Cutscene animation, eh? Which part of Rockstar was it that was hiring an animator yesterday, again? I remember someone mentioning that. Not sure what branch of Rockstar, though.

Kindled, work your stalker magic skills and track down this "Ryan Schracter" person.

Make him talk.

Make him talk good.

It was R* Toronto apparently. Who knows if those two applications are connected, tho.

By the way, Rockstar Toronto(they were porting GTA IV, EFLC and making MP3 for PC) were searching for Animator a week ago.

Oh, they aren't. If it was the same studio (Which it wasn't, confirmed by you quoting this obviously), I was gonna say that they fired this guy for spilling the beans (Yes, 8 months later) and are now hiring someone new.

But hey, that theory is dead, so yeah.

But the guys that made MP3 for PC are looking for an animator? Very interesting.

The fact that it takes far, far to long to reach the same kind of damage IS the complaint. Thanks for confirming the obvious.

People that drive real cars know the handling and damage in IV doesn't cut it close to real life. Going in the opposite direction makes it even less realistic.

The fact that it takes far, far to long to reach the same kind of damage IS the complaint.

WRONG.

Thanks for confirming the obvious.

Confirming the obvious, eh?

You, sir, obviously have reading comprehension problems, because had you properly understood what the complaints that I had been addressing were, then you would see that from the beginning of this discussion I disputed the claim that car damage has changed since IV -- I've demonstrated that they have not.

Car damage has remained the same, the soft body physics have remained the same, it hasn't been changed from IV, that's the complaint I was addressing.

I'll lay it out for you once again since i can tell that you have a hard time grasping certain statements : some people have been asserting that actual car damage is less than it was in IV, and that is what I have been arguing against. You get it now? If not, then don't bother responding.

There is nothing wrong with my reading comprehension, the fact that it takes much longer to reach the same amount of damage is testament to the fact that R* made changes to the way damaging works.

That you CAN reach the same amount of damage in V by trying harder is completely irrelevant to the complaint I and many others are making.

Unbelieveable that you seem to lack that comprehension !

nope, all it takes is simply changing ONE OR TWO VARIABLES in the handling.dat, the one under dd and possibly de columns... so no, technically the way damaging works -which implying on the animation and physics calculation work on the game engine- is not changed, just been made so that it's slower.

That you might change it in handling.dat is irrelevant to the fact that they did ship the game with these settings. Hence why people do complain, and these people do have a valid point.

Any chance of getting the announcement this month, after the AMD driver stuff?

There's still that Brazilian Game Show happening in a few days. Rockstar will attend. We'll see.

Erm, Rockstar are testing GTA V on a PC?

Doesn't prove anything, all games are built on a PC. The fact that it's running on a PC in the studio doesn't mean they're gonna release to PC.

Besides, it might even be just a monitor attached to a console..

Is it me, or do I see a taskbar below there, as well? On the same screen.

Yes, sort of. But you can see a mini-map too, so the guy was obviously moving his character around. I'm still stumped as to how you could test a console game on a PC, when it doesn't have controls assigned for a PC. (I know games are coded on PC but this is different)

And you can see a keyboard below it.

Either way the studio looks awesome.

I don't see any space for an Xbox or PS3 there, lol.

If you look real careful to the bottom left of the screenshot, you can almost make out something similar looking to PS3 :D

I think rhar a console is hooked to the pc and is interacting with the pc sending feedback to the pc so they can analyze that feedback and see what is going on and what is there that is using memory, cpu ang gpu power etc etc etc etc etc.. And all that feedback is shown on the screen on the right side.. From what i see (on my mobile device atm)

It's long been speculated (and Sony even admitted to it once I believe) that Sony and Microsoft developed their very own "emulators" for PC testing purposes. That's most likely what's going on in those screens. You're not necessarily seeing a PC version there, you're just seeing a PS3 or 360 emulator running on their desktops (God I would love to get my hands on one of those).

But of course, we already know that the PC version was developed alongside the console versions...so who really knows, it very well could be.

Anyway, interesting article, I read all four parts. You gotta though love how much the article paints R* as such a fan friendly company. Yet here a large number of their fans sit completely cut out of the loop. Pfft.

There are no PS3 or 360 emulators. You must have the console attached to a PC when debugging.

Lol developers get specials consoles called "developer kits" that have programs that allow the computers the communicate with the ps3/xbox. It's literally a PC version of a console that allows a PC to connect to it  to make games

Yeah my mistake. I got my facts screwed up, there was something awhile back about Sony building their own PSP emulator or something and then they patented a PS2 emulator for the PS3 and that's it. It would be a pretty bone headed idea really. If those existed and one of em ever got leaked XD
