Degrees
*sigh* another user complaining about something that really doesn't matter. I seriously doubt "animal attacks" will be a problem. Unless you really suck or armed with just your fists. Though taking down a bear with your bare fists would be Godlike in itself.
Patrizio
To whoever it was who disliked the element of 'fear' when out in the wild (Tall Trees in particularly) in RDR - I completely disagree. I loved it - it kept you on your toes while out in the middle of nowhere - finger always on the trigger. Personally, I hope it returns in the wild, and even more-so, I hope it occurs in the city - particularly in the Ghetto. Suddenly having five guys jump while down an alley. Would definitely keep you on edge. Adds to the immersion and the replayability, imo.
TheD94
The forest shouldn't be so harmless as it was in GTA San Andreas without any animals. The only thing that might kill you in San Andreas wilderness was either a big fall from a cliff, own stupidity, hunger or a wild plane ! Animals should be in GTAV. They would add so much adventure, challenge and fun in the wilderness, and it won't feel so empty anymore.

ThisIsHorosho
i agree with opener completely, however i'd still like animals in GTAV to respond attacks (if there really will be any...) How? well...they might make it like that, you don't touch them - they don't attack, but when you start shooting, aggressive animals might fight back, while passive (like rabbits, deers etc...) just run away...this way R* could please both sides (at least thats what i believe in...) and you won't have to watch your back all the time, everytime you approach wildernesses... bowling...?
I want mountain lions. Animals make everything better. Without them in RDR, the game would sort of be sh*t.

Ana Belial
Weren't there only like, 4 bears in Tall Trees at any given time? But everytime I killed one, it would immediately respawn nearby and try to get revenge. I'd end up with about 20 dead bear carcasses all lying around me. HOAXi
Bears and gorillas in the city and a blue whale in your fish bowl. Sounds fun but that just won't happen. Horses are exclusive to Read Dead (within R* studios), otherwise there's no point making another RD. I could guess they've added dirtbikes, atv's, parachutes and hopefully skydiving to make up for no horses.

73duster
I couldn't disagree more with the OP. RDR was a masterpiece, and Rockstar's use of animals was amazing because it FELT just right. I didn't feel like there were TOO MANY animals attacking you all the time. Remember, RDR is based in a time when wild animals were more abundant. Today, you would find less animals because they have simply been hunted down to the point of extinction. Exploration is one of the KEY components of any GTA game, and if you don't WANT to climb mountains, search through cabins, or deal with animal attacks, perhaps you should simply avoid going into the wilderness period. OT: I think I know what the OP meant. It was really annoying in RDR to have coyotes and wolves to chase you down at every turn, especially at night. But the bears and cougars were fine though, normally they aren't around unless you were out looking for them.
TheShogunOfHarlem
Completely and totally DISAGREE with this entire thread. I loved that I had to watch my back and be ready for a potential attack. They just need to tone down respawns. Most games use (or abuse) infinite respawns to add challenge but its stupid if it isn't within some sort of practical logic. Most games don't do this and the biggest offender is Call of Duty.
73duster
I think people are forgetting that RDR is based in a time when wildlife was more abundant. There just aren't as many animals running around in the wilderness today, due to hunting, as well as expansion of the urban landscape. RDR was in the 1800's, and GTAV is in a modern setting. Hell, some of the animals in RDR are virtually extinct by now.
Above
I'd say it depends on the environment, there has to be areas without animal threats but there surely also have to be places where we would have to look out for bears, snakes etc. I'm fine with the way it worked in RDR. Durden
I'm quite apprehensive regarding animals being present in V. Not only will it generate quite a bit of controversy towards animal rights activists (which is the least of my worries), but it would be a piss-off to be casually exploring the forested areas of SA and then suddenly get your face chewn off by a grizzly bear. I'd be fine if they just include small, insignificant animals such as birds, rodents, and possibly even dogs/cats, but anything more would just be overkill and feel very out-of-place in a GTA. At THIS point in the video game world, i think we are well past the point of worrying about activists. GTA is not the only violent game anymore, and some can make the case that it isn't the most controversial either. As for animals, any animal rights activists missed the protest bus a long time ago with RDR. It would be quite foolish to say something now. I think that Nintendo put them in their place and PETA apologized or something. Idk.
