, but nothing too dramatic. There won't be a massive explosion in sales this month, and definitely nothing that approaches what they accomplished in their first week. A large portion of the casual gaming community (console people) have shifted their focus to the news consoles, and sales and focus for those are expected to increase significantly throughout this month and beyond. GTA V hype is nearing it's end by this point, and R* is probably dealing with diminishing returns when it comes to last-gen GTA V sales.

 

However, a PC and Next-gen announcement will put them right back in the spotlight for sure.
