APB's "last.fm technology"

Wouldn't it be awesome if GTA V had APB's "last.fm technology"?

 

For those unaware, the game was connected to last.fm, so if I played some Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys, Editors etc (imported into the game) and drove past someone in multiplayer, they would hear the same song, or last.fm would try to identify something similar.

 

I can imagine some friends and I on "sh*t patrol".

We'd set up at the side of a busy road, wait for some moron listening to sh*tty music (won't name names as some will get offended, but the brighter ones will know what I'm on about) to drive by, then commence chase.

 

It'd give some more reasons to kill eachother, right?

 

note for the mods: i'd prefer not to be directed to the wishlist as I'd like to see people's views and opinions on this, as the wishlist is the equivalent to throwing your idea into a cesspit of dog sh*t with the occasional bright idea, while there's a bunch of people behind you wanting to throw their wants in, and the end result is everything behind ignored.

It's more about the environment, though. It'd be dead immersive to hear people playing their music from cars, rather than it being really silent.

That would be nice, but it wont happen. Gta can only play licensed tracks. Doing that would result in more licensing costs. Plus that would be a dissapointment for ppl who dont have internet. Ps3 players may love it, but xbox live users wouldnt if they lack a gold membership.

 

But main reason i dont like this concept is rel-world ads. Annoying.

I just hope that in V we can listen to our own songs on the Ipod, Iphone, mp3 etc. I think they had it on GTAIV for PC, so HOPEFULLY they'll transfer that to Xbox 360. It seems unlikely, but it could be slightly possible!

I'm sure that if the devs of APB can afford the last.fm system, then R* could easily get that. And you won't get real world ads.

 

ALL that happens is you import your track from your PS3/PC/360, and then when you play it, last.fm will recognise the song and have other people hear it, and if it doesn't have the song on the last.fm database, it plays a song by the same artist or in a similar genre.

 

This would be added to the original GTA V soundtrack, because let's admit it, the soundtracks are great but you will at some point get bored of them in the long amount of time you'll be playing the game.

I never gave a damn care about APB even though it was F2P but it was still catching my eye on Steam (You just can't resist the Steam Summer sale) but still never played by just seeing the rating.

Well when put like that then yes, that sounds awesome. Gives us the chance to discover new music you may like, or as stated by op, give the chance to smear the queer.

I stopped playing APB for a few months now so I think this wasn't in the game yet, although there was something that would be cool to have, something similar to this but not with any particular service. It was the hability of using in game your own MP3, but that they could be heard by all in the game.

 

When you get a car, you can switch the radio to MP3's and use the music in your HDD, whoever is near you if they have the option enabled they will also hear same as you, same way for everyone else.

 

It was cool in APB during missions and having some "action movie" tracks or music like Two Steps from hell or something and using it during shootouts or pursuits, it was like a movie.

 

It was also cool during a mission blow up your opponent car and finish their music. ah ah

also with the in-game radio you can hear the station another player is on, it's just not synced. so if you stand outside their car you could hear the same station they're on.

but, yes, I get that you mean custom tracks.

1.It won't annoy people. If they don't like the other person's music, they kill them or drive away.

Oh and btw, before your jump on your high horse, I do actually think its a good idea. Personal music ingame is always something that's a huge plus! Shared across online players, is even better.

Well I wouldn't mind if it was like I said, not the last fm thing but able to hear what others are, but in APB there is also an option you can disable that. So for those feeling offended they could disable it and get the game radios or nothing.

 

Personally I would love to blow others radios aka explode their cars.
