Trails on or Off?

For III, I keep them on. For VC, I turn them off.

VC doesn't have a trails option on PC, about PS2, I dunno.

On PS2 it does have a Trails option.

You can restore it in VC on PC by using this program.

Now that's something new for me.

If you play on PC and want the true III experince, I reccomend getting/doing:

1. A PS3 controller.

2. Motion In Joy.

3. III (lol)

4. Put in your PS3 controller into your computer via USB Cord.

5. Then turn on motion in Joy.

6. Then go on google and type in "Motion in Joy GTA settings"

7. Go to motioninjoy "profiles"

8. Put in the same settings as the motion in joy settings photo.

9. Name your settings something like "GTA SA/VC/III", I have mine named this.

10. Click enable.

11. Run III

12. Go into the controls settings, and change it from standard to "classic"

13. Put in the corrosponding settings you want. "Like clicking accelrate with your mouse in the change controls setting, then clicking X on your controller will make X the accelerator."

14. Turn on trails.

15. You are finished! smile.gif

Here's the difference in graphics with Trails on/off (screenshots taken from Steam):

1. Trails ON vs. Trails OFF

2. Trails ON vs. Trails OFF

As you can see, with trails OFF, the colors appear more washed out.

I think I prefer it this way though - it has a nostalgic blue tinge to it.

Also the opening cut scene is so much better when it's OFF. The motion blur is terrible...

On, like all the others said, it creates a green/blue tint (depending on the weather) that really adds to the atmosphere.

Trails also looks better on the PC version of Vice City than on PS2.

Doesn't off (trails off) create thee green/blue tint?

*confused

you can have whatever color tint on the screen only via timecycle editing. just edit the last "000 000 000 000" in every line. First three "000" is for RGB color tinting. And the rest is for motion blur value. (This will only effect when you play without trails on.

btw, trails option only corrects the gamma level of the display. nothing more.

No I think it definitely affects motion blur.

Watch the opening scene with trails on and then off and you'll see the difference.

I play GTA3 with Trails enabled on PS2 and PC, is just a fantastic thing the touch of nostalgia that the Trails effect does to the game in my opinion. The same thing and way better in Vice City. So, yeah, I play with them enabled.

Simple question do you play GTA III with Trails on or off?

there is a simple solution, Use sharptrails mod, it keeps that blue tint of gta 3 while removing that irritating trail effect, the best part about sharptrails on gta 3 is that it has 0 bugs, on vice city there are a few bugs with sharp trails like flickering etc

oh yah i forgot to mention i use skygfx aswell so it makes trails look a lot more fitting than turning it on with the pc sky. thats probably why people hate trails since it doesn't fit so well on pc
