PC Version of GTA V Discussion

@Killerdude8 that's bullsh*t! IV is outdated for console, check V...

And How can I compare that to PC?

IV is the perfect example it has a Console and a PC release.

So by your logic when V comes to PC, all the console pirated versions will disappear? The console pirated version of V had 3000 seeds even before the game was released. The pirated version for PC for GTA IV has a total 2000 after 5 years. It shows that console piracy is slowly growing and that PC piracy is decreasing slowly because of steam. Take a look at the recent games like The Last of Us, it's a perfect example that piracy is growing on consoles.

GTA IV is a five year old-game. Did you see the pirated version of Saints Row 4 for consoles? And compare them to the legit steam downloads?

And i'd like to add there It is becoming easier to JailBreak a ps3 nowadays... I had a jailbroken ps3 at a stage and it was easy to do... Google teaches you everything! And i sold my PS3 and got a PC and ill never go back

Guys, don't get mad at R*, there are many reasons why PC port is delayed:

- Console sales are higher than PC sales.

- Piracy on PC is huge and often takes a hit on PC sales... and on Console sales as well (a guy with a Gaming PC and a PS3 could choose to Pirate the game for PC instead of buying it for PS3).

- PC needs more optimization: the hardware/software configuration is very varied and very standardized like on a console.

So they often release the game on PC much later to cash-in a few extra bucks. They don't announce it to prevent multi-platform gamers (PC + console) to speculate on a PC version to pirate.

Fortunately, with the increased use of online features and with Steam, PC market is expanding and becoming much more viable.

Forgot that piracy thing for f*ck sake already. On the 17th Sept. the first thing that apperaed on torrent sites was GTA V fartbox version. Piracy rate is almost the same on pc and console. So this cant be a reason. The reason PC version is always delayed is purely business. PC version is nearly done or maybe fully done. R* just holds it back. Because they can hold it. (which is a very stupid move, imo.)

Maybe GTAO optimization problems can be a factor that affects the release, but not that much.

P.S.: I cant believe there are still people who believes that its a port..

Almost the same? Where did you get those numbers? Piracy on consoles is much less accessible than on PC. For starter, you need to MOD you console to pirate a game. That just puts many people off, on PC you don't need to modify anything in your hardware or core software.

Secondly, you can download a game in less than a night, install it and play it on the PC. On a console, you have to burn it under certain conditions, or find a Hard Drive you can format (depends on the console and the type of hack you've done on it). Not to mention that modded consoles have issues when it comes things like updating the console's software, or being ban online, or some cases, bricking the damn thing.

So NO, it's not the same f***ing thing. Piracy on PC is a major factor, wether you like it or not.

Please note, that I'm not saying it's the only reason, but it IS a reason.

Another, sorry for my insult, moron, comes around here, reads a top comment and that's it. One thing, which was already mentioned here, used games sales, used games sales, used games sales, that's not piracy? Because the publisher gets no $$$ from that, and oh man console market is booming with used games sales, from little adverts in special groups on facebook and alikes, to giants like eBay, from small high street stores, to big game retail companies, USED GAMES SALES.

PC piracy might be bigger in numbers on torrent websites, but surely is not bigger overall, also talking about Steam, Origin places were you can buy a PC game relatively cheap, also the sales from time to time where prices drop ReLow. So seemingly the only reason why PC releases are done later, is a little payout from MS, and Sony to Rockstar games, for exclusivity, that and the much, much higher number of people who own a console as a primary gaming device.

I think we agree, but not on one point. Which is the used game sales, I am one of those guys that like the option for it because it's good for customers. But with used games, the developers and such don't make any money. So this makes it sort of the same as with pirates where they also don't get any money from it.

