PC Version of GTA V Discussion

@Fear The Saturn

He says in the video that R* already planned port to PC, but just like they did on the others GTA releases, only after 6-8 months. I believe the petition and e-mails asking for the PC version just accelerated the process.

This guy have been doing videos about GTA V since the begining of the year. A lot of things that he said about features of the game, before it was announced, really happened. That's why I believe in most of things that he says.

I'tm tired of all those bullsh*tters. Maybe he is definitely knows something, but 99 percents of them are attention whores, bullsh*tters and trolls. You never know so f*ck them

I really doubt Rockstar said they didn't care about PC players when they've done PC games in the past. Plus that's not something a developer says and I really doubt the petition influenced them as a big developer. That's probably what they didn't care about, not PC gamers.

I know I'll get chewed up and spit out for this but, is it so much for a PCer to just go buy a used Xbox or PS3 to use until a PC version comes out? Or are PC people just that hardcore loyal they won't even touch a console? If it were me, and I had the extra cash, I'd do just that for a game that I practically cream myself thinkin' about. I kinda like watchin the kiddies have their little online console wars, or PC/console wars, or Mac/PC wars, cuz when ya get older you'll find the things you use to have a strong opinion about, you'll shrug off...cuz like's too short, and there are so many more important things to worry about. Yeah, I got a little off-topic. Happens in my old age.

I am a PC player and I would never ever purchase a console just to play GTA V as long as there is a chance of it coming to PC, I would not purchase a console even if it never comes to PC as well.

I would rather spend the money saved on a console to purchase either cheap games during the STEAM sales or maybe put it aside for a future upgrade for a PC component. Also in addition should I know for sure it will hit PC it makes no sense for me to play it on console before becasue of the extra power of the PC and that it will look better.

Anyway I'm seeing GTA V PC being announced 2-3 weeks after consoles.

That is certainly a possibility. Take-Two shipped 6 million copies of GTA IV in the first week, 11 million copies until late May 2008, and 13 million copies until March 2009. As you can see, the first month sales are incredibly high, and it decreases significantly after that, albeit still being outstanding. So, an announcement of the PC version right after the sales slow down a lot would make sense. It could be a matter of only a couple of weeks to a month. A release in this year is still possible too, given that Rockstar did release titles for PC just a couple of months after their respective announcement in the past, although, it has been sometime since they did do that. But that was only the case with games that were ported from consoles to PC, which is probably not the case with GTAV.

Yeah, this is a possibility. Now it only confirms that Rockstar told IGN to remove PC version, but they failed to remove it all.

Them niggas, did it right with Max Payne 3, was damn good game on PC. They'll do the same goddamn bullsh*t with GTA V, will look amazing.

As for Russian IGN, I REALLY doubt they know something. Maybe, this is true for all the others.

Russian IGN just recently opened and that's a small team, who doesn't know anything. Their main job is translation of articles from original IGN

Warching some clips here and there from the people already playing the game makes me even more ready to have the game on PC so modders can sort out the handling.

I really hope it's this year. Maybe Rockstar wanna make a surprise for PC gamers? Imagine their announcement saying that it will be released after a month or two :D

And yeah, what's keeping Rockstar from developing PC version alongside X360 and PS3? Their focus on consoles doesn't mean PC version will be a port. They made a very good version of Max Payne 3 for PC and everyone noticed that. One of the best optimized games ever. I don't think it will be a port.

And damn, I hope we will get it THIS YEAR! Can't wait for announcement. After that I will be able to sleep calm :D

I think a few month wait for PC gamers is frustrating. I mean come on, times have changed, PC market is growing. There are alot of PC games which have sold very well. Skyrim is almost a two year old game which doesn't even have a Multiplayer mode and It's still in top 10 of most played games on Steam, thanks to modding community there are a lot of more possibilities on the PC version. We've come to a times when PC gamers deserve to be treated equally.

Rockstar doesn't give a f*ck about that, it seems. They're fine with their pattern

It will be here by December. They're currently fine-tuning all the engine parameters and resource usage stuff and upgrading things like GTA Online. They've been running the game on PC since the start, most of the code is platform-agnostic anyway.

We can't say that yet. We will see in a month. But really, release for PC this year is very likely. Past games from Rockstar were delayed because they made ports to PC after the releases. That's why it took from 6 to 8 months. In GTA V case, I don't think they did the same. Everything shows that it was more of a Max Payne 3 kind, not GTA IV. I think they really noticed how good PC users treat Rockstar after Max Payne 3 release - because it was an amazing version of that game. They had plenty of time to do the same thing they did with Max Payne 3. GTA IV had very bad response in terms of technology, while Max Payne 3 was an amazing. Which side would sane people choose?

I have a question for anyone who knows something about those codes which leaked few days ago? Doesn't those codes mean that GTA V was already tested on PC? Because why would there be some kind of value that shows how many pedestrians, vehicle, textures are on PC version of the game? I'm green about that thing, so someone tell me if I am wrong or not.

Makes me wonder if there was something PC related also in the console versions of GTA IV when it was released.

I hope so and there is a bit of time for announcement. But this complete silence regarding PC version... Btw, Max Payne 3 was announced on all platforms simultaneously.

We silence doesn't mean it's not already made. We will get announcement after September 17th and that's it.

Max Payne 3 was announced on all platforms simultaneously because it's not as big as GTA series. And it was announced, I don't know, something like 2 or 3 years before the release in 2012. I think they spent lots of time making a PC version, so in the end it would be easier to use RAGE engine in their future games. At the time when Max Payne 3 was in the works, at the same time Rockstar was making a GTA V. And we all know their collaboration between studios. Would it be better to spent more time and make a very good engine which could work on their future games, or spent less time and then make sh*tty ports in the future? Rockstar shot 2 targets with 1 bullet when they worked with a PC version of Max Payne 3.

I'd say it's complete bullsh*t. 6-8 months? Have you seen the pattern of R* releasing GTA games after 6-8 months?

Why in the world GTA SA took that much to be released on PC? What is the difference between GTA SA and GTAV?

What is the difference between RenderWare and RAGE? It's all about the contracts being signed

to have the GTA games 8 months exclusive for consoles. When the cotracts has ended, R* can release them.

It's too obvious, especially if you see the difference between GTA SA and GTAV and between RenderWare and RAGE.

That 8 months after consoles is really complete bullsh*t.

Be prepared to wait another 8 months.

Compare PC market in 2004/2005 and in 2012/2013.

Are you reffering to my reply? If yes, that doesn't change a thing because it's GTA.

R* is using that pattern for really long time and they will use it again.

They used it till Max Payne 3. All games before Max Payne 3 used the same stupid pattern. Now that doesn't mean it will be used again, because as I said - we could have a Max Payne 3 situation here.

But MP3 is not GTA. It's not even an open world game. That is not an excuse.

Max Payne doesn't have that big fanbase like GTA does have.

LA Noire used the same stupid pattern like GTA before. Why LA Noire if it's not GTA? Rockstar spent so much money and effort on Max Payne 3 because it has lower fanbase than GTA? Where's logic here? Why would they do that?

I think now Rockstar puts an experiment to get the maximum benefit from the release of GTA. And it does not necessarily mean that the PC release must be in 8 months.
