lil weasel
Is the Game installed to the default drive (C:)? Flash drives and some external drives are too slow. Run it with ADMIN Privileges. Use XP[sp3] mode. Do you have a hidden file called 'Virtual Store: GTA San Andreas? Delete it if you do. Possibly the system updated a driver to one that is incompatable with the game. You may need to Roll-Back to the date before the game stopped working. Or at least use the 'old' driver if you can sort that out. Edited October 8, 2012 by lil weasel
Spider-Vice
Do you have a hidden file called 'Virtual Store: GTA San Andreas? Delete it if you do. That's quite vague but it's almost that, it's actually C:\Users\(youruser)\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files and look for a Rockstar Games folder, then delete it. As an extreme measure try reinstalling the game. Girish
San Andreas does not create a virtual store folder on Windows 7; that's only a Vista thing.

Spider-Vice
Girish: I'm gonna have to prove you wrong, I don't know how but it did happen to me VirtualStore is generally where Windows saves crashed files or something, I had a few crashes once and SA wouldn't start, to my surprise I had a GTA SA folder in there, I deleted it and it worked. Probably more common in Vista but as the kernel is the same it should have the same use in both OS. ise7enseas
There isn't any Rockstar name folder. I've re-installed it 5 times or more but still didn't work.

SA has crashed on me a few times but there's absolutely nothing in my virtual store folder. @ise7enseas: Have you tried closing all running applications (even your anti-virus) before starting the game? Something might be interfering.
TheGodfather.
I think you have a pirated version of the game because org. version has the folder Rockstar Games..
Girish
I think you have a pirated version of the game because org. version has the folder Rockstar Games.. He's talking about there not being any R* Games folder inside the Virtual Store folder; which is normal. Repeating what I said above; @ise7enseas: Have you tried closing all running applications (even your anti-virus) before starting the game? Something might be interfering.
