You know what? I might just buy it. Why not? They had it up there on Gameseek for some time, It's not going down. And if it does end up going down, I'm not taking a refund.

Because f*ck the police. I need to make myself believe.

I'm pathetic, I know.

Of course IF the pc version is still in active development (something we cannot tell for sure)

Meh.....all the evidence you need to know is here. Argue against this if you want.

https://googledrive.com/host/0B-JdId1SslCJNEIweDFobGl2MzA/builds.xml

Last mention was a short bug report from back in July. PC version was encountering "late issues" way back in late 2012.

Currently does not equal July 2013, what I said still stands. Note that Rockstar, the actual developer isn't commenting on the pc version at all. I understand the whish for a pc version is clouding your judgement, but you can't have it both ways.

No. You've missed the point entirely. July of 2013 was the last mention in the change log before the console builds went gold. That was over two months ago, and that's the point. Surely development on whatever was left continued as we have no reason to believe that it ceased from that point on, or at least nothing in the log file indicates a delay or desist in the development

The error reports for the PC at the time (July 2013) seemed relatively minor and insignificant and certainly didn't appear to indicate anything major that could potentially hinder or prolong the development cycle.

Additionally, there is 250+ PC log mentions which demonstrate the PC build was just as far a long into the dev cycle as the console builds were. Mentions describing multiplayer issues on the PC build simultaneously with the 360/PS3 builds as far back as late 2012 stand as a testament to this.

Furthermore, we have the iFruit and Social Club app files which contain various PC assets. The inclusion of these only makes sense if the PC build is finished, since these are rather small, end of the line parts of the dev cycle.

Thorough and proper analysis from the change logs/other files as well as common sense dictates that the PC build is already finished, or nearly finished.

Rockstar hasn't acknowledged a pc version is in development, nor has it announced a release date.

Rockstar doesn't need to formally acknowledge the existence of a PC version for us to know of its existence, for we already have irrefutable and concrete evidence in the change log files to know that it is/was very much so in development.

You are in no position to asses the state of development for the pc version based on the build log. Yes it does exist based on this log, but since Rockstar isn't aknowledging this build publicly, and since it has not announced a release date, what we have is razor thin. Fact is that the pc version isn't available for retail and has not yet been announced, and when Rockstar does announce this version and what exactly the release date is we don't know. All we can do is speculate.

worst case scenario, the pc version is buggy as hell and FUBAR so that R* and Take2 decided not to release it because of the bugs and performance.

Lol wut........

It's speculation, sure, but it's good speculation based upon strong evidence. Not mindless, 'I pulled this information out of my ass', speculation. Have you gone through the ENTIRE build log? You really should. It's quite lengthy, but It puts anybody who bothers to actually analyze it a giant step above someone who hasn't in terms of what they can know about the PC build of the game.

Actually I don't need to go through that build log, as all that matters to me is the ability to purchase the PC version, something I cannot do at this very moment. That's all I need to know.

Portions of that build log have been posted on here repeatedly, still despite this build log, Rockstar gives us the " no comment" line each and every time. Until they actually state a release date, I don't care about build logs, retailers listing released dates and other stuff like it. I care for Rockstar announcing a date on which I can buy the game, I don't need anything more.

Thanks. Found them.

Could it be that some of those are actually loading screen artworks for the PC version, maybe? Because GTA IV on Consoles and GTA IV on PC had completely different loading art, if I remember correctly.

EDIT: For anyone wanting to see them right here;

O_O hmmmm, does anyone know if the GTA:SA had different loading screens with variance of console or PC?

Those pics also could be for the xbone or ps4 versions, ("would they have different loading screens or artwork for the different gen?")

Help is needed.

Maybe, but if the log information is anything to go by, then that's probably unlikely.

For example, these were just a few of the developmental issues the PS3 version was facing midway through July of 2013, approximately two months before the game went gold/ master was submitted to manufactures for pressing.

ps3iss10.png

ps3_is10.png

By contrast, here are some of the development issues facing the PC version during the same month and week.

pc_onl10.png

And fast forwarding a bit, here is what things looked like a few days before the PS3/360 final builds were submitted to the masters in August. The first screen mentions this is the "final submission base grab". The remainder of the issues we see were isolated to GTAO, which work is constantly ongoing for.

