PC Version of GTA V Discussion

It will come to PC. The only question is "Will it be sooner than usually?"

 

FYI, like new forum.

 

As I said earlier, highly doubtful, if R* planned on releasing a PC version just a little bit after the consoles they would've told us there is one in development, right now we don't know if there is a pc version in development or if they'll start working on it only after the console versions are released

What could this mean? It clearly looks like the XYZ axis system seen in all 3D software. I don't mean PC version is confirmed with this, I just want to ask if developer's kits in consoles have this kind of software/tools or this proofs that at least some (if not all) screens are rendered in PC and not taken from console hardware.

 

If this is screen is taken using a PC, it would give brian some strong credibility.

I don't think you understand how business works. Rockstar aren't mentioning the PC platform because that would drive some people to cancel their console pre-orders and just get a PC version, they know that the average GTA fan would want to get it asap, which is for consoles first, then buy a 2nd time for their favorite platform, which is PC.

 

Meaning more $$$ for Rockstar. It's just a dirty scheme of theirs, then they blame it on the architecture for delaying GTA. This won't work next gen.

Thats why i say gta v will never come to pc.they are in confusion whether to release the game for pc early or not.they think releasing the game early for pc affect console sales but they also think that releasing the game in march,april or may will make pc gamers lose interest in the game.so they think the best option is not to release the game for pc ever.

Learn this, you ane everyone else around here and I'm sure I'm right on this one. Rockstar been testing around for too long, they found out RAGE could ran on PC but needed a lot of work before they did the same mistake that they did with GTA IV. They launched RDR as a prototype for a new IP, but sisnce their knowledge on RAGE wasn't enought they didn't bother portting it. For two reasons, the first was that the game would be as bad as GTA IV and would be limited to a few people hardware, the second reason a Western title would be a risky bet, open world everyone like, westerns, not really, the same goes for old war games not everyone likes them and if you dig a bit you'll find the best sales for COD were the Modern Warfare, the old Cods weren't as popular, reason why they changed to the BO, that had old war but modern tech at the same time.

 

Anyway that was the reason behind RDR, they didn't had enough knowledge yet to make a decent game and an investment in such a short time would be a mistake, they ould have to use the excuse of the "this isa game to play in future computers" again. And of course it was a R* San Diego title but if it had potential they would have done it.

 

They waited 5 years to learn and tweak RAGE the best they could, and they nailed it with Max Payne 3, they found out how RAGE could be used correctly in a majority of machines, exactly the same as a console, for consoles they have to tweak it right to work, for PC they need the same thng but for a lot of different configs.

 

So with what they've learned they know how exactly to do things and take the most advatadge of them. By creating a Maxed out game with best assets possibe they can tweak it to feat in any system and that means Make it Higher and then lower it an dnot what they did with IV, that was make it low and then increase it.

 

By the footage we're given so far, I know most of teh tings aren't achievable with current gen hardware, it's not possible with the old API. Also the ones taht are possible can't be handled by the hardware in such a huge scale. WQith GTA IB we always saw a game that was what could be expected for that hardware, with V we've seen a huge difference between assets. I mean you can't show some good, then bad, then good again, then lowered again... even in development thatd oesn't make sense.

 

I am sure the game is being made since the beggining, same way MP3 was is the only way to do it right and with an online mode like this, it is turned completly to PC gaming and even new gen consoles, it is the perfect feat for all of them and a way to keep making money for the next 5 years when the next GTA will be out. Don't get fooled, GTA V is a next gen title in terms of content, the only part thatd oesn't make it like so for current gen is the graphics, otherwise t is a "Next Gen" title like MP3 was.

 

I've said plenty of times we've been playing Next Gen titles for 5 years now, but some peopel think that means a huge leap... believe me it won't it will be the same as now with better processing, physics and post processing and ina bigger scale since the current gen is still limited by XBOX360 media size.

 

I really don't care what people think about sales and how it will damage console sales, after 2 months 3 tops... the sales on console die, there wil be people playing in online but the sales will be very low. And by then the PC will be out to keep the money flow, and because online PC gaming isn't possible with pirated copies, something thatd oesn't happen in currnet gen consoles, people will buy the game just for it. I said this more then half a year ago when I said how Rockstar couldnt solve the piracy problem and they did it... and you'll see how it will turn out to them.

 

Currently Free2Play games are some of the most crowded in the internet, and with microtransitions people spend way over 1500€ in a couple months if they want too, if Rockstar does that the money will flow in huge ammounts.

 

Take a look to a game like APB for example, its similar to GTA but not even close to it. Although and even with people fed of how they do things they keep releasing more and more items and people spend money on them, they sell a special car for 50 bucks, a gun for a few days for 5, 20, 30... and they are loaded with money and don't stop.

 

I was part fo the management of a game, called drift city and the game wasn't anything like GTA but it was like a gold mine. So don't get fooled, Rockstar knows what their doing reason why they need to put out the current gen version, and won't take long after that to announce the other versions.

You're saying that screen is from the PC? Are you stupid? It's from the consoles. Look at the textures. Also, everyone is BULLsh*tTING about that 3d software sign, it's just an excuses to cover up their sad emotion about the PC release.

 

On a serious note, it is from the console and it is possible to use those tools on the PS3.

Not really. All games are made using PCs. But that doesn't make them PC games. It's the console version that's being worked on using the PC. Like this:

 

 

 

That's what brian doesn't seem to understand. Even if they take the screenshots from the PC, they're not screenshots of the PC version of the game. They are screenshots from the console version, that may or may not have been enhanced to look better than the actual game.

This is the debug version of the game. It's just like the trainers we have on PC, only thing is that they are built in this version. It helps navigate the map quickly and spawn stuff for testing purposes.

It took them five years almost to optimize RAGE, once an engine is optimized, it is optimized, when you create a new title, you tweak the current engine.

even if a PC version only sells 3 million compared to a console's 12. it's enough to make a profit off the porting costs, and that's all business cares about

Max Payne is NOTHING compared to GTA. NOTHING (I love MP btw), not even in the same universe. Max Payne is like the N64 while GTA is a NASA super computer.

 

Max Payne is a much much much much smaller market than GTA. I mean, if it was anywhere close, why were the preorers not even close? That is because you're just that stupid, that is why.

With what we know now about GTA V's features and the fact it was planned for a console release in spring 2013, I see only one reason why Max Payne 3 PC was released 1 month after the console release:

Rockstar wanted the PC test period to be as long as possible.

Because that's what Max Payne 3 basically is, a 100 million dollar game to test all the features GTA V has. Bullet time, weapon load-out, weapon management, fluid character movement and Social Club integration, it's all there. And the PC version got full DX11 support, auto-patcher and anti-cheat features.

I wouldn't be surprised if Max Payne 3 is a launchtitle for the next-gen consoles so they can test it on those too.
