chaitanya2106
Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit 2GB RAM Enough HDD Space 128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS Graphic Card Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz CPU Purchased on June , 2008. The above specs match the recommended requirements of San Andreas. Despite, the game doesn't run smooth at all times. I have turned OFF Frame Limiter, reduced Draw Distance to minimum, changed Visual FX Quality to LOW, turned OFF MIP Mapping & Anti-Aliasing. Despite doing these changes, the game shows signs of smoothness for a few minutes then it slows down & again it runs smooth & again slows down & this loop continues. What can be the possible reasons for this ? Is it shortage of Memory? I check the Task Manager & see that only half of the memory is in use. San Andreas , while running, occupies around 190-200 MB of RAM in my computer. Is it the Internet Security software (kaspersky) that is causing to slow down? lil weasel
What about the Game itself? Are you playing with the DVD in the drive? Did you or someone else modify it?
Spider-Vice
It could be Kaspersky, it's pretty tasking these days, try disabling its proactive defence and try again, or check for any processes using CPU while you're playing. Great answer - I have also seen where the video card overheats and keeps resetting that would cause this too. Cooling fan gummed up?
Spider-Vice
If the graphics card reset during gameplay it would probably cause a crash error, unless something is throttling, check your fans too, and CPU temperatures using a tool like HWinfo (google). It's been my experience with ATI based cards that Catalyst Control Center is set to auto-reset the graphics card on crashes. This process is seamless - an overheating gpu crashes repeatedly. On my older PC, I have a X850XT Platinum card that suffered the same exact problems with the game. For some reason I bailed out of the game and went into the control center in a last ditch attempt, my intent was to turn on overclocking, I then noticed the gpu temp was thru the roof. As an experiment, I again loaded the game, waited until it started blurring and skipping and acting up again, bailed out of the game, checked the gpu temp graph, concluded it was a cooling issue with the card. Everything runs perfect in the interiors as there's not much rendering and so the card never got hot. That threw me off for awhile too.
