PC Version of GTA V Discussion

I had a look through the Xbox 360 files of GTA V, and found definite proof that they're at least working on a PC version. Not a surprise, but it's at least some sort of confirmation that it's coming.

These are basically the actions you can keybind, and these specific actions wouldn't make sense on consoles. And it could have been something generic for the engine, from eg. Max Payne 3, except for the fact there are actions to switch to each GTA V character, indicating that these are GTA V specific.

but if These files already exist then the pc Version already must be finished.

Not necessarily. It's a possibility, but it could be just work in progress.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if the PC version was ready when the console versions were, and they're now just waiting a few months to announce it, then tell people they're working on a port, then do nothing for another 4 months, and then release the already complete version.

That makes no sense at all. If they have the PC version done or almost done and they hold the release date for months, it's for bussiness reasons. They actually just need to say "GTA V coming to PC next [whatever month they say]" and start marketing. They don't have to come with false excuses like the porting process one if it's not a port.

Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiighly unlikely.

They would not just sit on a product that is done AND skip the best selling holiday all in one go just for sh*ts and giggles.

Holidays are right around the corner, which is one of the best times to be selling games, especially new ones. GTA V on consoles has slowed down by nearly 90% of what they made off the first day, they are likely going to be making only a minuscule fraction of what they made on day one from here on out daily. This means every day they wait to release the PC version is another day they miss out on getting more copies sold.

It would just be a horrible business decision to just wait for no reason. They likely are not talking about the PC version specifically to hype the current gen console sales, but they wont hold out on a PC version only to beef up those numbers by maybe a few million dollars over a couple months as opposed to hitting the largest market of gaming right before the holidays (everyone and their mothers would ask for a PC version of GTA V for the holidays).

IMO just sitting on a product that is finished would be a bigger step backwards than deciding to port GTA V and not make it a side by side development where the PC version is its own version created specifically for PC.

Hilarious part of that GTA IV port was when the fans turned round and told R* Toronto they missed out the giant moon. Toronto weren't sure they had and went and checked and sure enough they did indeed forget to have a moon in the sky at night.

You can only laugh about it now looking back. Biggest game of the time stuck together by what looked like the rookie internship team.

Well looks like it's true Rockstar Toronto hired high-school programmers. It was their fault really though for firing the senior Rockstar Toronto team back when The Warriors didn't meet their expectations.

Don't expect them to let the mask fall before October 1, they will only address PC when they confirm the online for consoles is running as it should, if it's full of bugs they have to delay whatever plan they have. With millions of copies sold they can't sit on top of players complains about online mode if there are problems. Once GTAO is in the good way they'll talk about PC, if it's complete nothing is tying them other then GTAO.

Some of the XMG config files pointed 32 players support for GTA V Online on Xbox. Maybe we're getting 64 players + support on PC...

GTA IV PC supported 32, and far as I know those files have the mention to 16 and 32 players, same as IV, and most of what that guy wrote don't make any sense at all, lots of unfunded speculations.

I really think the console gamers will be very mad if the PC version haves more options than it already haves. I still think that the car damage (which yeah it's a lil bit flawed) it's due to hardware limitations. I'm pretty sure it will be better on PC. If it's really being developed alongside the consoles and it is taking this amount of time to announce it... I think it's something. And is something bigger than the console version.

Is damage not being controlled by handling.cfg? I remember years ago IV's damage can be modded by editing values in handling.cfg.

Never said anything about them talking before the first. In fact I never said anything about them talking other than that they would not just sit on their completed product for no reason other than they always sit on it for 8 months. That is not the reason why they would wait and are waiting, and that was what I said. Obviously GTAO has to be stable first, they don't even have the SC stable yet lol, I keep getting a login error every time.

Most of you guys are forgetting about GTA Online.. Online play is the better on PC.. best multiplayer games are PC, MMOs ans stuff Consoles cant handle.. R* said the will continue to develop for GTA Online and what best way to make it big that with a platform that gives millions with multipayer.. And you dont even need to pay for stuff like xbox live and sh*t..

I Can totally see GTAV being developed for PC as lead platform because they have so much freedom with the multiplayer.. then tone it down and milk the consoles first.. and what better time to do this than at the end of this gen when the number of consoles is at its highest..

have any possibility of three is among the GTAV
of which sold 1 billion dollars in three days remembering that the steam has 60 million logins

Idk, that seems like they are going to release information about Steam Living Room not games.

Nobody here is questioning if there will be a PC release, read the last 20 pages. Tons of evidence riddled in those posts, along with some flame wars lol.

It will be exactly like Silver said. They will not announce the PC version until they can get the consoles GTAO to be stable and have most of the bugs fixed if not all that they know about. This would be a bad move if they didn't and I would be mad as a customer that they would sell a product that they knew wouldn't be working right (Likely why they gave themselves 2 weeks to prepare for the sh*t storm that is SC right now, delaying GTAO till the 1st after releasing on the 17th of sept.)

Once the consoles can play GTAO smooth we will likely hear a PC announcement and probably a much shorter release after the announcement. But they have to get GTAO working properly or all hell will break loose when the PC gets added into it.

Horrible business decision?

It's the PERFECT business decision. Not announcing the PC version makes a lot of PC players think it won't come on PC, and they'll end up buying the console version. Or they'll buy the console version because they can't wait.

This boosts the sales even more. Then in a few months, they'll announce the PC version, and once it's released they'll get even more money, and even the PC players who bought it on console will buy it again on PC.

Not releasing it side by side is developmental. Read what brian said like 12 times the last two days.

This is simple, send an email to Rockstar and ask for GTA V PC straight.

If they say "No it won't be released or we don't have any plans for it right now" you'll know they didn't even started it.

But if they ignore your message or tell you they are currently focus on console version or stare at a wall pretending you're not there, they're hiding it.

And till now thats what they're doing, avoiding the PC talk like a vampire running away from garlic.

Yeah, R* isnt replying any question about the PC version. A lot of ppl were saying that on Newswire...The fact that they're avoiding it so hard, proves they have something to hide.

Yeah, asked them about the PC version and showed them all those evidences from iFruit - didn't reply to me :D

@amazingxx - there won't be any mods for GTA Online.

Yeah, R* isnt replying any question about the PC version. A lot of ppl were saying that on Newswire...The fact that they're avoiding it so hard, proves they have something to hide.

Yeah :)

True that. If there was no PC version it would be a flat no so that we would not wait forever and just buy it for consoles if we wanted to play.

Not talking about it is all they can do.

Yeah, all the requests for a PC version (as long as they were non abusive) have stayed up on the newswire too. Despite some console gamers attempts to try block these messages by saying it breaks comment section rules. lol

Since the release I don't think I've seen Rockstar officially responding with the "focused on consoles" line either.

They are probably too busy with finishing up the PC build and getting the SC ready for GTAO and all this traffic its been getting.
