Sup3rman
Nice one... 10 km/h more than the speed of sound and the highest jump.

Crokey
What. A. Landing.!! That was like watching Neil Armstrong land on the moon... if I had been alive at that point. I suspect we'll be seeing the helmet cams etc over the next few hours/days. I'd love to see that in full on 1080HD
GreatGig
It probably wasn't possible to transmit a streaming video while falling faster than the speed of sound. It'll have been saved on some HD on the suit or something. On the camera info section on the site it has this: The suit cameras must function in near-space conditions for up to 20 minutes, as well as at supersonic speed and in any orientation (upside-down, sideways, etc.) It then adds that everything is being saved on to a hard drive. My guess is either something didn't go as planned with the live cameras or they're just saving the footage for later.

King Of Monra
Nice one... 10 km/h more than the speed of sound and the highest jump. Almost feel sorry for him that he took out the parachute too early, so he didn't get the freefall record. And did he break the sound barrier? I heard he didn't. K^2
anyone else rendered speechless from that? Only the exit bit. The outboard camera did not do justice to what it looked like outside. When that hatch rolled to the side, and showed the horizon that split the world clean into Earth and space, that was the most amazing high altitude shot I've ever seen. And then, of course, there is the jump itself. Stepping out into that cold vacuum and taking the plunge. Sound travels at 1160km/h. He did 1171km/h by those numbers shown live. So that is over the speed of sound.

I wanted to punch his teeth in. Obviously in an alternate timeline he broke the speed of light and travelled back in time to 1947, and that's how we got the Roswell incident. HOAXi
Most amazing thing I've been alive for. Seriously. Second only to the moon landings surely. What's happening on Mars and with Voyager 1 and 2 is more important than this but yes it might give some scientific answers.

I hope he did break it though, insane stuff anyway!
Crokey
We'll need to wait until the data from his suit has been verified before we know for sure if he broke the sound barrier. Hope he has, or else he'll have to do that again.

Love that I'm still amazed by how fast he turns into a little dot not long after he does the most casual fall in history. Even if he didn't break that free fall record, he's definitely broken the one for manliest man on Earth.

Things start to look smaller very rapidly as you move away from one of these. Otherwise, it's an ordinary jump. The first 4-5 seconds of a stratosphere jump are no different than the same of a base jump. You need to pick up some speed for atmosphere to start making a difference. AndyGanteks
Bah, i wish one day i could do something like this, it doesn't matter if i brake anything(records i mean, not bones ) but i'd f*cking love to ever get a chance to do something like this or similar in my lifetime. HOAXi
According to the live gauges it showed 1173 km/h (the record from 1960 is 988 km/h). We will not know if the live gauges were correct until all recorded data has been analysed, which they say will take several days. A press conference will be held soon. Taste Of Chaos
He appeared to be tumbling out of control at one point, was that part of it? Well done to the guy though! Perfect landing.
