PC Version of GTA V Discussion

I was able to run Max Payne 3 maxed out 1440x900 with this config:

ASUS M3N78
2x2GB Kingston DDR2-800
GTX 285 2GB 512bit
AMD Phenom II X4 965BE

 

So I hope it will run GTA V too...

 

But im planning to upgrade to:

ASUS M5A97 EVO R2.0
8 GB DDR3-1600
GTX 660 2GB (maybe 660ti, but i dont see the difference between 660 and 660TI honestly)
AMD FX-8350

 

That would be a good config to run GTA V and maybe WD, wouldn't it?

You should get a 670. 670 have 256-bit memory interface, 660ti have 192-bit. There's a considerably performance boost with an 670.

 

Better yet, go for an 7xx series. They perform better than 6xx, and they are much more efficient when talking about power management.

A GTX 760 gives the performance of a 670. The only difference is the amount of CUDA cores. It has less than the 670 and 660 Ti, but the memory bus makes it a lot faster than the 660 Ti and is perfectly suited for 1080p gaming. So pretty much for under $300, you get a GTX 670.

Yeah.. maybe next year when i can get the 670 for the 660 price. Unfortunately im not a millionaire, and the 7xx series are f*cking expensive. At least in my country (Hungary) computer parts are expensive ass hell.

Good choice. Close to the PC that I bought 1 month ago. The difference is that I bought 32 GB of RAM and motherboard ASUS M5A99 FX Pro R 2.0

 

You can buy both GTX 660 and GTX 660 Ti. They both have good quality/price ratio

 

The difference in performance between them - about 10%. The difference in price is about the same

 

Also, Nvidia just released GTX 760, which is direct replacement for GTX 660 Ti. This card is a bit more expensive, but at the same it has a bit better performance. GTX 760 also has good quality/price ratio. So you can buy any of them. The more you'll pay, the better performance you'll get

Yeah, here in Brazil these things are expensive too. Last year I spent some money to build my PC and I don't plan to upgrade it for a while now.

And even a 4xx series should be enough to run GTA V at "medium settings"

Right, but I did find mention of Rockstar North along with various time-stamps with BST next to them (British Standard Time) and sometimes in the same log reports that mentioned the PC build. In the past, it was solely Rockstar Leeds who handled PC development, but I think Rockstar may have gave a helping hand this time based on the change log. After all, they were developing for three different platforms at the same time with GTA V.

It may sound like a buzzkill to you all, but seeing how R* got their hands full with fixing up GTA V and GTA V Online, I think the PC version is not as close as we thought... They won't make any big announcements untill most of the console version's problems are resolved, especially with the Online section...
