I want it on the PC because I want to play it on the PC, not because of mods. Plus I can't f*cking play action games with a controller.

Me too.

I join too. Just can't play action games with a damn controller.

IGN removed PC version of GTA V. I wonder why :D

Means no gta v pc forever?

Probably because Rockstar kicked their asses.

Who wouldn't take this bet? And then screw you over if you turn out to be right...

This. A bet of such would hold no weight on a forum. Long story short though, the the fact the new consoles are here, and the whole online world where it's going to be full of transaction money.

There's simply to many sources telling us it's this year and for once it makes sense (because of the points above). You got people selling steam keys expecting it in the autumn period and I just seen this on a very reputable store who would be in the know.

http://www.zavvi.com/games/platforms/pc/gta-grand-theft-auto-v-5-includes-atomic-blimp-dlc/10569987.html

Anyone from the U.K could tell you Zavvi are a major online store. They have a placeholder date of December, but why not just have 'ETA 2014' like some of their other products if they are expecting it next year? :monocle:

Well I coulda sworn this listing was removed, and the release date was not december or anything. Anyway, I found the cache version of that following page

http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:PBeKbg13BKgJ:www.zavvi.com/games/platforms/pc/gta-grand-theft-auto-v-5-includes-atomic-blimp-dlc/10569987.html+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk

According to this, it seems like they switched the release date from the old 17 September to 06 December in just 7 days ! They definitely received some news or anything from Rockstar.

Well, IGN is bullsh*t site, so it doesn't mean anything.

I agree with you guys about those listings. Well, we will get announcement very soon. We can get it any day after September 17th. And it's clear now - PC version should be already made.

I messaged Zavvi to try and get more info. I got a reply from that German distributor and they said they're expecting a PC release nothing more.

I think they didn't wanted to told us about nextgen/pc versions, because that would decrease sales on PS3/X360. I mean if somebody is going to buy a next gen console he would probably wait those 2-3 months and get a better GTA V than bought currentgen version.

I think anyone that leaks a certain release right now gets Rockstar on their nuts. Just look at how they frogmarched Nvidia around to the press when they hinted "this autumn".

PC announcement 2-3 months after console release

PC release 3-4 months after announcement

Around 6-8 months

It doesn't have to have such a long gap between the announcement.

It does have to be atleast a 2 month gap between announcement and release date. So, if there is no announcement before October 24, we ain't going to see GTA V this year. And i don't think they will announce it faster because now they are in a "cooldown period".

hey stef, do you mind if I use your sig?

After seeing the gameplay I really wanna play it. I'm not paying £35 for an inferior version, though, even if trading it in later saves me some money. I'll be boycotting any future GTA release on console.

If there is no PC version, the game will die too early.

There will be only videos like the leaks now, walkthrough and multiplayer.

But with PC we well have a life support - MODS = tons of videos, screens, webs ... etc

Damn, without PC version even this forum will die no mods section, no troubleshooting, no PC performance, no theatre...

sadly.

Rockstar also sometimes posts videos from YouTube in their newswire. 99% of them are PC version. Videos = commercial = money. After PC release nobody gonna watch X360/PS3 gameplay. Why? Because PC/next-gen will have better graphics and with video editor we can have so much fun. Also mods. PC videos are better because of the quality.

Indeed. It will be very boring to watch consoles version gameplay on Youtube and around the internet.

It will get boring as soon as you just keep watching gameplay and nothing more.

GTAV PC will have much much more variations between mods, handling mods and other nice timecyc mods etc.

You can mod the game to your hearts coontent, make nice timecyc mods, improve handling

and good texture mods and much more, It will never get boring.

Look at GTA SA. 9 years old game and still lots of people mod the game to their hearts content.

And btw, I agree to the others the handling looks sh*t in the leaked gameplay video's.

It's like GTA SA but with disabled brakes. On PC you can improve the handling.

I'm sure the mod creator of the Realistic Driving for GTAIV will do the same to GTAV.

Can't wait to crash into other cars and do jumpbs in the deserst and all.

