So guys whats your opinion about this:

Taking into consideration all the evidence weve got, R* launches Online on the 1st of Oct, then removes bugs, announce PC around the 10th of Oct and maybe we got our copy on the end of Oct, or Nov?

Seems reasonable for me.

They are probably too busy with finishing up the PC build and getting the SC ready for GTAO and all this traffic its been getting.

But the mods there are responding. ;)

Last one was an hour or so ago. They just completely avoid any messages about the PC version not even replying with the "focused on consoles right now" line. Rockstar are going into hiding about it and you know why that is. :D

It's super super optimistic to think that, but it's not seeming impossible to me. I don't think it's the most-likely thing, seems early, but it is definitely shown to be possible with all we found and the details from news and retailers and such over the months, i think it's safe to hope for it, and it won't be disappointing unless we "expect" instead of "hope for it". So maybe and hopeful is the way for it coming this early. :p

Most likely, Rockstar will need to have 2 months between announcement and release. Maybe they will change their plans this time.

Overall, all this is just big endless speculations.

f*cking two years and all the same speculations

I am just too optimistic then. :) But the point is, they need to release it this year. It would be a perfect Christmas present for the PC community.

There is a sh*tload you can do in GTAV but not in Watch_Piss.

All about hacking and shooting. What is so fun about it? The only good thing about is is the high-end graphics

but high-end graphics doesn't make the game a game. In my opinion GTAV looks very beautiful!

Greatest weathers and sunrise/sunset I have seen in a game.

It really would be perfect gift. Alongside of a "christmas decorated" los santos on GTA Online, would be the most unexpected thing I expected ever.

That'd be really awesome ! MAFIA II is my second favorite game for this reason.

Releasing the PC version after Christmas/anywhere near Mid-2014 is a death sentence compared to what they *could* amass during the Holidays.

Personally, all i need is an announcement so i can at least rest easy and occupy myself with activities. The waiting part for the actual game is gonna be easy (Seriously, will you really have nothing to play come the end of October?), considering the colossal amount of releases going on.

It's only Rockstar's loss now, to be honest. People may or may not even lose interest in the game after all the new releases drop, as well as the next-gen consoles.

If they release the PC version - everyone would buy it (or pirate it...).

Noone cares about the release date.

Would you mind buying GTA more if it would get released in march? I don't think so. And R* knows that (they saw the sales of GTA V for console go mindblowing high in 3 days) everyone will buy it - even if they take their time until mid-2014

Sorry, but you have not played the full game and thus cannot state any facts about the content of an unreleased (Possibly unfinished?) product.

I am fairly sure Watch_Dogs isn't even aiming for the GTA feel. Hence, i expect different kinds of activities that actually fit the game's mood and tone. Just like GTA has always had its own that fit its respective mood and tone.

It really would be perfect gift. Alongside of a "christmas decorated" los santos on GTA Online, would be the most unexpected thing I expected ever.

Well I played APB:Reloaded for over two years.

The Rockstar employee that leaked the Rockstar 2010 portfolio, the three characters, etc. before we know about that stuff said that they were looking at an online version of GTA like APB.

This means Rockstar has been keeping an eye on APB, likely since its beginning development around 04. APB claimed it would do what Rockstar couldn't and create an ONLINE sandbox for players to play as criminals and enforcers (vigilantes acting as the police force) and have all kinds of freedom. Well APB didn't even do that, then Real Time Worlds went under and Gamersfirst (one of the WORST companies EVER) bought the games rights and f*cked it up even more. Put on a dev team that couldn't handle the project of RTW's sh*tty coding and horrible optimizations and it is just barely dragging along right now. Anyways, APB was known for having a really good holiday event history, almost any freaking holiday around the world was celebrated and had an event to go with it, probably one of the very few things G1 and Reloaded Productions did right with APB.

But if what that Rockstar employee said was true, than Rockstar has been watching APB for a long time. They know what has made the game fail and what the few good things that can be taken from it. They learned that in order for you to have a sandbox you have to give freedom to players, in APB everything is structured into missions and nothing is open world other than the word you get sent through to do objectives. It is a false sense of open world and it is funny to watch their fan base defend it as a true open world game, when there is literally nothing to do besides play structured missions in the open world.

So, likely Rockstar has seen the type of effect having holiday events has on a games community and will likely adopt this and use it. It really brings the fans in because not only are they playing but they also usually get some cool game mode or some cool little handout like a shirt, or a new gun, etc.

And to anyone curious about APB, I will tall you this. DO NOT play it. Lol, it is a f*cking mess optimization wise, it is a sh*t show in terms of how unqualified the devs are to do this project and it is f*cking amazing how it has floated along so long. The game barely, and I mean BARELY run at 50 fps for me yet I max MP3, and it was an old 08-10 modified UE3 engine game. Not to mention, you will be looking at less than 20 server FPS as the norm (that is unacceptable for an online SHOOTER).

