PC Version of GTA V Discussion

I'm also confused, what exactly is gta online? will it set on gta v world or what? and if it indeed set on gta v world then how will the gta v - less pc players will be able to play? unless they delay it on pc too, or it's actually a separate game with separate files so pc users will have to 'acquire' a 'new game' too regardless of gta v on pc status.

all those bug reports don't sound encouraging lol, way too many worrying pc related bugs and abysmal performance

have you looked that file at all? there aren't many pc only bugs... Edited by LUK4

I just wonder what is the reason behind the delay of PC version. I mean, they've made 1 bln in three days and it was to be expected. So if the money isn't the case, what's it?

The high income in the first few days were not really expected. The game was obviously expected to be highly successful, but not to the extent it turned out to be. Take-Two expected 1.2 billion dollars from Rockstar until the end of the fiscal year on March 31st 2014. The 1.2 billion dollars are for GTAV and catalog titles, such as Max Payne 3, GTA IV, San Andreas, et cetera. However, V made 1 billion dollar already in THREE DAYS, but it was expected to take around half a year.

I don't think the reason for the constant delays is the money. And the fact that many customers purchase GTA more than once is not necessarily the only reason, either. Just see the way past GTAs were developed. They were all ported from the lead-platform, usually from the console version, to PC, and that from a seperate studio. GTA is developed by Rockstar North for consoles, and another studio is doing the port. We have seen a mass of references to PC in the console files of GTAV, which most likely is because the game is not a port on any platform. It's developed seperatly. We do know that this is the case with the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. And it's very likely the case with the PC version, although not confirmed yet by Rockstar. There is still a delay, though, as you know. I presume the reason for it is that it's still not done by the North studio, but Rockstar Toronto or Rockstar Leeds. That is just speculation now, but if that is the case, then I would say it explains a lot.

Just to make our wait a little bit more brighter and easier. That's what people are able to achieve with IV on our platform and I wonder what we'll see when V arrives.
I post this in case someone haven't seen this yet. This footage really proves the fact modding is a really powerful thing, especially if we have such good open world games as GTA. Enjoy :^:

the potential of V being graphically modded is so great that i think we cant even imagine/comprehend how incredible it is going to be.

It seems PC version of GTA V is still a port.

Actually there's no evidence that it will be a port. Only that Rockstar started developing PC version long time ago.

First, if the BugTracker thingy is legit, that's basically the evidence that it's a port. They got the engine running on PC last year, and till now they have been fixing the bugs.

Second, porting stuff isn't a bad thing, if it's done right.

April 2014? f*ck them and f*ck them again. I guess I'll have to give a try to Watch Dogs, even if I don't trust Ubisoft anymore...

I hope car mods work in multiplayer, like in SAMP. That would be actually mind-blowing.

if it's 2014? hell naw! i'll be playing watch dogs and the division.

Lol Division is getting a release date at the end of 2014, so yeah Watch Dogs and AC Black Flag sounds about right though ;p

So much this. I'll be playing Watch Dogs and ACIV. Let's hope they releases this PC version before then.

As much as I think that spoilers don't spoil anything, a late release will not be attractive for PC players, even for GTA fans.

unfortunately/fortunately this time around the whole online gameplay concept is fundamentally different than what we had in IV so im not sure GTA online will be moddable at all.

This probably means nothing but I give it a try.

Does anyone who owns a console has some sort of high FX Visuals when driving offroad?

In GTA SA when you put FX Visuals on Low, you won't get very big dust when driving on offroads.

When set on High, you'll get really big and lots of dust.

In the first GTAV trailer a car drove offroad and the dust is way too big. I don't know if it's the same

on console. Maybe someone can check it out?

It's this image:

If the console doesn't have that FX Visuals, pretty sure it was on PC first?

You can't really use the first trailer as proof because it was pre-rendered, not in-game footage as far as I know.

You have never seen pre-rendered then.

@@SilverRST; The debut trailer was definitely captured from the console version, but it was an early build of the game. Making comparisons between the first trailer and the final game when it comes to the graphics and particle effects is kind of pointless at this point.

If not pre-rendered then it is atleast running on a PC or seriously beefed up dev-kit, because the quality in the trailer is much better than the game looks on console. Fact is, you can't use trailers for reference, they use all sorts of tricks to make them look better than they are supposed to look.

When you say an early build of the game, you're refreing to the build with higher assets. Which in other words mean what is expected to be in a PC. Basically what they've done was lower the way those assets were processed to make it look less sharp, identical to what you can do with IV, you can make it look exactly like consoles or even worst. Which means they had a high assets version and they had to tweak it around to make it run properly on consoles. Instead of what IV was where they had a lower assets version (consoles) and then they had to apply better textures, filters and models to create the PC version.

I use this example many times, it's like when you enlarge or resize an image on photoshop, you have a lower quality and you increase it and it is bigger but looks ugly, less detailed and full of jaggies, but when you grab a big picture and you make it smaller it will decrease in terms of size in the HDD so it will be faster to process/ open but it will keep sharp and very detailed.

This is how I see GTA development. With IV it was a small image that was increased making it look ugly in comparison (Console assets to PC), with V it was a big image resized to a smaller one (PC assets to console).

Probobly that was the reason why you saw the treailers losing quality and there was a delay, they had to wash out textures or remove assets and details to achieve a better performance.
