How can you say it will be? Trailers never reveal who the protagonist is, 'cause there will be lots to show in a trailer. It enables the viewers to make a guess on who it MIGHT be.

He obviously works for R* or has a parent/friend/uncle/grandmother/dog that does.

How? Multiple protagonists will never be awesome. Playing as two characters? It will make the game soul-less.

Remeber SA? No one who has played the game will ever forget Carl "CJ" Johnson. That's what a soul is. You tend not to lose your focus on that character. Controlling multiple characters would ruin that experience for me. One might be in big trouble while the other is rich. Just no!

That's exactly how I looked at it when I first started hearing multiple protag rumours. But after thinking about it for a while, I realized R* is IMO the best storytellers in all of gaming. They create memorable characters that make a lasting impression on you, and make you want to see how his story plays out. I'm sure they could accomplish that with multiple protags. If anyone could make it work, it'd be R*. Now it doesn't matter to me how many protags there are, I'm sure V will be legendary regardless.

I have mixed feelings about multiple protagonists. I personally like to get connected to the main protagonist in the GTA series. But, I feel that if Rockstar were to implement multiple, they would do it to perfection, so that all the players would have a great experience.

The thing is, it can be handled in two ways.

1- You just choose from several protagonists and finish the campaign

2- You play some missions as guy 1, and then some mission as guy 2, and so on.

The thing is...if it's 1, it can't be the exact same story. Cause no way can Ned Luke's story be the same as any of the others. Can't wait to finally find this out, i'm really expecting the cover story to give a full explanation.

if it is multiple protagonists, I'd hate it to be the 2nd option. I think it would just break the immersion.

Yeah I hope it's Number 1, go though the story you want when you want each one is seprate but crosses over and tells a piece of the bigger story that is the events going on in the Los Santos area. Hear of things one Protag is going mission wise in one and visa versa, they could cross over and all that for some missions it could be intresting.

Pretty much, just more crossover sections/mentions of the other Protag(s) since it will be the main point of the game. Well not main point but one of the bigger focuses on this installment.

I get what you mean, it'd be the best way to have multiple protagonists, that way they get to tell a number of stories from the same number of point of views, it could add a hell of a lot of depth to the map and story.

Is it against the rules to have a signature/avatar based of a screen from the magazine??? Im getting the digital copy and I have a feeling the eye candy will be impossible to keep from making as an avatar or sig

I really don't see why not to be honest. People take stuff from movies all the time and put them in their sig. Should be the same case with a magazine.

I doubt it. I can't speak for GTAnet in particular, but I can speak for fansites in general.

Rockstar and GI will be more worried about full scans of the article coming to light so they usually don't care about the screens and artworks as long as the text isn't next to them and you reference them appropriately, etc. Even still, the won't care about one members signature or avatar, if anything, the only place they'll check is where the news gets posted on the GTAV.net homepage to make sure the admins/news posters are being legit.

The screens will be all over the internet quickly, especially seeing as everything is digital now and just a print-screen away from being saved on a computer.

Yep that's what I was thinking of. If this was the way multi protags were done I'd welcome it, it also IMO seems like the most likely way to go about it.

About the sig thing I don't know why not, I mean people have sigs with immages from Movies, games (like mine) and other material so I do see why a magazine would be any diffrent.

I think Trailer 2 will be coming close to the GI preview. I mean, what, are we supposed to have more than a year between trailers now? The GI issue and trailer together will launch the next phase of marketing, something more regular that doesn't go dark for weeks/months. To fill time they can release stuff like the Bean Machine update we got about GTA IV, stuff from the world that's in addition to what you experience in the game rather than revealing what you experience in the game.

I am sure that kind of usage is legal under fair use.

On the other hand, if GI wanted to be like the RIAA, they would have 100 high powered Washington lawyers and their army of paralegals, with software already queued up to blast out tens of thousands of digital lawsuits for $100K each to every account that might have copied more than 100 pixels from an image in the article.... smile.gif

Not to worry.

He obviously works for R* or has a parent/friend/uncle/grandmother/dog that does.

The dogs who work for Rockstar successfully lobbied for dogs in the game this time around. They all took turns at beta testing the dog missions, and suggested a bunch of constructive changes for dog gameplay biggrin.gif aarf!! aarf!!

Who else think it's sad that, that sh*tty leak completely overshadowed Game Informer's December cover? On this forum i mean, Yes, i know it's real, most likely, but still, i think it's really weird that most people are more interested in finding out if that leak is real or not than the actual info we're about to get in the next few days, it's really sad in a way. confused.gif

I agree. The whole reason I came back to the GTA forums on 25 October 2011 is because I expected a glorious 8 to 10 months discussing a healthy flow of GTAV publicity in that interval, a marketing onslaught worthy of Rockstar's biggest game ever, leading up to a climactic game release.

Instead, after the GTAV Trailer, they screwed us in the ass and left us in the ditch, and made millions of fans so desperate and frustrated that events like this "leak" or the goddamn epsilon tweets generate hundreds of pages of screaming, miserable noise.

I agree, it is sad. And unnecessary, if Rockstar marketing would have done their job.

You people are impatient brats. This it not something new. L.A Noire had it's first trailer in 2006, and released in 2011. Why are you so puzzled by this?

Did you wan't new screenshots every week? or why is that people are so puzzled that R* can't release new stuff all the time?

Man, I can't abide by this, I'm sorry. To me it just sounds like you're butthurt over the fact that you assumed Rockstar's marketing would have started with the first trailer, when really that was never going to be the case. Judging by the date you joined this forum, you came here when IV was announced. How did you feel back then? Do you remember 2006 when we got an announcement and didn't get a trailer until 10 months later, yet at the end of the day Rockstar's marketing still did their job by advertising the game before it's release.

I'm really sorry you feel this way, but blaming Rockstar's marketing, even after they announced that the info will begin to flow next week, is just damn strange.

Who else has lost interest? Knowing the release date is Spring 2013, and still the possibility of delays from after that, I feel like I can put it to the back of my mind and just check but in January-February if the Rockstar website has made any movements. I feel like it's a waste of time hanging around here now... except ofcourse for the GI article... but after that I'll probably lose interest again pretty easy. I guess the wait will be easier than I thought.

This is me fading away now...

And yes, I know how you feel. I've said pretty much echoed what you said in your post the whole time; but it's not worth it anymore, you can't win! Especially now that we're so close to seeing more [official] assets and proper information on the game.

I see a lot of peeps on here are saying Rockstar have failed with this marketing campaign for gta v, but if you ask me they know exactly what they are doing. Why do you think everyone on this forum is going crazy over some leaked artwork? If we had leaked artwork for almost any other game nobody would take notice, but this is gta v, the same gta v that everybody has waited patiently for more info for a year now from that original trailer. If you ask me Rockstar has got the hype up to maximum levels for this game with a lack of, well, pretty much anything for a year.

Lol they haven't failed.

It's out of Rockstar's control now. Once you start shipping promotional stuff to retailers it's more likely to be leaked. I don't feel spoiled in anyway. It's got me really excited again. Dogs>Quads>Female police>Cactuses...f*ck yeah!

And it confirms a spring 2013 release. Majority of people already were guessing that. It'll be out between March and June biggrin.gif

We still have the GI issue, trailer 2, official box art, exact release date and loads of other stuff to look forward to in the marketing campaign! biggrin.gif

Just think...within the next 4-7 months we'll be FINALLY playing GTA V biggrin.gif
