That bug thing is really nice indeed.

For announcment I bet on 8th of october and for release on 22nd of november :D

For my IV trouble Im not sure if it was 30fps during the tapping part cuz I was smashing too hard to watch but before during the shooting it was 30 (maxed) but and it felt laggier than at chopper (or I just got used to it since before that I was on 75 fps custom settings).

Right now its 21:37 and I dont fell fresh enough to kill loads of guys and smash my hand of :) Ill try tomorrow

Hum ok, since the first GTA trailer back in November 2011 based on what Rockstar Toronto said in 2008 in these forums that the game wouldn't be a port, later when the first screens were released, specially the one from IGN with Trevor and the exploding house I said once again that confirmed the game would support DX11. No one believed and there was an insane flame war in the forums specially coming from console players, the same happened in a few websites that posted my comments and my thread about the PC version (ie. Society and Religion) everyone doubted and flamed but after all I was right, as I was when I said the PC version was being developed side by side with consoles and it was confirmed later by an ex-Rockstar employee in these forums task that got him a perma ban.

So it seems that I've not been far from the truth till now and I understand the "mind" of Rockstar, so let me tell you what I'm thinking now and based on what I've seen in the last weeks. And since Brian is the deep technical approach I'll keep my social and logical interpretation.

So a few weeks back a few websites started to change their release date to the November-December time frame, few days later we get more detailed leaks confirming code lines related to PC, DX11 and Next gen consoles, this starts to spread and we read about it everywhere, Rockstar takes action and starts to demand for that information to be deleted or locked, after that we get an article of Rockstar saying "We can't develop 3 games at the same time", although we know this is not true because 1 - They did it with Max Payne III and 2 - we have facts that prove the PC version is being in the works since early 2012, after all this we now get a lot of stores changing their release date "again" to Spring 2014.

Now I have 2 possible interpretations for this:

1 - This is all a smoke screen because of all the leaks and if this actually confirms the PC version it also confirms the Next Gen version (either for now or closer in the future) and the idea that the PC version is abut to be released and till the online launch they don't want that out.

2 - For some reason they changed the release date for a late date, either because they got some problems in the development or because of financial strategy, which means extra milking from consoles with DLC's or items for the online. Although honestly speaking I think if Rockstar makes the mistake of releasing the game later next year they won't earn as much as if it was released now. Next year is already in the line of "Next Gen", with many new games coming, some new IP's and all of them with Next gen feel. Games like The Witcher 3, The Division (strong online component) without mentioning Watch Dogs and others. They might be not as good as the open world experience of V, but if people buy one before they might not be able to buy GTA V when it comes out, or they'll be entertained with something else.
This is not linear but the market isn't either, it all depends on how things go, but after their speech about the approach they got with Max Payne 3, would be hard for people to understand why they went back for greedy reasons. It's a known facts that around here people love to "kiss Rockstar's ass", but we already saw a few name calling just because of the idea of milking online mode like EA.

So at this point and knowing how Rockstar operates and If they intend to release the game in 2013, I'd expect the announcement to be 3 or 8 of October, which are after the online mode launch and I doubt they'll announce the PC version in the same day, although it could happen and they are the Tuesday and Thursday before the V Japanese launch.

Just be careful. I did that a few times and they actually banned me from making comments :p. Well to be fair it was like the 10th time I posted something like that.

Has anyone seen this? What could 'Systrayrfs" be?

Probably development tools. Notice they have a development wiki on their dev network aswell ;) devstar.rockstargames.com/wiki (Does not work)

I bet if we could get in there, we would find a possible release date. We might even be able to find a build. LOL unfortunately we aren't hackers or anything. (Also implying that we are is probably against some rule somewhere.)

It's probably just for their own network access :p But it's quite interesting a wiki for R*'s development progress.

But its funny.

Well... it's obvious they share the same network with every studio, for development purposes... You can even see references to "North's network" in the bug list.

Can i ask you guys a question? After the GTA IV released for the consoles, when it was announced for the PC?

GTA IV was released for consoles on April 29th 2008. It was announced for PC on August 6th, so a bit over three months after the initial release, for a release on November 18th in North America respectively November 21th in other areas. The PC version finally launched on December 2nd and 3rd, 2008.

This thread scares me a little. We've done 40 pages in little more than a day!

40 more pages at the beginning of October, I'm hoping that R * announce before the 10th but not the release of GTA online, do not know why, as always I am wrong in my assumptions maybe they advertise on Day 1

nice job with finding Michael Bush hhaaha.. the power of the internet :) maybe somebody could find his phone number and ask him about GTAV :p
that is also another confirmation that the xml is legit..

Also its hard to make assumptions based on the ol d dates since the game it seems was not developed for the PC the same way the older ones were..

I would also like to see the devstar wiki :D who knows what they have in there.. well maybe one day I will work for R* and know whats happening in there :p

Heh

I sit at home and stare at my xbox and gta v and think about playing in 1080p and at 60 fps. Lol, I just can't even play single player on the consoles, it's so immersion breaking when everything is changing from low res to meh res as it enters this really short area around you. Street lines being ridiculously blurry, frames dipping below 30.

I can deal with meh frames when an ENB is running, but this sh*t is just soooo hard. It's comparable to apbs lag when you compare it to another games lag. sh*t is just unplayable for me, online won't be so bad, as I won't be going to that immersion feel and won't be trying to get absorbed into the world. Be too busy shooting people and sh*t lol.

Meh... f*ck current consoles lol.

Can't wait for angry ameoba to convert his bank account mod to V for SP. Rockstar kind of ruined free roam as dieing now has massive penalties and you feel like you can't f*ck around. I wish we could deposit money in SP, not sure why they felt the need to punish players for messing around :(
