AuSsIeThUnDeR36
I'm on my tenth playthrough and I have finally seen it raining in the desert! Usually there are just sandstorms but this is the first time it's happened for me in the game it was awesome. Has this happened for you? I think this must be a very rare thing ingame
MrMateczko
What missions were available for you when this happened? Or you've completed all of them?
AuSsIeThUnDeR36
Just completed StowAway and I was cruising back to Verdant Meadows on the road to the left of Area 69 and just coming up to Verdant Meadows it started raining and thunder too! lil weasel
Over 85 games and never had rain. Only sandstorms.
AuSsIeThUnDeR36
Wow so this was rare, I should have taken a photo damn it
Space Cowboy
http://gta.wikia.com/Weather rain may occur in Los Santos, San Fierro, and in the countryside, but never in Las Venturas and the desert.... it doesn't mean it couldn't happen though I think it's fairly rareOh wait There is a glitch in which Tierra Robada uses the countryside's weather patterns, despite being a semi-arid region. Thus, it may rain but sandstorms would never occur.
MrMateczko
With a proper picture, we really can't decide if this is rare, or just a simple misconception.
Spider-Vice
Probably a timecycle error as described above, I think I saw that once too, but I don't remember when, it's been too long with the game. AuSsIeThUnDeR36
Ok I'll describe exactly what occured. I just bailed out the plane at the end of StowAway and skydived straight down, opened parachute and landed at that town just near the Lil Probe inn. Grabbed a car and headed north on that road that leads to Area 69 to go back to Verdant Meadows when it starts raining and as I pass over into Verdant Meadows it's still raining hard with thunder and lightning and it stopped after a short while but the atmosphere was cool. This is a Ps2 disc too so it's unmoddable
DarrinPA
You tricked the game by being higher than you can normaly be, perhaps the weather pattern isn't set for dust at that height. Once you landed it was already setup for a rain storm. If a rain storm starts in a non-desert place just travel to the desert as fast as you can, it won't change over to dust it stays rain. The same can be said if you get caught in a dust storm, just travel to somewhere that doesn't have dust storms and it will keep going for a short time. *That's how it works on the orginal XBox version atleast. AuSsIeThUnDeR36
Ah so that's how it happened. Storm was brewing when I landed in that town which is mostly on the border of the desert and when I passed the Lil Probe Inn it started raining and kept on raining as I travelled. So in effect I was taking the weather with me
DarrinPA
Yeah, probably. But it may not about being "on the boarder" it could about being higher than GTA SA ever allows you to be. When you jump from the plane in 'Stowaway' it's above the normal barrier. I don't remember where you jump from the plane, I'll have to play the mission again. Spider-Vice
You jump from the plane on top of Fort Carson's Cluckin' Bell. But yeah, it's that, the game doesn't have a weather pattern set after the barrier, so it just uses the default one. When you enter the barrier, the weather won't change because SA introduced a better weather blending system. AuSsIeThUnDeR36
I'm still wondering how the massive plane managed to land on a dirt runway without skidding everywhere and crashing. Pilot must have balls of steel
lil weasel
What the andromeda? Have you not seen the skip and drop videos from Viet Nam? And this is a game, that means not real life. Many things in this game aren't for real. Crashs, Motorcycle driving, gun wounds, explosions. floor plans, walls (some of those interiors belong in a T.A.R.D.I.S.) I just redid the 'Stowaway' to see how far the plane will travel during the mission. For an hour and it barely moved... Spider-Vice
The plane is static, Weasel, what you see is a moving "skybox" model, to give you the impression it's going somewhere but you'll always end up in the same place. Carbonox
I'm with the theory of the game getting confused about weather. I once got a sandstorm in the downtown San Fierro for some odd reason, just after spending time in the desert. o.O (I'm back at the forums once again!) BabeRuth
It only rains when your passing through SAN FIERRO to the desert. I had it rain a couple of times when i did the mission "MONSTER"
