Versous
Now, this game is about racing only, so the map has to be big and I don't know how big it truly is cause this is just a demo, but I think the feeling of driving in a vast world is pretty good in this game. Just look at the draw distance, it's pretty imressive. I really hope that GTA V will offer a similar feel. I didn't feel to play a very big Open world game with RDR(It's still one of my favorite games storywise!)as I already meantioned earlier this year. So yeah I hope GTA V will be significantly bigger than RDR and that they'll be able to capture the feel of forza Horizon. I Shot The Sheriff
+1, draw distance is even more important than texturing to make the map feel big.
simonp92
I don't get it. I see a game which feels nothing like GTA. Yes there will be a country side, but I don't think a racing game is a good indication of how a country side could be done.

Sorry it's not true. basically it isn't open world, because you're restricted to the roads. So you can drive everywhere you want as long you're on the roads. lefantome
Test Drive Unlimited is completely free roam and in the second one you have ibiza and ohau almost as big like their real life countrpart. When you drive from one city to another in those game, you really drive. it's a shame Test Drive Unlimited had such crappy physics, the cars were way too easy to drive. if the countryside driving in V feels anything like it does in TDU then I'll be pleased. I don't mean the physics, just the way the miles fly by without you noticing.
AtomicPunk
Forza has the most realistic cockpit view of any game---it's absolutely incredible! I agree that R* needs to have a draw-distance like that too, very impressive.

rare.steak
Here's one for California. I really love the scale of racing sim games. I wonder if we could get that kind of scale in next-gen GTAs. That's as realistic as it gets. V will fall far short of a realistic scale even though it already is impressive, but still..
Freezer89
Amazing game, however, it is NOT an open world game. Yes, but this one is: A comparison: The map size of FUEL is over 14 000 square kilometers (~5500 square miles) while the one for Just Cause is "only" like 1000 km² (400 mi²). Therefore the map is about 14x larger. It's insanely big. The problem is just that it's way too big and was one of the main reasons why the game failed. PS: San Andreas is 30x smaller than JC2 Edited October 11, 2012 by Freezer89
gtafanny
I feel a little driver fatigue. All this driving doesn't make the game much fun. They have got to get the right balance of size and environment diversity. Otherwise playing GTA will make me feel like I just went on an extremely long driving trip. cercata
It's much easier to make a bigger draw distance in a driving game, since you never aproach the objects, the models are much less detailed, you can rely more on textures. But in GTA, you can get to some inchs ob tje objects, so they must be more realistic. YOU CAN'T COMPARE !!!!
Kifflom112
Amazing game, however, it is NOT an open world game. False, you can go ANYWHERE you want, but you can't like drive through a forest or any of that crap. I've already pre-ordered this game. It's set in Colorado, so I don't think V will really feel exactly the same, but I wouldn't mind it. Wish V could have Horizon's draw distance. @Cerceta, most landforms that you can see, you can get quite close to them compared to other racing games. It actually amazes me. How do they detail all of the trees and everything and you can still see it like 2 miles away pretty clear?