Man, f*ck R* how they treat us PC gamers.

I don't know what's the deal with Rockstar.

Other developers somehow don't have a problem with releasing their big titles simultaneously on consoles AND PC

Only Rockstar has a problem.

Look at Skyrim or every Call Of Duty release. These are huge titles and are released the same DAY as PC version and somehow developers don't bitch about piracy.

Releasing it simultaneously on consoles and PC doesn't mean that the console users won't buy it

facepalm_picard2.jpg

I don't get this argument at all, I mean it's quite clear that Rockstar prefers to work with technology that is limited. I also know why they choose to do it like this, the more experience they have with limited technology makes them stronger developers, which is precisely the reason why no other developer can touch them. Now of course there will be a PC version, however the amount of people who think they know everything about Rockstar's choice of development is pathetic! Rockstar likes to be limited, it's the only thing they have to make a game that is balanced, impressive, diverse, consistent, instead of going all out straight away and wasting all of their ideas on one game at once. There's only one Rockstar, you can mark my words on that! They're easily the most intelligent computer game developer in the world. Most of their money goes into creating great games like Grand Theft Auto V, so they deserve money. You've heard it for yourself, GTA V is the most expensive game ever made in the history of the world! The gameplay from what I have seen is better than what they showed in any of the trailers, if anything the trailers did not do the graphics justice like the leaks have! If Rockstar can do ridiculous coding and programming on 8 year old hardware that has other developers scratching their heads in frustration, just imagine what they will be able to in the future from the knowledge of limitation workarounds they have gathered? Rockstar is the pinnacle of interactive entertainment and no one can ever surpass them!

It is because the way they are developing their games for each platform. Other companies out there are developing their titles simultaneously and seperatly for all platforms, which is not what Rockstar's doing. They are porting their games from the console version to PC. It changed with Max Payne 3, as this game was developed in tandem and the PC version was delayed by only a couple of weeks. We can only speculate about GTAV when it comes to the way it is developed for PC, but it's most likely not a port like MP3. What probably keeps them away from a simultanous release is that Rockstar North is developing the console version, while another studio, either Toronto or Leeds, is working on the PC version. It has been like this since over a decade, basically since Rockstar Games took over DMA Design.

You guys are right thinking it is developed side by side. it was up in the air until we saw that xml dump.

But we shouldn't assume it's "done" and just collecting dust for business purposes - that delay, that was probably the time they hunkered down and focused solely on the final versions for the initial launch. There is likely some work left to do for the remaining platforms, just beginning in the last few weeks/months when V went to press discs for consoles, but the bulk is likely done. Anything that is common between platforms is of course finished, the PC probably gets all the high textures dumped into it BEFORE those files have top-level textures deleted, leaving only mipmaps for ",medium textures" to remain for the launch version etc. Lots of stuff is done first on PC, but then crunch time means it's time to focus on the console version.

As for no XB1 version mentioned in the files, I think I remember reading somewhere that for XB1, making games will basically be as simple as configging them for the hardware and the settings it should build with, and basically your windows version works right on the console, it's likely got some extra hoops, and take this with a grain of salt because I'm not sure, but if I do recall correctly, the PC version basically is the XB1 version of games in the future, with its own config for the console rather than the front end and options to change.

Again, not sure, but I think I read something along those lines.

We seem to be a minority,

Who cares about mods, some people just want to play because it's their normal platform. Period.

Probably the only thing I'll change is get rid of some of the weapon models.

They're going to curse themselves because this is the last game on gen7 hardware, PC,XBO and PS4 are all x86, and PC is the gateway between them.

long story short, if they refuse to adapt to the market instead of developing on the same limited hardware, they're going to die out.

Yea, I kept looking at their tech and learning how they do things, but I didn't actually get into modding GTA IV like I did III, VC, and SA. Modding gta isn't much a big deal to me anymore unless the project is a new map and a new mission script tbh, other than that, MP mods (MTA) were even enough by the end of my time with SA as my "main game I play".

It really is about the controls. The CHOICE to use whatever I want for combat, and go to joypad for driving/flying/etc if I CHOOSE. You know? I have a choice.