Guys please stop about the Console wars... WTF! cant we just get along? Each platform has its uses, Ups and Downs (etc) PC has better graphics and can multi-task. A console is mobile and can be taken anyway easily and its a cheap form of a PC. That's all there is to it... There's no such thing as a master race... Yes I'm a pc owner but because I like the premium things in life i have a PC and I'm a better PC player ( I suck with a controller btw :p) And please console people stop teasing us that we don't have the game its killing us already that we don't have it you don't have to push it further. And not all PC people are bad and arrogant snobs. I love Sony (Huge PS3 Fan  ) Let's just get back to convincing ourselves and keeping our hopes up for this great game to come to our platform... :r*:

That quote applies to MP3, on that game they indeed closed the gap in release date. Nowhere does it say that this would also be the case for any future games.

You do know that both Max Payne 1 and Max Payne 2 were first released on PC and months later on consoles. So what gap are they really talking about? Dude, they are talking in a general sense. Not for a specific game.

Yes I do know, I have all three MP's. Not sure why this is at all relevant. The guy said they (ROCKSTAR) closed the release date gap with MP3, so they must have been referring to games released by Rockstar before MP3 obviously. My point is that statement does not at all make a promise that this closing of release date gap would be for future games. It is an aknowledgment of the fact they closed it with MP3 and nothing more. Obviously with GTAV that release gap is widening again.

They are very bad, you just have to order them the right way + not everyone seeds.

Also why the Fuc- do you have piratebay on your fav sites? Something smelly over here...

Smelly? What is smelly about it? There is a lot of legal stuff there. Do you use Google? Seems something fishy there... OMFG.

But anyway, I also download full games, movies, albums, etc. Then I buy it if I like it. You don't like it? Then don't use it. Also I bought Bioshock 1 on Steam and sh*t doesn't work on Win7. Cracked version works great. So yeah...

You are not reading whole sentence!

"We’ve closed the gap between console and PC release dates, which is something the community had been wanting us to do for a long time, and the PC version has been tested on a huge range of hardware."

They want smaller gap for any future games. And DX11 (PC) info from PS3 version is a proof. They want it, but can they? That is a different story.

newswire update - Grand Theft Auto Online: Half a Million GTA$ Stimulus Package this Month

http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/51565/grand-theft-auto-online-half-a-million-gta-stimulus-package-this.html/#comments

This is the downfall of gaming industry. Imagine a new GTA, they make it free to play but most of the things are locked if you don't buy them. I miss old times :/.

locked if you don't but them eh? Can you name one thing that I as a free player can not obtain that a paying player can? I will tell you now I also am playing on console for the time being when I feel the urge to play GTA.

If you actually read the article (I know it's hard to open the link and read it....) you would know what that said. They are giving everyone who played in october 2 payments of 250k for all the trouble that has happened (deleted characters, players losing some progress, etc.).

But I guess them giving us some kind of "thank you for helping us test the game" is them locking us out of anything unless we pay for it.

Oh, and so far all the content they have talked about will be 100% free if you own GTAV.

Still not seeing where you are getting this dumbass idea of GTAO will be like Guild Wars was in the beginning where you bought the game and got chapter 1 free and had to buy the other ones. No, they have said that they want the core of the game to remain free, and haven't even touched on releasing any clothing or guns or cars that are specific to paying cash for.

And wtf is smelly about having TPB on your quick links? Lol, there is more to get off TPB than games.... sh*t to get FCOM for Oblivion it required a torrent because it was that big.

I did read the whole sentence, they stated they closed the gap, which is something the community wanted them to do for a long time. They do however not claim that they plan to close the gap even further, or even that they plan on leaving the gap as it is for future games. Unless they did claim this elsewhere. They do not claim it in this statement. Quite surprised how you can possibly read this from the sentence you quoted.

The fact currently is, that the gap between the release of the console version is already greater than the gap for MP3, which was 15 days after console release, V is already out for consoles for over three weeks.

So I just read the latest newswire post and here are my thoughts.

Next week Rockstar will release another update/fix for GTAO that should fix all or most of the current issues. If it so happens that Online runs smooth or at the very least as close to 'smooth' as they can get. Then perhaps they will be able to focus on other stuff like 'announcing a pc version'.

