Wow this thread started to become unreadable when the Eurogames news came through, the thread was derailed as hell.

Anyways, as much as I want to take this "news" with a grain of salt, this has been picked up by many different big gaming websites, and it's really uncommon for a website such as them to really put their reputation on the line on just "speculation", especially when it comes to release dates.

I don't think I can remember when there was a false report by a major gaming site when it comes to release dates. Then again there is the possibility that, because of the (almost) 600k petition signatures, Eurogamer just wanted to increase traffic to their site by posting something with a big claim on such an attractive topic. Who knows?

Eurogamer has no real evidence of this, just speculations.

I don't think there will be an announcement until all the bumps have been smoothed out in GTA Online. Once everybody stops talking about GTA Online and all the problems then R* will talking about the PC version since there won't be anything else to talk about. :p

Guys I think It's pretty much about time to forget about 2013 release. I mean you really think that they would just announce "GTAV is coming next month for PC...", nah It won't happen. I'm 99% sure It's coming 2014 March/April or so, anything earlier it just gullible thinking. Anyone who waited for PC version of GTAIV will know that feeling of getting f*cked again, Rockstar never intended to treat us better this time or even in the future, nothing will change.

This post is full of no evidence and all you do is say anyone who thinks otherwise is gullible, quality content right there.

I'm not going to care about GTA V anymore, if Rockstar says something I will be happy, but in the meantime, don't want to watch videos, don't wanna see pictures, even stupid news and rumours, because this just makes me want more to play it, and I can't afford a console at the moment due to being overpriced here in Brazil, incluinding it game price...
It would be an awesome experience play in PC, with awesome graphics and 60FPS etc...
But that >> :r*: << seems to don't give a f*ck to us, so...
I'm not more going to waste my time...:yawn:

Well what kind of evidence do you have that It's coming this year after all? Don't tell me you actually believe a few online retailers are a solid proof. Just open your eyes man, it will get announced in November/December, maybe this month, but a release date? Come on! Edited by DizzeeXL

I'm with you, the most realistic release date now is sometime in 2014. Would be great if it was released in November or December 2013, but right now it seems too close for it to happen. Those articles talking about a release during Q1 2014 are, IMO, much more realistic than any other 2013 rumour. Wish I was wrong, but this is how I see it.

Exactly, it's too close for it to happen. Another thing is usually when Rockstar announces a new game or PC version in particular they never reveal the exact release date. So probable they will drag a couple of months to reveal more details about the PC version like exclusive features, system requirements and so on. They will take some time to advertise the game properly, so more people get to know about It's existence and more pre-order it. I know Bully was announced for PC a month before release but it was already a 2 year old game and not as big as GTA so they rushed the release. Edited by DizzeeXL

Those articles are not credible. It was obvious from a long time ago that a minimum of 6 months is what it would take for C* to cool down their monopoly. The articles are all trash.

Less credible is a November release for me, with such a huge competence from EA (BF4), Activision (CoD) and Ubisoft (WD and AC4).

C* likes competition... that's another reason why they moved the cocksole release date to Saint's Row's period. Haha, but yea. I never really believed that November release date from all those dumb retailers anyway.

It's not coming this year guys. It wouldn't make sense, no matter how hard you guys try to justify it. That's just how Rockstar does things. Why this time should be any different?

Maybe that's when the announcement will come. I mean, 20 more days left of October and no announcement. Why announce the game so close to release? It doesn't make sense.

Most companies announce their games months or a year or two before release, not a few weeks.

Their "industry" sources are most of the retailers who have no idea what they're listing, so there's nothing confirmed yet, and the smartest move would be releasing it this year since it's possible due to how advanced their development seems to be from the build logs.

Indeed that doesn't make any sense (to me at least). Can someone here point out a single tripe A game that was announce like only a month before actual release ?

I still think the game will be release between february and april 2014.

There is always a chance that Rockstar can do this, because it's pretty special times now - next-gen, etc. Maybe Rockstar wants to make "big bada boom" with their unexpected announce of next-gen version of GTA, Plus this time they launched GTA Online. Plus this time, because of next-gen consoles, GTA will be selling faster, that usually. But in general this period of time of big sales will be shorter.

But chances for this are pretty small.

Most likely, everything will be as usual. So far nothing changed in the pattern.

GTA IV

Release date - 29 April 2008

PC announcement - August 6 2008

PC release date - 18/21 November 2008(later delayed to December 2)

L.A. Noire

Release date - 17/20 May 2011

PC announcement - 23 June 2011(they said this fall)

PC release date - 8/11 November 2011

However, you need to remember that GTA is unique game in all senses, so it would be hard to compare GTA V with L.A.Noire. There are still many differences beteen these games, which are reflected in the marketing approaches.

