mkey82
Related thread http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=526958 For your consideration, it would be real nice if the person who locked the thread left some comment to effect so that the last person who posted there doesn't catch the bullsh*t shrapnel coming from semi-literate imbeciles. Thanks you for your time.
Girish
I was the one who locked the topic. Since you guys had already told him what needed to be told, I didn't bother posting the same thing again. In cases like these, you can just point him in the direction of any staff member and we'll handle it. Replying to him with anything other than that doesn't always help. mkey82
This one in the end turned out to be ok. But I stick to my previous comment, please sign your ocks.
Vanzant
We do actually sign our Locks. We fill out a "Locked Thread Identification Form" or simply what we refer to it as a 01WW form and send it to the Administrators command box. From there it is reviewed and we have daily meetings. rejtély3mr
Guest
We do actually sign our Locks. We fill out a "Locked Thread Identification Form" or simply what we refer to it as a 01WW form and send it to the Administrators command box. From there it is reviewed and we have daily meetings. By "sign your locks" I'm sure he means that he wants the forum staff to post that they locked the thread as it is being locked. It could be because people are confusing him for forum staff, as the usual case is "The most recent poster locked the thread"
Vanzant
Yeah and? Let me explain it simply. It doesn't matter who locked a topic. Threads are shut down due to spam or being useless in that section. It's that simple. The area mods are shown for each section so if there any questions about a specific thread PM a staff member. Feel free to PM me and ask me anything about a locked topic. I can point out any issues if you or anyone else does not comprehend them.
mkey82
Yeah and? Dear lord, you mush be joking. Let me explain it simply. It doesn't matter who locked a topic. Yes, it does. The area mods are shown for each section so if there any questions about a specific thread PM a staff member. Feel free to PM me and ask me anything about a locked topic. People do not read. They do not check pinned topic, they do not read the big bold information on the top of the page, they do not check who's the mod, admin or whatever. It's that simple. They see the last person who posted in their offending topic and, at times, they decide to give them sh*t. I can point out any issues if you or anyone else does not comprehend them. You are the only person in this thread who does not comprehend the issue at hand so pretty please adjust your attitude. 1. The user posts something that breaks the rules 2. I post something that should point them in the right direction (with a possible snide remark which is a byproduct of lack of faith into HI, being the human intelligence) 3. The mod comes along and locks the thread, without posting anything 4. The user gets the urge to PM and grief me Do you understand the issue now? I have color coded it this time around. I also apologize for not being 100% clear when I said For your consideration, it would be real nice if the person who locked the thread left some comment to effect so that the last person who posted there doesn't catch the bullsh*t shrapnel coming from semi-literate imbeciles. What I wanted to say was: It would be real nice if the person who locked the thread left some comment to effect so that the last person who posted there doesn't get grief from the offending user. SMG
On another forum that I visit, the Mods always make the final post in a topic, even if it is a simple "Thread closed" as to not confuse the person who had their topic locked that the last person to post in the topic is a Mod. He obviously thought you were a Mod because you made the last post. GTAForums unfortunately seems to attract a lot of children onto it and that is why there are so many "BUSTED" users who don't want to play by the rules, as if doing what you want in GTA applies on GTA Forums as well. Shame really.
mkey82
Yes, of course. But the problem is not the age, it's this goddamn era of short attention span and lack of patience.
Algonquin Assassin
To be honest with the amount of threads I lock in the GTA V forum sometimes I lock without posting, but that usually comes down to being annoyed locking sh*t over and over again. I do my best to post something though. I understand that it can get frustrating being accused for something you didn't do, but with the GTA V forum in particular I think most of us just get sick of it at times. EDIT: I realize this wasn't in the GTA V forum. Personally I wouldn't have responded at all. Edited October 30, 2012 by Miamivicecity
mkey82
Well, generally, on the more crowded boards, I wouldn't have anything against that type of thinking. But on the low volume forums, like the troubleshooting section, where there's only a few replies on the thread, some kind of comment should be warranted when locking the topic.