PC still has "no x64 build prebuild support" at the time, but nearly two months have passed since, and the majority of the PC build, as indicated by the logs, appears to be fully intact, functional, and in working order at the time with perhaps some late, fairly simple issues to overcome.

As you can see, MUCH can be gleaned from this log if one takes the time to properly analyze it. Remember, as of the present, TWO months have elapsed since the last mention of the PC build in the logs. It's not unreasonable to think that any issues facing the PC from July as described in the logs, would have been worked out by now, as we can see the PS3 version was facing similar, or perhaps even more complex issues with just less than two months before it went to the masters.

The devs at Rockstar North appear to have an impeccable work ethic and knack for resolving issues rather quickly. This is speculative, but if the majority of the important issues facing the PC have been resolved by now -- which is highly possible considering the devs abilities to overcome problems in a short time -- then the build may be getting prepared to be submitted for the masters as we speak -- in preparedness for a late November release.

This is, of course, IF November is actually the month they plan to release it. They may still be ironing out the smaller issues and if such is the case, it might have us seeing a release in the final days of November or early days of December. Again, it's speculation, but speculation based on good evidence.

Here is the final two reports in the log:

^ you are assuming this build log paints the whole picture, but unless you know exactly how Rockstar's development and QA processes are handled, you cannot possibly make that assumption. Therefore stating that the PC version is finished or nearly finished based on this build log isn't something I am willing to believe.

These things take time, man. There are several measures that need to be taken before a game can be announced. They can't simply blurt out "yeah, the PC version is coming" just because the fans want them too. They have to deem the time appropriate. Taking into consideration things like possible late bugs, and the submitting of a final build to the masters disc. The later usual takes a matter of days.

So If you don't want to go through the log for yourself, fine, but don't try to belittle the information people have gathered from this log either. Read my last post, I give a few reasons and indicators of why the PC version may already be finished at this stage, or on route to completion. If what the evidence seems to be pointing at is true, then you should have GTA V on your PC in no time at all, so long as Rockstar doesn't suddenly change something.

As an owner of the console version, I can confirm that the third, fourth, fifth and sixth ones are completely NEW and not featured in the console version. The first two, and the last ones ARE some of the loading screens I always see on the PS3 version. These are most definitely loading screens.

Edit: Where did these come from?

But it DOES "paint the whole picture". From the very beginning of development cycle, up until the final submission to the masters disc.

The only speculation involved here is regarding the progress of the PC build in the last two months after the the console versions went gold. We can't know the precisely where the PC build is at this point, BUT we can make reasonable inferences based on the information that was left to us, which is ample and informative.

You act like all of this is incredibly fragmented and disjointed when it's clearly not. The log is structured categorically, progressively and is highly orderly. We have explict dates and information and even exact time stamps that detail precise events in the dev cycle.

Again, this is the entire developer log, from start to finish. From the start of the whole project at the start of April 2009, to the completion of the project (on consoles) on August 11 of 2013.

But it really doesn't matter, feel free to believe what you want. I don't care.

You have no way of knowing it does. As said, unless you know exactly how the development and QA processes work at R* you cannot possibly make that statement. Surely R* has a bit more than just this build log to record and process bug reports, developer assignments, code regression etc.

All you can do is assume it is nearly finshed, but there is no proof in all of those. Again unless Rockstar says it is finished and ready for release, all of this is speculation. Highly entertaining for sure, but no assurance that a pc version will be on sale, and exactly when.

They are discussing the current issue at hand, one party of this argument refuses to read the build logs and actually see that they mention the PC version of the game multiple times, remember this is just one build log, from a specific time frame, for all we know, the PC version's big bugs could have been fixed back in 2011? whe just dont know

personally i prefer the constant updates, it keeps this thread from going dead

yes that last sentance just happened.

There are many more evidences, apart from the log files, which corroborate this, but I won't bother bringing them up since you strike me as the type who doesn't even care about this type of anyway. Should that interest spark, just use the search bar for this thread. Pretty much everything related to this has been covered already. Peace.

I have read this thread, so I know about all the evidence. My point is really really simple, The only evidence that is relevant is Rockstar announcing a release date, all else is irrelevant.

@acek, reporting based on what excactly ? This whole thread is a classic example of writing the same stuff over and over again. And to the best of my knowledge there is no rule against it either way.
