PC Version of GTA V Discussion

Same here. Plan on leaving this forum until a pc version is announced

 

So you really gonna wait 6-8 months for the game to come out on PC? I don't see it happen. You'll bump on some information anyway, you won't make it. Isn't it better to get a job and buy used console and then used game month after the release? Consoles'/games' prices in US are ridiculous to what I have to pay for it in my country. I'm really impressed, lol.

R* understands PC is a very powerful platform and thus porting it to the current gen consoles involves lot of preparation and delay which may result in release close to PS4/Xbox1 releases latter.

They may also have to tweak accordingly for the platforms which requires time and proper understanding of the best porting quality keeping it optimum throughout on all 3 platforms ( talking strictly about PC, PS4 and Xbox1 )

 

They will release for PC 100% and guaranteed but when the time is right for simultaneous releases on PS4 and Xbox 1.

 

Blame PS4 and Xbox1 timing and not R*. They have to plan a lot of things ahead and it's not that easy as whining and bashing without any understanding how all this works out.

i said it before in this thread. used market is dead in my country, amazon does not ship PS3 or xbox360 to my country, ebay shipping is 200USD and the PS3 or xbox 360 price never drop in shops.

its in SGD so just use google to convert to USD. anyway the price is ridiculous just to play a single game ( especially if you are gonna include the price of GTA V itself). i'm also not loaded with cash and there are a bunch of other things i can spend that cash on.

 

should probably mention that shops refuse to sell the console itself ( even sony's own shop)

Well I am not sure about that but GTA IV PC version was announced 3 months and 7 days later after the console version was released. So if that's the case, then GTA V PC version will be announced this early December, I think they might announce it during the 5th Anniversary of GTA IV PC week or the week after. I highly doubt they will even announce it in January since they only have announcements in late January, and by then, it would be 4 months later.

There have been leaking GTAV gameplay video's today and saw one.

I'm not gonna post that video to risk any warning or so but I can tellyou, the streets are almost empty.

It's like ghosttown cheat has been applied or so. The streets are exactly like NFS Most Wanted 2012.

That is the problem with the limitations of current consoles. I don't care about graphics

otherwise i would have been playing Crysis 3 and AC IV Black Flag when it come sout and Watch Dogs.

But those reduced features.... I want to get the best of the gameplay.

I wonder why R* makes us PC gamers suffer from the fact that we are not going to enjoy this masterpiece like everyone else will. I don't get it.
This whole situation has already passed the point where I hate R*. Now I don't hate them. It's like you can't really hate your mother cause she forbade you to play games when you were a little kid. Check out Dark Souls sales on consoles and PC. In fact, I am so sure that PC will have better numbers, lump both Xbox AND PS3 together for sales compared to PC.

I don't know the method so I won't comment, but it does obviously cost them something to put it on steam. Meanwhile to get an Xbox game world wide you have to mass produce CD's, cases, and manuals and ship them out to thousands of locations. That is just for Xbox, now spend more for PS3 and with a different case, CD and manual. Congrats, you just spent a small fortune on distribution fees, while the PC department loses hardly anything in terms of distribution fees.

 

But then again, you are claiming that a 60 dollar game could be on sale for PC at 5 lol.... No logic at all in any of your statements.

If the consoles worked like Steam there wouldn't be leaks before the release date. The encryption keys for a game sold on Steam aren't released until release day. Consoles are reason why we PC gamers can't have nice things. This is why the PC version of GTA V should have been released first.

First of, Steam doesn't buy keys one by one knowing what they'll sell or not, like any retailers they buy BULKS of keys, the more they buy the cheaper they are. Reason why they sell games at $60 and suddenly they make promotions at $10, it means they reached their projected profit so now they can sell the rest cheaper. The articles I posted 2 pages ago, prove that. The developers create keys withing their own system that unlock the games. Steam doesn't buy the game rights and creates as many keys as they want. It's like this with MP3 and any digital content. In fact even in the TV or Music industry works like this, everytime you use something you have to pay royals to the owner, with steam that is the license key.

And Rockstar does this to PC players because of the money, because of the way the market works. If Rockstar announced that they were releasing PC version alongside consoles the pre-orders for the current consoles wouldn't be high as they are, because who have the consoles and PC would chose PC without any doubt. They could chose ocnsole because of their friends but those are individual details that would take more factors into consideration.

By doing this Rockstar sells the game for consoles and when PC is released those who bought it before will buy it again and if it's released for Next gen and they get a new console they'll buy it again. So some people can even buy the game 3 times, that alongside the opportunity to sell the rest of the old consoles on the shelves. With people so impatient this is the right opportunity for them to sell old consoles in the last days of their life.

Rockstar could even announce the PC version 2 weeks after the consoles release if the numbers are high enough, but for now they have to keep that announcement in the shadows. Thats called marketing. This time I don't think Rockstar needs the extra months to port the game or decide how to port it, everything points to a side by side development with consoles like happened with Max Payne 3.

Now they just need the perfect timing, that will depend on a few factors, like the console sales and when they start downgrading, the fact that they want or not to release alongside with next Gen, contracts with Sony and Microsoft, time frame for Online and the needed manpower for maintenance at the beginning, need for bug solutions if any. It depends on a lot of unpredictable variables, but rest assured it will be released on PC and if my logic is right won't need 6-8 months.

And no, the game developer does NOT make more from a 60 dollar game than they do for a game on sale. Shipping, pressing, stocking, all of that sh*t costs money. They make 10% on a GOOD day. Which is about 6 dollars. 5 to 10 percent = what game developers make.

Digital sales do NOT lower developer profits. Steam buys keys IN BULK and gives PLENTY of up front profit to Developers. Once steam is ready, they will then put a game on sale. Better believe: Even when a game is on sale for 5 dollars, the developer ALREADY profited and steam is STILL profiting more than any hard-copy will profit because the COSTS related are FAR lower.

 

60 dollars for those games when they first come out = WINDFALL profits, THOSE profits are what afford steep sales.

 

Now, there have been enough links given, enough google for you done already, I don't *need* to prove myself to momos, because intelligent people already back me up, and so does the entire internet, if you'd just go research my claims, you'll find they are ALL backed up.

 

And no, steam does not keep 30% of sales. That's an OLD number, and it speaks to their MARKET SHARE, NOT their profit share. It speaks to how many of the total games sold that they were responsible for back in like 2007. The number is much higher now. And yet your "safer bet" is based on the FALSE assumption that "30%" is per game HAHAHAHAH. Wrong. The end.

Steam no longer leaves January 1st 2013 as the default birthdate when doing age verification for me, every time I verify it always has my real birthdate on it.

a $60 game is usually $60 on steam,

 

there's no way in hell a game from a publisher like EA, Activision, Rockstar, Ubisoft, etc will shave a cent off their pricetags on any platform.

 

Some of the more mellow publishers like Deep Silver and Valve, will offer preorder discounts, previous customer discounts *like Own Saints Row 3? get $5 off SRIV*, And some games are just downright cheaper. some have $45-50 pricetages instead of 60-70
