PC Version of GTA V Discussion

LA Noire used the same stupid pattern like GTA before. Why LA Noire if it's not GTA? Rockstar spent so much money and effort on Max Payne 3 because it has lower fanbase than GTA? Where's logic here? Why would they do that?

It's pointless to argue about how all this relates to GTA V. They will announce GTA V when they think is right.

Yeah. Still, Max Payne 3 is using the same engine GTA V is using now. So why would they put so much money and effort for a game, which isn't as big as GTA? Answer is obvious.

Stop putting IGN as a clue, they don't know sh*t. Sort it out on the console version files or on Take 2 reports. It's much more useful information.

I think a few month wait for PC gamers is frustrating. I mean come on, times have changed, PC market is growing. There are alot of PC games which have sold very well. Skyrim is almost a two year old game which doesn't even have a Multiplayer mode and It's still top played game on Steam. We've come to a times when PC gamers deserve to be treated equally.

Rockstar doesn't give a f*ck about that, it seems. They're fine with their pattern

I have a question for anyone who knows something about those codes which leaked few days ago? Doesn't those codes mean that GTA V was already tested on PC? Because why would there be some kind of value that shows how many pedestrians, vehicle, textures are on PC version of the game? I'm green about that thing, so someone tell me if I am wrong or not.

It seems that yes. I didn't analyze it very closely, but even with short acquaintance it seems that yes.

XML, which was posted on Pastebin contains several main nodes.

1. <!-- Base configuration, applies to all platforms and builds. -->

These are the base configuration options for all platforms. Big part of the options are the same for all platfoms, others are specific for each platform and will be overrided.

2. <!-- Beta configuration overrides -->

<Platforms>Any</Platforms>

Some specifical configuration options for beta version of the game. For example, it contains such an option as "<!-- test_startup creates lots of peds and cars around Pershing Square -->"

3. <!-- Xbox 360 configuration overrides -->

<Build>Any</Build>

<Platforms>xbox360</Platforms>

Some specific configuration options for xbox360 version.

4. <!-- PS3 configuration overrides -->

<Build>Any</Build>

<Platforms>ps3</Platforms>

Some specific configuration options for PS3 version.

5. Here is also config for final build of XBOX 360

<Build>Final</Build>
<Platforms>xbox360</Platforms>
6. <!-- PC configuration overrides -->
Some specifics configuration options for PC platform that overrides their counterparts from the base configuration options.
<Build>Any</Build>
<Platforms>pc</Platforms>
For PC, there is a lot of options which differ from those specified in base configuration
For example, base configuration:
<Item>
<PoolName>Peds</PoolName>
<PoolSize value="110"/>
</Item>
PC configuration:
<Item>
<PoolName>Peds</PoolName>
<PoolSize value="256"/>
</Item>
---
Base configuration:
<Item>
<PoolName>MaxTotalPeds</PoolName>
<PoolSize value="100"/>
</Item>
PC configuration:
<Item>
<PoolName>MaxTotalPeds</PoolName>
<PoolSize value="200"/>
</Item>
---
Base configuration:
<Item>
<PoolName>Vehicles</PoolName>
<PoolSize value="148"/>
</Item>
PC configuration:
<Item>
<PoolName>Vehicles</PoolName>
<PoolSize value="256"/>
</Item>
---
Base configuration:
<Item>
<PoolName>VehicleUpperLimit</PoolName>
<PoolSize value="60"/>
</Item>
PC configuration:
<Item>
<PoolName>VehicleUpperLimit</PoolName>
<PoolSize value="150"/>
</Item>
---
Base configuration:
<Item>
<PoolName>VehicleMaxCreationDistance</PoolName>
<PoolSize value="225"/>
</Item>
PC configuration:
<Item>
<PoolName>VehicleMaxCreationDistance</PoolName>
<PoolSize value="285"/>
</Item>

etc. As you can see, all values are bigger.

6. Also there is a config for Orbis platform(PS4)

<Build>any</Build>
<Platforms>orbis</Platforms>
7. And a couple of configs for nonfinal versions of builds for any platform

Random guess, there will be a pc announcement on oct. 1. The same day as gta online begins. And exactly 2 weeks after console release date. idk

GTA Online changes everything. Every day it's not on the other platforms is a day the suits missed the chance at hoovering up extra income. it really is that simple. GTA is now essentially changing from a big single player sandbox, to a MMO style sandbox with a single player component attached.

Classic old GTA release timetable for the single player game is obsolete.

So apparently Pershing Square doesn't exist in GTA V, meaning they have been building the PC version for quite a while too or they're using Pershing Square as a codename.

How Pershing Square is related?

And about GTA Online. I agree with you FutoDriver. The main thing here is GTA Online now. GTA V story is a big thing too, but after it's completed - GTA Online.

by the way there is still the date as the spring of 2013. It's been about 6 months. It may be a change of date was due to the PC?

It shows LA Noire only for X360 and PS3... What the heck? Anyway, many retailers lists GTA V PC version release date 2013. Why not just TBA or 2014 TBA?

Not necessary. Pershing Square is mentioned in the "Beta version" config section which has element <Platforms>Any</Platforms>.

"Any platforms" doesn't mean that they used this config section for ALL platforms.

They could use it for XBOX360 and PS3 only, without PC.

All the "30%" lingo, if you guys remember that, they can shut the f*ck up :^:

30% market share was in like 2006, years old as I said, and notch is a notch. They do 50-70% and the give developers more than double what they make elsewhere.

Also, before the quote. Holy sh*t has anyone seen HD video yet? The textures are raped, so low res, blurry, shaky ass texel density, really shocked. Can't wait to play the game shown in screenshots :x

Valve does not release any sales figures on its Steam service, instead it only provides the data to companies with games on Steam,[128][129] which they cannot release without permission due to signing a non-disclosure agreement with Valve.[130][131] However, Stardock, the previous owner of competing platform Impulse, estimated that, as of 2009, Steam had a 70% share of the digital distribution market for video games.[8] In early 2011, Forbesreported that Steam sales constituted 50–70% of the $4 billion market for downloaded PC games and that Steam offered game producers gross margins of 70% of purchase price, compared with 30% at retail.[132]

It is obvious. Most of Max Payne fanbase are PC gamers. And Rockstar knows that. Like I said, it's pointless to argue about possible PC announcement.

GTA have a big fanbase of PC players too. Max Payne 3 engine was very well optimized for PC, so it's easier for them to use RAGE engine with their other games, for example GTA V. They only need to make it work with sandbox game (more items loaded while playing). So it's like half-way done. They've got all DX11 features already in Max Payne 3, just make it work in GTA V. And GTA IV was first their big game with RAGE engine, they didn't know how to use it properly.

Look what's been found more in the GTAV X360 version

gyxK2.jpg

Nice ! Could this be the PC frontend buttons Ash was talking about ?

Perhaps!

One would also wonder what's inside 'hudold.xtd', I would have expected R* to do some more cleanup before a final build. :pp

I think this means that they have been testing PC version of the game earlier, that's why it's in X360 files.

Never trust a guy who wears his dads suit.

Also this is the same guy who quoted verbatim from The Scotsman article without checking that the journalist had clearly not even talked to anyone at Rockstar North.

If someone reliable could check the path once he gets the game, would be very clarifying. I'm not going to call it a fake, but would like some reliable source.
