Ryder15
The Mission Successful! Altitude: 128,097 ftDuration of freefall: 4:19 Total jump time: 9:03 Speed: 1137 kmh The live Feed Official facebook: http://www.facebook.com/redbullstratos Official Website: http://www.redbullstratos.com/ Live Stream 1: http://www.redbullstratos.com/live/ Live Stream 2: http://vurbmoto.com/theatre/red-bull-stratos-live/11307/ About Red Bull Stratos, a mission to the edge of space, will attempt to transcend human limits that have existed for 50 years. Supported by a team of experts Felix Baumgartner plans to ascend to 120,000 feet in a stratospheric balloon and make a freefall jump rushing toward earth at supersonic speeds before parachuting to the ground. His attempt to dare atmospheric limits holds the potential to provide valuable medical and scientific research data for future pioneers. The Red Bull Stratos team brings together the world's leading minds in aerospace medicine, engineering, pressure suit development, capsule creation and balloon fabrication. It includes retired United States Air Force Colonel Joseph Kittinger, who holds three of the records Felix will strive to break. Joe's record jump from 102,800 ft in 1960 was during a time when no one knew if a human could survive a jump from the edge of space. Joe was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force and had already taken a balloon to 97,000 feet in Project ManHigh and survived a drogue mishap during a jump from 76,400 feet in Excelsior I. The Excelsior III mission was his 33rd parachute jump. Although researching extremes was part of the program's goals, setting records wasn't the mission's purpose. Joe ascended in helium balloon launched from the back of a truck. He wore a pressurized suit on the way up in an open, unpressurized gondola. Scientific data captured from Joe's jump was shared with U.S. research personnel for development of the space program. Today Felix and his specialized team hope to take what was learned from Joe's jumps more than 50 years ago and press forward to test the edge of the human envelope. UPDATES UPDATE 1 the conditions are improving, there going to extend the take off window time, could still be a few hours away yet The balloon is 55 stories high, they need about an hour and a half + to set everything up Fingers crossed. if it is delayed it will be a day by day attempt. UPDATE 2 Balloon inflation has begun. Felix is in the capsule and the final countdown has begun Balloom Size FINAL UPDATE! Jump was successful, will upload official Video when i find it!! Breath taking, amazing! Edited October 14, 2012 by Ryder15

Creed Bratton
The only reason I'm interested in this is to see what happens to a human being after doing something like that. Breaking the sound barrier. Awesome. I honestly don't give a sh*t about the record breaking.

Robinski
Red Bull is the best company. When my ultra leftist, but ultimately dictatorial revolution disbands all capitalist institutions, Red Bull will be left intact but assimilated into the Ministry Of Doing Awesome sh*t For The Hell Of It. I've always loved Joe kittenger's story, and I've been following this guy on/off for a few years (I think it's years). Didn't he have a rival who didn't have any corporate sponsorship as well? Joes jump was supported by the military, it was a military Operation i think. either way, red bull have always had some crazy sh*t, I love watching the New year no limits sh*t they do, its unreal! i really hope the weather sorts out for Felix in the coming days, im so keen so see him jump! Breaking the sound barrier. Awesome. I honestly don't give a sh*t about the record breaking. Exactly, nobody has a clue as to what kind of things happen to the human body at that speed, for all we know his limbs could fly off or his head could explode. Obviously that's a bit far fetched but f*cked up things could happen.

na89340qv0n34b09q340
logos everywhere. sick of this red bull sh*t. Exactly, red bull probably has one of the most successful advertising campaigns of all time, all of the time. Somehow their logo manages to cover everything targeted at people between the ages of 13 and 25, and it's one of the most un-healthy drinks in the world. Robinski
At least they're interesting. I'd rather see a Red Bull logo slapped across the back of a guy with a rocket stuck his arse ready to jump the Grand Canyon than just plastered all over the wall opposite my house every day. Obviously that's a bit far fetched but f*cked up things could happen. It may be possible haha. That's what I most want to see as well (not exploding humans), people hitting a sonic boo. Apparently near Mach 1.89. I would love to see how the internal cameras catch the moment of the sonic boom, it is unknown yet. I'm f*cking psyched. For those of you who don't know, mission aborted due to weather. EDIT: I don't get how in the Balloon Comparison diagram in the OP it says that Red Bull's target altitude is 120,000, yet Felix will apparently do a 140,000 foot jump. GTA_stu
I honestly wasn't aware that Red Bull had anything to do with it and I've known about this thing for a while. I wonder what's going to happen when he breaks the sound barrier. I bet he sh*ts his pants, I bet he does. I know I would, I'd sh*t my pants something fierce. I'd sh*t my pants real good. I'd sh*t them like a mothaf*cking infant who can't control his bowels. They would be shat. S.H.A.T: shat.
