AuSsIeThUnDeR36
So I was playing San Andreas tonight and it got me thinking. San Andreas is great because the way the missions are set out. In San Andreas it forces you to visit the entire map to complete the story. Start > Los Santos > countryside > San Fierro > Desert > Las Venturas > finishing in Los Santos So if GTA V follows in San Andreas footsteps we could have a similar mission line up, forcing us to visit locations across the entire map eg Start > Los Santos > countryside > San Diego??? > desert > finishing in Los Santos. It would be like a revisit of all those places we love and including lots of new locations obviously. I think it would be boring to have all the missions in Los Santos only. It would defeat the purpose of having the surrounding countryside there in the first place. What do you think?
TheD94
Isn't it already a standard in every GTA game? But I know a part of map which wasn't used at all by story. Bayside - San Andreas (where boatschool is).
AuSsIeThUnDeR36
Isn't it already a standard in every GTA game? But I know a part of map which wasn't used at all by story. Bayside - San Andreas (where boatschool is). I believe there was a BETA mission deleted by Rockstar that involved Bayside. It was called 'The Truth Is Out There' you had to steal a heli and fly to Bayside and then escort Truth in the hippie van all the way back to Verdant Meadows with FBI trucks waiting on corners to destroy the van. It was a long mission and it didn't really fit into the story
TheD94
AuSsIeThUnDeR36, I know that mission. I made a popular video about it. It was deleted because it had no sense. Shame. They could have improved it instead of removing it. Damn, sorry for off-topic. As I said, it's 100% sure that you will be forced to drive all over the map for missions. Maybe missions will be removed and some places will be "optional".
Cuzzzin
Getting back to the actual topic, what's special about San Andreas isn't that it forces you to visit all of the map. GTA IV does as well. What's special about San Andreas is that it's exciting when you visit new places. They're tied to CJ's story arc and your progression through the game. The only time I got the same excitement in GTA IV was when Niko had to leave Broker, but that doesn't even involve you visiting a new island at all. Alderny and Algonquin never really have any sense of fanfare. You can just go to the them. They don't really offer anything new to the player and their introduction seems arbitrary. Rauland
they should leave some areas for exploring though.

In term of 'excitement' from map progresion NOTHING will beat the first time I saw 'Welcome to Staunton Island'. However, waking up in the Badlands near Angel Pine comes very close. It was a real surprise and a great twist. Niko's story of fleeing to Bohan was quite good - but the progression to Algonquin and then Alderney had no real significance. Barring Vice City and including RDR, Rockstar usually have three distinct areas of the map. I would assume In GTA V it would be: Los Santos > Countryside > ? I Shot The Sheriff
All the parts of the map will have missions in them, it'd be extremely dumb making a large map and then not using it, but as we don't know the parts and setup, one may just guess. And my guess is, by order: Los Santos, countryside, desert, and mountains. But then again LS has different parts (beaches, docks, downtown, the suburbs, the hills), and so do the others, so that divides into many possibilities.