Up through SA and IV even, I don't think this choice mattered as much and was just nice to have choice - but now, after actually playing Max Payne 3 for a while now, after seeing V and how much shooting has changed (in many ways, sure, for the better), I can see I am really going to want my keyboard on foot - I will not want to settle for LT->RT->Stick select next->RT. I will want the control freedom, the ability to be agile with my look/neck, I will want to really get the most out of these controls and really get the most dynamic battle I can - I'm not going to get that on a joypad the same way I couldn't in IV.

In IV, it was still okay. V is so much more polished in the combat, I really cannot see getting a "full" experience from joypad. It won't be "twitchy" enough for me, for lack of a better word, and simply not responsive enough for what I can see is now possible in GTA. V brings that "fps like precision" from max payne 3. Sure it's not as agile as an actual fps, but playing max payne 3, I definitely get a lot more crazy gunfights with my mouse than I do with my 360 pad.

I am basically a vanilla gamer these days when it comes to mods, on that subject one last time. If I wanna make mods, I'd rather be working with and learning udk, unity, checking up on our own game engine project and stuff, I don't need to modify others' games, and it's getting harder and harder anyway, while developing your own is getting easier and easier, you can do it at home now, you don't have to work on someone else's game at a office unless you want to.

I'm a big MW2 player on PC, that is vac protected and even texture mods can get you banned on that game if they catch you, and I don't even want to change it. It would be a whole different story if they put out CoDRadiant for it for making maps, but they didn't, and I'm alright with that at this point.

I know lots of people love mods, and love to make them still, and I am very happy they do because I love to try some of them from time to time and to watch their vids and see their work, so glad it's still alive and at least still being done, but I myself, I just prefer:

1: The value to consumers in PC gaming

2: The fact that by plugging into a tv, I have the best console

3: the higher graphics settings

4: the higher gameplay elements, more interactivity, more peds cars etc

I just stopped seeing any logic at all to television for starters, and now consoles are redundant to me - my computer does all of that, usually better for me. Sure the tv is nice to have to watch movies and stuff, but literally everything i can get out of a console, my computer already does better. Literally every single thing that is of any real tangible value in consoles, is better for me on my PC.

So when it came time for GTA IV, it made no sense at all for me to buy a console, and instead spent less on a new cpu and gpu and over the years have now added more ram and got a newer gpu and all, I still have spent less than I would have, on multiplayer savings alone. I don't know man, it's not even just that it's the platform I want to play my games on, it's the only platform that doesn't coddle me or hold my hand, or worse, lock me out of the functionality of the hardware. Those consoles could both just straight run windows or linux, and then we'd all be happy together, and we'd get along.

And that is the main thing I don't like about consoles. The days of them being something unique are over, and at this point, they are just some locked ass library computer that I'm only allowed to use for a fraction of its capabilties - it feels patronizing, and I for one, that's why I get so passionate when I see people treating them like more than a video game version of a Ruko box, cause that's all they really are - a convenience item - and convenience stores cost more and give less. So that's why for me, consoles just are not an option.

Before I knew all that I know on the subject, it didn't matter. Now I almost feel bad for people who are spending a lot of money under the impression they are saving money, when console life cycle has been proven to be in some cases 3x more expensive for some gamers than playing on PC.

Of course, PC's use more power, are bigger, I understand there are MANY excellent reasons to like the consoles. Shared game stations, something you don't mind your kids also using and they can't mess it up, group gaming, many many more excellent reasons to buy a console, but for me, they are the "rich man's" gaming rig, and I personally do not live in such decedance that I can pay premium fees for less overall value, when right in front of me is more value in comparatively less cost across the board, aside from perhaps power depending on how hungry your PC is (amd pc tends to be more power hungry than a intel/nvidia setup for example. store bought "just works" pc will take less power than self built performance pc etc).

To be honest I don't want the PC version to mod it, I want the PC version to play it. I barely modded IV if at all, I prefer vanilla GTA's, especially the RAGE engine ones.
