36Chambers
I remember one of the Housers' saying they only make games they'd want to play. I was really glad to see GTA IV be a lot less over the top and cartoonish as there are games that do that (Saints Row). I'll be happy to see Rockstar go for a tone between SA and IV. There aren't many open world games that have a more serious story line these days, and that can be the thing that separates GTA V from the rest. And I'm sure we can't be certain with ANY of our predictions until we see more or the game comes out.
Snake Without a Tongue
Let Saints Row tackle the "fart in a jar" weapons. I like the direction of GTA. If they could get the perfect mix of drama and absurdity of RDR I'd be even happier.
Kjax39
Yes, it called maturity. GTA IV was more "adult", more realistic and that's a good thing Gay as f*ck. I want funny sh*t. Alpha humor
ccrogers15
I think its fine. At least it still makes fans happy unlike the new Resident Evils or Silent Hills.
Mister Pink
III era didn't set out to be cartoonish or childish * fart in elevator * cannibalism * alien slime * making porn (with a huge "boobs" spotlight) * dildos * sadomasochism and sado suits * meta- references (true grime, Tanner, "refraction") * huge "cartoonish" movie-like missions * stunt drive * ability to dress like an idiot (try to play GTA SA like a fat clown with underwear, or LCS as a bird, it's a totally different game) * blowing up HALF of an ISLAND!!! * 007-like missions (both in SA and even TBOGT) ... maybe the III-era wasn't ONLY childish and cartoonish, but it was a great part of the game, don't you think? Yes, without it, the game would be too serious and boring. It's all in context to larger more serious theme, murder, gang war, betrayel, family member murder, being framed by authorities, theft, more murder, corruption. IV is great but it took itself way too seriously. All the great drama films have some comic relief. Take Clint Eastwoods True Crime for example, James Woods plays a great role in it and some parts are laugh out loud, however it a drama story about a black guy on death row for a crime he may not have committed. It doesn't take away from the seriousness of the film. Life is funny and strange things happen. It's about finding a balance. IV was biased towards being serious with little or no comic relief, going against what fans liked previously about GTA. That is my point. Beliece it or not. The game changed. To add, the things you listed except alien goo exist. Dildos, Porn etc. in fact they're not even childish things, they are adult things but if you relate that stuff to being childish or you relate it to kids, then fair enough. EDIT: Oh and I read you comment on the other page. I thought your stance on the subject was the opposite to mine. I didn't realise you were agreeing, somewhat. Dick Justice
IV had comic relief too, it was just a different kind of humour.
Ryanbashaw
I think with each iteration in the franchise they get a little better at tuning their craft, this game is a blockbuster so why not make it be as we are acting out a Scorsese film. Yeah, dildo and sex are totally not for kids When I say "childish" I mean it is used for comedy, it's used to make you laugh like a kid that says his first dirty word. It's obvious that this kind of comedy can't please everyone, but it was always a part of GTA. To be fair, GTA IV can take itself less seriously, but I think TBOGT was way better in this. But after all, isn't even comedy and fun the real "GTA-ish" elements of the game... it's FREEDOM. GTA IV, apart from some limitation caused by the new engine (airplanes, bikes, some weapon) has a lot of limitation that are here only because R* tough that something wasn't too realistic. 4-star in the airport? No big mansion? No strange clothes? No funny cars? no Turbo in cars? no taxi or ambulance missions? NO FUNNY CHEATS????? If GTA V game will allows us to play like we want, even if there's less comedy, I think it will be a true "GTA" game.
AlexJonesConspiracy
Maybe we are just getting older. How about that? i feel abit of both here, we're getting older, and the game is getting softer...