So comparing to GTA IV, you can expect:

Announce - December 24 2013

Release - April 6 2014

Comparing to L.A. Noire, you can expect:

Announcement - 23 October 2013

Release - 8 March 2014

This even better fits Eurogamer's claims about release in early 2014

The Wolf among us was announced to be released today this past monday or tuesday (if you can call that AAA :D); but it was sort of known it would be released in October...

All that aside, it is not surprising if they announce and release it within a month, as the game has enough hype already. A PC announcement would just get an article on all websites saying "Rockstar finally answer the call of PC gamers/ finally answer PC gamers' prayers" or something like that and would leave it. Only certain websites would have a follow up article with screenshots showing the difference in graphics.

Guess I got a bit sidetracked - What I meant to say was AAA games need to obviously generate hype quite a while before releasing; but with a game that is already on sale, a new platform release under short notice wont make that much of a difference.

Show me at least one big gaming site that posted an article about PC release date of GTA V and was referring to its personal sources.

This is the first and only.

Big gaming site such as Eurogamer will not claim something like that if they don't have real basis for that. Because if they lied they can loose much more than they'll win with those false claims.

Nobody needs it. They posted that article because they have solid basis for their claims. that was able to convince Eurogamer's management that it's worth it. You can see it even in tthis article. They talk about everything pretty firmly and confidently.

1. Yes, TWAU is a AAA

2. Cockstar has always released their flagship monopoly franchise on PC after having announced it a long time back.

Sure, you make a good point, but Eurogamer is now quoted all over the place now, increasing their traffic in multiple folds. This could've even been a marketing strategy, you know, to edge out the competition...

ATTENTION:

I have some discouraging news to share, guys. Discouraging, but not confirmation of anything just yet. So takes this as you will and with a grain of salt.

--------------------------------------------------

I just received a response from somebody, who I will refrain mentioning by name (I'll let you guys figure out who), who says that while his sources were very much correct initially on the November date, it now appears that Cockstar has done the thing we were all fearing they'd do; they have possibly changed their game plan for the PC release.

Now again, this isn't 100% confirmed yet, and he did seem to be influenced by the what the recent Eurogamer article said (like most of the masses lately lol), but he confirmed that his sources are very trustworthy because they received this information directly from some C* devs.

So now, there's is a real possibility that C* has decided to delay the PC release, which was indeed planned for a Fall/November release originally. This means that all of the online retailer store leaks pointing to the November dates we saw, as well as the NVIDIA Fall release statement, and the rest of the evidence and information that was collected in these past weeks, were all correct. Again, a Fall release WAS the original planned release window.

Now we still don't know yet how things will turn out -- because knowing how C* is, they may very well change their minds yet again -- but considering the way C* has been refusing to give up any information currently, it definitely appears that a delay has occured. If all this pans out, it looks like we might be seeing it very early in 2014, not April, and definitely not May or June, but sometime around January or February, as strange as those months may sound for a release.

Don't ask me why C* thinks this is a good idea. Maybe they don't have control over this, I don't know. I'm just as mind boggled as some of you will be upon reading this. I have my own suspicions on what might have caused the change in plans. I personally think those assholes from Take-Two may be responsible for calling the shot, as they are notorious for delaying releases by months, if not years sometimes and for no apparent reason at all. Just look up how long Max Payne 3 was delayed because of them.

On the other hand, this company (Rockstar) is literally lying to every PC gamer in their face right now. They continue to insult the intelligence of their customers by issuing retarded statements like "we have no information to share about the "possibility" of a PC version", and we know this to be an outright lie because there is irrefutable evidence that not only demonstrates they've long since had plans for a PC version, but also that the PC version has been developed for a long time now as well. The sad part about it is that the vast majority of PC gamers will never even know about this. And they'll continue to think it was just traditional GTA PC wait time as usual.

Anyway, I must say this was extremely disappointing news for me to hear about. I've personally decided I'm going to finish the game on PS3, sell it, and then forget about it all together. The early months of 2014 are still a good 4 or 5 months away, and considering the initial release plan was for November, such a wait is not only unacceptable, but also uncalled for and unwarranted. The PC version of this game IS not a port from the consoles, and the several months delay time period will not be used for any such "porting", which was the justifiable reason behind the long wait times for previous PC GTA's. So what excuse will they come up with to explain this? I don't know, and really I don't care. At this point, they've lost all respect from me.

I'm no longer willing to support a company who partakes in shady business practices that f*ck over an entire community of gamers while lying to our faces. I simply won't. I'll be getting it for PC once it's on a steam sale for like 10 bucks.

f*ck Cockstar, their greedy publishers, and anybody else who gets offended by what I just said.

I sincerely hope they change their mind and it's released before this year is over in December and that I can look back at this post and laugh. Sadly, I don't think this will happen.