No, but that doesn't instantly make the game less fun. Let me quote a specific section of your post. Maybe then you will see where you are trying to impose your opinion as fact.

The quote is below in the stupid white box, Idk what happened.

"there is a sh*tload you can do in GTA V, but not in Watch_Piss.

Not sure why but even retyping doesnt get rid of the white bars. Sometimes this new forum pisses me off.

The interesting thing is the fact that APB is created by one of the original Rockstar North creators.

Got to admit I hadn't read much of this thread (none actually) up until a few days ago. I don't remember the speculations before the GTAIV announcement either, whether or not traces of a PC version was found in source files, third party apps or whatnot - but I'd be very surprised with any release earlier than 2014. If this is released early Nov with an announcement early Oct, for instance - wouldn't that be the biggest game to be kept under wraps (relative to this platform, naturally) so close to release? I can't think of any other games that has managed that. GTA IV was announced August 2008, and released December the same year iirc.

Definite purchase, though. Still loyal although treated like second rate customer.

I can completely agree to all of this.

I have been an APB veteran since its earlier closed beta and key to the city event. i saw RTW's APB die and i saw GamersFirst pick up its corpse and just desecrate it entirely. I quit just a few weeks ago, in fact. I guess I'm one of the few veterans who were just too attached to let go, but have found reason to do so now that GTA Online is kind of like a general salvation to the idea of APB.

I suppose It'll all come full circle in the end.

@DymeDef, correct to corrollate APB. The producersof that game came from original DMA, he was one of the original GTA people up through becoming Rockstar North. The creator of GTA, David Jones. APB has always been a market test/tech demo for a future GTA for me because of who made it, good eye :^:

It is potential he went to create an IP to compete before Rockstar got there (true grime style, as it was that kind of story for that game) or that he did it to check for them, before they were sure of the direction GTA will go in the future.

Tried it back when it came out, hated it, felt like crap. But it is indeed made by someone who is connected to the very roots of GTA :D

http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/7660/GTA-Creator-Unveils-All-Points-Bulletin/

At a joint press conference in Seoul, Korea, publisher Webzen, Inc. and David Jones, the creator of Grand Theft Auto, unveiled today his All Point Bulletin.

Interesting, never knew the person who originally created it at RTW was originally from R* North.

And I always thought APB was a piece of sh*t compared to what GTAO could be, even long long before GTAO or APB came out. I watched the development of that game religiously, and then they changed from sandbox gameplay to the structured missions gameplay and I instantly knew it was never going to be what it could have been.

Though, the amount of customization in that game is really really good, specifically the ability to create your own decals and put them on any clothing, car or you character as a tattoo/body paint.

And lh1 I dont need a source if I am getting a confirmation from brain on this as well, two reliable posters is enough for me :p

Xerukal what server did you play on? I bet there are tons of other APB players hiding in here too haha. And like you, I had a hard time letting go, but I decided one day enough was enough and uninstalled it. Never looked back, and all I can say is I am glad. The amount of frustration I would get because of the game itself not running well, servers just sh*tting on your day, it began to get frustrating that I was getting so angry at the game.

I ahve never seen half of the sh*t that happens on this forum on any other forum. Can't copy from a post directly or it does some stupid hyperlink sh*t. Cant copy from above in a quote or it does what just happened to me and even typing after it or retyping the sh*t out it still does it.

Ergh, /endrant

lh1 can I get a source? No offense, just the internet you know?

Haha no big deal, in fact, I like it, I feel that it shows me that you are interest to know more and I am happy for that :p

Anyway here's the source

Thanks.

Does anyone know why he left? Or was it just because he wanted to try to take GTA online before GTA could?

Or was APB really just an experiment? f*ck this is CRAZZZZYYYYYY to think about now, I could have been wasting my last three years almost on some f*cking experiment that didn't even get finished? Ugh lol

At a joint press conference in Seoul, Korea, publisher Webzen, Inc. and David Jones, the creator of Grand Theft Auto, unveiled today his All Point Bulletin.

tthanks for that article.

"As an avid gamer and creator of many single player games, it has been my dream to create an online game experience that provides the player with the ultimate freedom to do whatever he wants, in a thriving, living environment," said David Jones, founder and creative director of Real Time Worlds.

"When looking for a publishing partner for APB, it was imperative to find a company that was a worldwide leader in online games and we found that in Webzen, Inc.

funny how this is what he says when he talks about it, but then it changed and reflected nothing that GTA is. Or anything what he said at all for that matter.

So this guy is the original creator of the GTA games?
