Trails on or Off?

" For some reason, trails do not define the game being GTA III or not.

I, somehow, played GTA III for 2.5 years and never used trails. Still, I had that feel... So..."

Man, I'm not telling anything about your opinion. But yes, my opinion is weird.

You can play like you want. There is option in the game to power it on or leave it off. Trails are just so personal to me. I like this dark atmosphere. Maybe, it is beacuse I waited for the game to be like this.

What I meant is that 'Trails Off' option still leaves GTA III to be GTA III, not like you said. That's all.

I didn't mean anything more than that at all. Sorry for any misunderstanding I may have caused you...

I have played it like 5 years with the trails. Now I turned them off.

Why? Because it seemed to me like it was lagging and all of that. I absolutely agree that it ruins the graphics a little bit.

But if you are looking for the real experience of GTA III, I recommend you to turn them on.

I turned that off, because I wanted to get a much cleaner visuals...

Just out of pure interest, played GTA III on PS2 with Trails today...

And I have to say, the effect is much better than it is on PC (don't know about Xbox). It seems that with bleak colors of PC, Trails have become something less than they were on PS2.

So definitely Trails Off when I play a PC version of GTA III. On PS2, I can as well leave them on - it only makes the experience better.

P.S. Thanks to Physicalfire and OnePiece for motivating me to try Trails On on PS2.

The same colors can be achieved with the ps2 particle.cfg and timecyc.dat

It also helps to adjust your monitor colgate.gif

My monitor has the best performance selected. If I try to adjust it for the PC GTA games to be PS2-like, then, I fear, everything else is going to go nuts.

Speaking off-topic: is there anywhere here on the Forums I can find PS2 particle.cfg and timecyc.dat for PC? Maybe someone was on it? And still, how is this going to affect the color depth of the game, with it being bleak even despite my monitor has a 32-bit color depth selected?

From what I understand, Rockstar has always changed the timecyc for PC versions to give them more realistic colors. Same thing happened with IV. Anyway, I'll send you the files in a few days or so. Only joking. tounge.gif

Only joking.  tounge.gif

You really confused me... What exact part were you joking about???

"In a few days or so".

See my signature to understand.

I see what you did here.

OT: I think the game has better atmosphere with trails "on", but my eyes actually hurt when playing with trails "on". Well of course that was 3 years ago so I dunno what effect would it have on me. So I have to go with the "off" option. It also gives me more fps (yeah my PC sucks diarrhea covered with sh*t)
