Deffpony
I know rockstar has a QA it does every so often but lets be honest, they pic the questions based on what they want to tell us. That got me thinking. What would it take to get rockstar to answer questions from the forum. If we as a community voted on a handful of questions based around V what would it take to get these questions presented to Rockstar. Could we lobby together and possibly influence a major gaming site like Ign to ask these questions on behalf of us. We obviously would need the support of someone or some organization that had substantial influence. Adriaan worked for ign right? I'm tired of magazine editors asking stupid open ended questions like "what makes GTA V so different" These forums are the best source for questions. "Why did they announce V so early before release?" , "How does the map compare to LC in terms of size?" So is it even possible to get a group of these questions from us, the hardcore fans, answered. And if so how. I would be more than willing to completely devote myself as I'm sure many others would, to making something like this happen. I want our questions presented, not the questions of some guy who knows nothing about the franchise.
Andreas
Hmm, that'd be a good idea. Well, yes, Adriaan worked for IGN so somebody can PM him. Eagle-Eye
Since Blue & Orange text makes me special. I don't think R* would have an interview with GTAForums. But its a possibility.
TheTerminatorNY
They won't answer tough questions like that, which is exactly why they would never agree to do a Q&A directly from the fans. The best we could get would be to create a thread where we all post our questions, and then Rockstar would select a number of questions they want to answer from that thread and then answer them. That's what some other developers/studios do.
Dragonjack
That would be a great idea actually and maybe Rockstar Games could possible been an alliance with GTAF someday? Hopefully that is..

Adriaan
Rockstar have done this in the past with this website and other fan sites. Fingers crossed they'll do it again. What I'm hoping for is that publications do an interview with Aaron Garbut (Art Director, R* North). Anyone remember interviews with him for previous GTAs? They were always enjoyable and very informative.

In the words of Toreno 'Nobody is watching anybody watching nobody' They probably do, it would be stupid to not have a few developers hanging around a forum about their best game The newswire guys probably check here everyday. mvega0422
Even if they did take questions from us, they would only pick 3 out of 10 and answer them. They would never be backed into a corner and forced to answer too tough a question.
Deffpony
@Adriaan Is there any way to make this happen other than sitting around and hoping @mvega0422 Well 3 out of 10 questions from us would be better than 20 questions from some COD fanboy editor We could definitely get at least 10 solid questions that arent too specific to the point where they wont answer them. It obviously wouldnt be until much later down the marketing road but I really think we should make an attempt at making this happen
Adriaan
Also, to the OP, I just want to state that Rockstar do care a lot about fan sites. I have seen this personally. You don't need to go through publications such as IGN to do what you said you want to do. What I can tell you is that I have sent this topic over to the appropriate person at Rockstar to take a look. While I certainly can't promise anything from my end, we can just hope that they do something again like this as they have before in 2004 for San Andreas. What I will say though is that the best thing to do is to send your questions through the already established channels like newswire comments (where appropriate), mouthoff and twitter. But I like the idea of somehow rounding up the best questions or coming up with technical means of voting on user submitted questions. This way, we can help filter through all the uninteresting and/or common questions like "Will there be Las Venturas?" as I expect they must get all the time. IsItFridayAlready
I'm surprised they haven't done an IAMA on reddit yet - it seems to be the done thing nowadays. I suppose the problem with that is the 'live' nature of the whole thing. From what I know, there's no way the Housers would let any information get out to the public without first being vetted by them.
Deffpony
@Adriaan: Thanks man. Like I said its obviously too soon to ask questions. We are at that point where Rockstar wont reveal anything unless its been maticulously predetermined. Not to mention we wouldnt want to ask questions that they intended on answering in time anyways. But voting on a group of questions to ask would not only be great for us fans, it would also benefit rockstar and these forums. Rockstar would get free exposure and have the chance to engage its consumers strictly based around V. These forums would gain a huge amount of exposure. Imagine Rockstar answered 8 questions about V on these forums. IGN would then do an article saying that Rockstar has answered questions on the largest GTA fansite/community and include a link to the forums. That would be great for traffic. CIA? NSA? @deffpony Yeah I was thinking of something like this for something unrelated recently. I saw an example before on Unity Answers: http://answers.unity3d.com/index.html?sort=votes The technology that they are using is by "Answer Hub". While it's not exactly what we want, the way it works is certainly spot on in that users submit questions and others can vote on it. Deffpony
While it would be taxing I really think that, in order to obtain the best questions, we would have a topic where people neatly list the questions they want answered. There is no limit to the amount of questions you post. As they come in I will write them all down and categorize them, such as map questions, story questions, and so on. Then we can pick the most abundant or frequented questions and place those in a top bracket. Then we can vote on which question from the most frequented list we would like to ask. This would be better because it would give everyone a chance to chime in before the questions we vote on are even considered. A question that no one thought of might come up by one user and after he brings it up everyone may agree and want that question asked as well. It will create a dynamic thread to determine the best questions as a community.
Johnny Playert
Great idea. But i would make sure to note that whatever you post there is coming from US, the GTAF. That way they should be less inclined to just completely ignore any critical question. And if i think about it, there's only one thing i would wanna know. 'Why oh why did you choose to treat your whole fanbase like complete fools by releasing a trailer so soon when there is no intention whatsoever to follow up with anything solid'. 'Please, R*, enlighten us. Did you really think ALL your other games where so successful on their own without the help of GTA's huge success over the years? If it wasn't for GTA no-one would even think of buying a GD western game. Or a bullying game.' 'Cheers!' fa**ots.
AtomicPunk
I have two questions: 1. Why would you give a time-frame, then not acknowledge it with anything, not even a "sorry but we're behind a little" statement or something and leave fans hanging? 2. How does it feel after creating the meme; 'In a few weeks or so', and do you think it has harmed your companies image? But I know questions like these will never get answered. Only the safe questions, that's exactly why no safe questions should be asked. They deserve to get some heat. Deffpony
Im not sure what your getting at with the whole US thing. I feel that we would need to be very slick with any questions regarding marketing since there is a great chance that they would ignore those all together if its too accusational.