Guys chillout, this is about PC and GTA V, whatever applies to consoles doesn't belong here, there is no 100% accurate information about this, so is more of an opinion then anything. With piracy or not the PC Market worths 20 billion a year and keeps growing, Steam have almost as much users as each of the current consoles and grows everyday and there are also the retail copies, so cut off the piracy crap talk it looks like consoles users only know that argument or use it as a shield against PC's over consoles, well that and the cost, which is also BS if you know what to buy and how. Also you can't compare numbers of torrents of console version alongside with PC, taking into account the console version is out for longer time and after the PC version is out there isn't much point of sharing it, the console version life was a lot shorter and lost interest fast. So end this annoying shtload talk because it won't get us anywhere and doesn't mean anything to our goal.
__________

As for the "Gap closure" Rockstar was talking about MP3 obviously but when they said it was closing the gap was about every game they released before, doesn't make sense that they mention closing the gap as something PC users wanted for MP3, because it was their first game of the franchise. So what PC players want as closing the gap is getting the game not long after consoles like happened with GTA IV, where we had to wait more then half a year. And with the knowledge they got with Max Payne 3 that is possible and should have been their plan, but things can change and Rockstar is known for their delays, so we can't do much other then wait, the odds are good but not rock solid. They can say that it will be out next month, next Spring or next year Christmas, we don't know what happens behind doors. Imagine NVIDIA deciding "Hey Rockstar our new GPU's will be out next year only, so if the game comes out soon they'll go for the brand new AMD GPU's, here's a check for you to keep the game till our hardware is out". Something like this can happen.
___________

So let's keep hunting down info and use it to speculate possible scenarios, but in the end of it we are conscious of two thing. One is that unless Rockstar decides to cancel it, PC version exists and we won't see another RDR stunt the other is Rockstar have the last word so all the decisions depend on them and them only.

No. So stop with the piracy bullsh*t it's just the same on consoles

I, as a fan of flame was, have to say that current gen consys are worse in pref/price ratio. Also its easier to move PC than P$3 or M$ Xbox if you choose the right version of PC (they can be as big as a cup)

Cheap attempt to pour dirt on the PS4. Of course, everything is exxagerated and no one tried to learn details in order to determine whether it's really so bad. So stupid.

I studied in Russian university, and Russia has such thing as "practice curses". In summer, you can find a job related to your specialty, or university can find you such a job.

Very often, no one (companies) needs noobie student, so actually they are making you a favour giving you a chance to work for them during several weeks. And mostly you are working for free or for a small fee. After that you need to write practice report. It's a part of educational system.

Of course, in this concrete case with Foxconn, officials clearly used those "practice courses" for personal benefits, and this is not really connected to educational goals. But it's exaggerated a lot. Now all yellow press almost compares them to slaves

Stop about the piracy crap!! Nobody cares about piracy.. The only thing that matters are sales.. Sales have been rising on PC so fast in the past years.. Many people even download a pirated game and like it so much they actually buy it.. Others try the game and performance of it on their machine.. Some canr afford the game anyway and devs care more about people playing the game than selling it.. Some just pirate because they can.. I alone downloaded a pirate copy of GTAIV at least 10 times and i own a copy.. I just dont want to deal with the drm and scratching my disc (you need a play dics in while playing wtf?)..

Tldr: piracy doesnt matter sales do and sales are rising...

Wargaming.net has over 60 million registered users alone, thing about PC is that it's broad. Consolers brag about selling 20 million copies, well congrats but PC genres combined outsell even the biggest console games.

I use steam for IV.

But agree, piracy doesnt matter as much to make us look as bad as the "consy guys"...

So yeah...

@platinum2

Read my post again. And yes I know gap is already 3weeks and counting, but you didn't read my post. At least not entirely. Especially that one which says they want it, as they wanted with MP3 but can they?

Note "CAN THEY?": Console exclusives for some months (sony, ms payed them?), they are fixing bugs, etc. etc.

Sorry. you are right, they might want to close the gap (or leave it as it was with MP3). The question can they is already answered in a way, but why exactly is the answer we don't know. I doubt it is because they were paid by MS or Sony though.
