Should GTAV implement a carry weight system?

  1. 1. Should GTAV implement a carry weight system?

    • Yes, There should be a limit to how much weight you can carry (With no Bags)
      9
    • Yes, But only what you can carry on your person or bags/backpacks/pockets/briefcases/etc
      40
    • No, But bigger guns shouldn't be easily hidden
      38
    • No, I want endless, invisible pockets with no sort of feeling of weight

If you want to limit your weapons, buy two guns from ammunation or the weapon basements or whatever before you go on a mission.

There's only one or two missions in IV that I had to use guns bigger than the Glock. So, I guess I already do that.

Well, then weapon and weight limits like this are pointless now, aren't they?

Why take out the fun of GTA??? If you only want to carry one weapon than so be it. Do it. But I like to have atleast one gun for each different type. I would also like the weapon wheel cause it's fast and easy. The old was is too old now. It takes forever and you can't see what you want. That's what needs to be change.

1st off ,f*ck that "we dont want no real life sim" argument. RDR's wheel system was tight, & MP3's was alright for a non open world like MP3. somewhere in between that would be cool as f*ck. In V the shotguns or w/e could be on the players back when not drawn, like RDR.

I have nothing against the traditional way, but f*ck all you over exaggerating sh*t when it comes to a change. If its not weapon scrolling, everything is real life sim & potions to you dumbasses. Nobody is saying that. R* can make their own sh*t and make it work. I hope it is changed just a bit so all you complaining wont have fun playing it cause you cant go saintsrow on sh*t in the game.

I'd like to know when saints row bought all the exclusive rights to fun. If you really want a colorless bland sandbox, mafia II is right there with free roaming DLC. There's no reason GTA needs to be like that.

What does a role-playing game have to do with anything? ... Why should we be so closed-minded?

Alright, let's switch the tables a bit so you can see it how I see it.

Do you like Skyrim? I like Skyrim. I also like God of War. Hey, I know, instead of being sandbox RPG, Skyrim should be a button-mash, fixed-camera beat-em-up like God of War. Instead of playing God of War when I want to button mash, I think I should have Skyrim do it too, and force everyone else who liked the old system to play it the way I want it. Don't like the idea? "Why should we be so close-minded?"

Besides, like someone already mentioned, if you want to be limited by X number of weapons, then buy X weapons at a time. No need to drag 51.61% of us with you.

GTA: San Andreas was a RPG.

Nope. San Andreas was a GTA game with RPG elements. Much in the same way that Guild Wars 2 is an MMORPG with platforming elements, and not a platformer.

Cars and Guns don't define a genre.

Have you heard of the term "GTA clone?" GTA is its own genre.

GTA wouldn't be GTA without unlimited weapon weights and guns that just appear in the characters hands... it's part of the GTA formula. If they changed that they might aswell overhaul the HUD system aswell. I think there is only so much you can acceptably change about a game before it becomes a different game.

For example I have always been a fan of the Resident Evil series but once the zombies disappeared it stopped truely being Resident Evil for me and became a reimagining which retained only certain elements of the original series.

That's not a very good comparison in all honesty. Changing gameplay elements is not the same as changing game design elements. You could make the Resident Evil comparison if they decided to remove cars or guns from GTA, but not for this.

I want it to stay exactly the same it's been for years

Yeah, some things should change, but i like the weapons system how it is.

Having to carry a bag for larger weapons would be annoying as hell especially if it slowed you down.

Besides you would never be able to have an RPG, those things wouldn't fit in any kind of bag, and i don't see how being able to walk around publicly with an RPG on your back is anymore believable than pulling weapons out of your ass.

keep it simple, don't over-complicate the game.

Im not with the carry weight thing, but im fine with a wheel like RDR, I can get what I want faster. I dont think it would make anything bland.

In terms of limitations, I want something like RDR, whereby once you uncover a new weapon of a certain class (say a new shotty or assault rifle), it gets added to your 'inventory' and you are able to select one or the other at any time. I liked that idea that in RDR I could carry every pistol, repeater, shotgun, etc etc. The other thing though is that once I found the next weapon, I never really went back to the other "older" weapons, since the new ones tended to have better specs (at least it seemed that way). So perhaps that system is a little excessive in that is just simply becomes useless; why use a weak-ass gun when you've got a more powerful version in your inventory?

I most certainly DO NOT want to have to carry a duffel bag or have a weight limit. That sh*t works for games like skyrim and fallout because you have to traverse an entire landscape, on foot, and a lot of that game has to do with looting weaponry and supplies. My point is, skyrim and fallout have a survival aspect to the gameplay, and creating limits such as weight adds a certain immersion to the idea of looting and searching for the best supplies possible to aid in your survival. GTA doesn't have that. You don't go scrounging through dumpsters and back alleys to search for weapon upgrades. You get called for a mission, you perform the task, you get paid, you go to the titty bar. Weight has nothing to do with GTA

No bro, you're not seeing our point; no one is bashing anything. At least speaking for myself, I love RPGs, I just don't want extreme RPG elements on games that would get no gameplay benefit from them. Mayo is great on a burger, but it's gross on a milkshake.

What gameplay benefits could this possibly bring? It would limit our freedom by limiting our weapon options and making weapon switching slugish. If you want more difficulty, switch to free aim and stay away from armor/more than two weapons at a time. San Andreas' RPG elements worked because they blended perfectly with the gameplay, they weren't forced. They added replayability and customization, therefore expanding overall freedom. More extreme RPG elements like these would do the opposite, sacrificing elements that make GTA GTA to add unnecessary realism.

No offense to you, but this would ruin the game for me and many, many others. Have fun icon14.gif

Well, I personally wouldn't like to go to a trunk for my weapons and sh*t. What if you leave your car behind, or it gets destroyed before you go to the trunk? You'll have to obtain those weapons again. But still, pulling an AK-47 out of your f*cking jacket is just too unrealistic. They should definitely change that.

I like the idea a lot, and it could add a lot to the game I'm sure. The thing is, I just don't want to be held down and go at a slower pace for it. Even if it was implemented I wouldn't mind at all, though I'd prefer to be able to run at a somewhat fast pace, not be slowed down to a "power walk" like the elderly folk do. I don't mind it any other way, like at least allow us to run or jog, but not sprint. Then I could understand it, but no slower than a power walk, although no faster than a sprint biggrin.gif

You know, it would be a pain in the ass to have a limit on guns. Imagine trying to beat a mission and realize you can't get the dude or something because you are carrying guns?

everyone wants realism until they actually get it. When San Andreas came out everyone wondered why we couldn't use the car wash. Well we got the car wash in GTA Iv, did anyone even used it after that one mission? I'm just saying the idea of some realism may be great during the process but becomes stale after the first try.

I would love to wash my cars sense there will actually be more places to get it dirty(in the West).

Annoying??? How so???? The old way is annoying, slow, and sloppy while the new way is clean and easy. Not everyone likes a challenge. GTA needs to add this in just to make gun play more smooth.

No weight limit and use the weapon wheel and satchel from RDR.

Left and right on the d-pad (PS3) will be used for switching camera angle.

I mean... I have no reason to be here unlike the rest of you who have loads of GTAV information to talk about.
